Was a bit concerned about how remote the place was, but the main road has a Family Mart close-by and a 7-11 further down. All of the remaining restaurants are same-same.. However, the Aluwa homestay is so magnificently peaceful you don't really want to leave anyway. You can't actually see the ocean due to the trees/brush, but you can hear it. Big and well appointed rooms, large balconies, free bikes, big common spaces downstairs... well done. And we added our signed rock to the collection. Also, they sent a car for us at the train station AND THEN.... they drove us the 22 Km to our NEXT HOTEL in Hualian!!!! So nice and welcoming.

I stayed here with my three daughters for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner and his family were very friendly and helpful booking activities and transportation. They picked us up from the train station and dropped off us off as well. Considering we had no car he also kindly drove us to buy lunch one day. The room is spacious, bed is comfortable, and the grounds is well-maintained and very peaceful. It was a delight waking up to birds chirping every morning, and be able to walk to the beach in a minute. I kids have been begging me to stay long, and are already plotting their own return by train.
I highly recommend this place!

Aluwa Homestay is amazing! We totally loved it! It looks more like a hotel, the rooms are super spacious and have fridge, air-con, a comfy bed, a sofa, a private terrace, kettle and complimentary tea and coffee... more like a hotel!

the manager, Thomas, is amazing! We didn’t have a car so he picked us up at the station and took us to Hualien Night Market, then, on the following day he drove us to the park entrance and to a great hot pot local restaurant he recommended. He is super sweet and helpful! Thanks a lot Thomas!

Breakfast is great too, different every day and freshly cooked.

The house is gorgeous, super nice deco and beautiful outdoors. Just 1 min walk to the beach!

We had a lovely time there!

I had the most wonderful stay at Taroko Aluwa - it exceeded my expectations in every way. The best thing about it was the host, Thomas, who was so welcoming and helpful. I was on my own and I didn't have a car, and he was so kind, making suggestions of things for me to do and driving me around - taking me to restaurants, the local shop, the train station, and a river for swimming. As soon as I booked my room on booking.com he sent me the train timetable from Taipei. I really felt as though I was staying with friends or family. And the dog Happy was super-cute, welcoming me every time I returned.
I had a deluxe double room with mountain view and it was great - even better than the photos. It was spacious and it smelt delicious, like a spa. The bed was very comfortable and there was a good balcony for reading and sunbathing, and an amazing view out of huge windows. The shower was really good, and there's a fridge and a kettle. The breakfast was good and beautifully presented.
The location itself is gorgeous - surrounded by mountains and 2 minutes from the sea. If you are looking for a peaceful refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life then Taroko is the place for you. The beach is lovely to walk on (and almost totally deserted!) but not suitable for swimming because of the undertow, and I discovered that in Taiwan people don't sunbathe - in fact they swim fully clothed! So this is not the place to come for a beach holiday, but if you want a peaceful time with gorgeous scenery and a national park nearby then it's perfect. The only thing I wished I'd done differently is to research a tour to Taroko park nearer the time - I went with the one advertised in the b and b and it was entirely in Chinese and also quite short. But there are lots of tours available to book if you look online. I got a taxi back from Hualien one night after going to the night market, and that was very easy.
I would definitely stay there again!

Love the exclusiveness of the beach which is a short walk from the Aluwa minsu!! It is a distance from town area as we desire to experience the quiet countryside. Aluwa is near the entrance of Taroko National Park. It is well maintained by 3 friendly and polite managers who will go all out to make you feel welcomed and well-fed at breakfast time. Room is comfortable and clean. It is specially designed and spacious for my family of 6. Don’t expect fantastic soundproofing for the rooms but tourists I encountered are usually their local Taiwanese. Top floor has some sea view. Thanks Aluwa for the enjoyable stay!!

A very pleasant surprise. Welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. We've spent 3 nights in Aluwa with our 2 kids. Spacious and comfortable bedroom, nice breakfast. You will meet the kind owners and the friendly and smiling manager Apau who will facilitate your stay as he's speaking english. Apau was very resourceful and patient : he arranged a 2 days tour: taroko and the rift valley and helped us for our train tickets purchase. The beach is amazing 30 meters from the house.

Definitely our favorite place during these taiwanese holidays!

Merci!

The first reason I chose this place because they provide bus transfer from the train station, which seems to be very right decision for a small quiet town like this. The place is Asian decoration with modern design. As it located next to the sea, we can walk to the sea, look back for the mountain view and thousands of stars at night, speechless. However, the hilight of this place is the owners dog named "Aluwa". She was actually lead me to the beach and wait for me and watch me out at night time. She's like a staff in this place. Apart from the dog, the room was clean well prepared, healthy breakfast. Only one thing I can comment is the mattress which is too soft for me.

The stay was pleasant and relaxing. The homestay decorated with the local cypruses wood's sculptures, filled with wood fragance. The owner was very friendly and welcomed us with her yummy cookies.

The QIXingtan beach is just right beside the hotel. The owner's dog called Naluwa, will guide you to the beach.

The Taroko Limestone Karts as a background and the Qixingtan beach just right beside. The view is stunning, let me feel refresh and peace mentally and physically. Love it.

They are really nice owners, treat guest like friends. House is so artistically decorated, with the best material in every corner. It's like a museum that smell good. There is no wifi in the room, but we enjoyed the stay more. It's really new, with a smart dog that took us to the beach. I contacted them directly, so they don't need to pay agoda 20%. If I can rate it more than 10, I would.

We came as a family with our 9 year old daughter, sister/ brother and elderly father. It is a wonderful location, excellent host and very clean. The beach locale and friendly host made for a wonderful place to rest after exploring.

1) We have free simple bicycle for 4 set. 2) You take by train from Yilan. Aluwa is near by Xincheng train station ( Hualien ), then I'll arrange a car to pick you up at Xincheng train station. Welcome!
