We make a wrong booking when we arrived, but the hotel staff was assisting us in a good way. This we stay at a suite before we can move to a connecting rooms.
This hotel have a great design, building material (i love the wood floor), and landscape.
However, the hotel need a small renovation or repair on each supporting equipment.
For instance the shower equipment (in one of our room the handle was broken), AC (noisy in one of our room)
having said that, this hotel still have the luxury looks, and it is good to stay when in Solo
please be reminded that the Hotel location is quite far from the central town.

In 2007 we stayed in this hotel in a Deluxe Suite room, but this time (June 2011) we stayed in the moderate room. The moderate rooms are situated in the backyard, with the view of the little canal or garden.

The moderate room itself is very economical for a 5-star hotel. But the room itself has a 3-star standard. It has no bathtub, smaller room.

The Positives:
a. budget price for a 5-star hotel facilities.
b. nice scenery, nice swimming pool and relaxing garden.
c. 5-star facilities: sauna, whirlpool, fitness center.
d. Quick check-in and check-out time.
e. Clean and tidy rooms and alleys.

The Negatives:
a. We had no warm water in the shower! We didn't complain it directly to the receptionist, because we decided to use the shower in the fitness center.
b. Thin walls and doors, u can easily hear if people walking, open the door, etc. if you are lucky, you don't have neighbors in your left or right. But in my case, the neighboring rooms were occupied by family with young kids, with was loud and kept ringing the door bells. (they booked more than one room and kept moving from one to another room)
c. Not a very good variety of breakfast, esp. for a 5 star hotel.

RESUME:
in a moderate room, u will expect a 3-star room hotel but u can use all the 5-star hotel facilities. If a small room is not a problem for you, this moderate room is a good option.

The room was really hot, called the engineer but got no improvement. did not like much about the sweaty sleep we’ve been through. The room was really small, the lighting was terrible, it was so dark that i need to borrow lamp desk from the operator. around 8-9 PM, all the electricity suddenly WENT OFF twice! that pitch dark lasted about half a minute made all the kids terrified.

since 9PM we heard some buzzing noise . we asked the operator again about the noise but no improvement. it kept buzzing until we fell asleep around 11.30PM.

in the morning, the breakfast didn’t amuse me much. the menu was boring and doesn’t taste good, unfortunately.

i didn’t like much about my room and stay, but the staffs. the hotel staff was really kind and helpful. they really treat the guest as a king. i must give a 5-star for them.

I hosted 100 local and international guests for a wedding reception in October 2019. Ms Viena, the event manager, was extremely helpful from the start of my wedding planning all the way to the day of the event. The vendors she recommended were highly professional and delivered on their promises.

As part of the wedding, I also rented +-50 deluxe rooms and suites for my guests. Each one of them were impressed by the well-manicured property and Lorin's traditional touches: Javanese architecture and decor, big spread of Indonesian delicacies, and a daily gamelan show at 5 PM.

There are many fancier hotels in Solo, but Lorin is the only one providing authentic Indonesian hospitality in a beautiful garden setting.

The bedroom is clean, breakfast buffet is various from traditional to international foods. The swimming pool is full of fallen leaves at the bottom. The hotel is huge, equipped with fitness center and spa (must pay of course).

Standard room with great facilities for kids. Relatively low in pricing but excellent facilities such as swimming pool, kids playground and standard breakfast. Corridor and walls need maintenance but hey, not really concerned as pricing is again relatively low

I was here 15 years ago and was very impressed withy the hotel that was ex Sheraton.

Been to Solo so many times over the past years but never returned here. Since tripadvisor time, I could read that many guests were disappointed with the run down facilities. But it was still rated to be number 6 to 8 in the rank of hotels in Solo.

I am with my family and now in one of the rooms. Could have trusted with the review but wanted to try and enjoying the memorabilia of 15 year ago when my wife was pregnant. It was clean, nice and serene..

Now the review:
First coming for the Lobby, it was good huge and pretty clean though aging. Coming to the deluxe room. First impression, SMELLY of rotten parquet floor and old mattress. The sheet and duvet do not reflect 5 star standard. OLD, tired and shabby. The floor is so DUSTY. It's like hasn't been moped for the past 1 or 2 weeks. So I refused the room and was asking for a better room.

Had look for a more expensive room. The executive. Bigger and not smelly. A bit better in facility. I had to ask for the duvet cover to be changed. they look tired and old though it's clean. Started to enjoy the room, but the AC (aircon) is just not cold.

Have to ask for another room replacement. This is going to be the 3rd room in 3.5hours. Wanted to relax bit pretty much it's much a waste of time..

Next time? Better NOT!! If they don't provide us with a good room we will just check out and move to a better hotel.

What a PITY!! Beautiful estate but the rooms are NOT maintained up to the 5 stars standard. It should be 3plus due to the CLEAN and NICE swimming pool. Food is OK not so pricy for Jakarta standard. I guess just time for a total renovation..

The shower broke, hairdrier dead. Hot water yup, not hot anymore. Floor and mate badly need repair and maintanance. Breakfast, mediocre even for 3 stars hotel. I stayed here with my family, booked executive room. Twin bed and large, but the sheet, i think should be replaced soon

My family and I decided to spend two nights at Lorin while traveling to Solo for my birthday. The hotel is among the older ones in Solo, and it does show its age; the closet light was broken, the plugs were a mix of Indonesian- and European-style ones (from back when laptops in Indonesia used foreign plugs as a rule, i.e. before 2010), and the fitness center was in dire need of renovations.

That being said, however, it was certainly well worth the $50 we spent on a deluxe room. This price included breakfast, which gave us our choice of 30-40 selections every morning, which could be enjoyed on a terrace overlooking a fish pond or in the restaurant. The grounds are quite spacious, with the pool one of the largest I've seen in an Indonesian hotel and the gardens very enjoyable to walk through. There are tennis courts and a spa, and rooms have their own patios. The room itself was large, and our toddler had plenty of space to run around. If you're interested in gamelan, a group played outside the front lobby every night we were there.

It's not surprising that Lorin is commonly used for conferences by the universities and government/non-government agencies in Solo. I know I'll be happy to come back.
