Great place, just outside the train station. Perfectly located if you're starting or finishing a bike trip as the good bike rental places are just across the station, 10 minutes away. Owner is really flexible, cute animals and musical instruments

We loved our stay here, a nice and confortable hostel close to the train station. Very clean, tea, coffee available all day. Staff was very helpful and provided a lot of information on things to do. Excellent service. Well recommended.

Friends and I passed through the Lazy House merely as a stopover on a long drive along the east coast heading to Yushan National Park. This hostel was very quaint to say the least, between the friendly faces (including Obama the charming resident dog) whom greet you upon arrival and the very comfortably cosy layout set across a few levels. Equipped with everything you need and attentive service to match this sleepy place makes for the perfect stopover or a relaxed longer stay in Hualien!

Lazy House, much like the town it’s in is a sleepy peaceful place to rest during your travels in Taiwan.

Although our stay was super short we were totally digging the vibes of this little art scene hangout. Especially with the charming little sausage dog ‘Obamama’.

The place was very clean and well presented making it the perfect place to stopover or chill out for a longer stay.

This was seriously one of the best times of my 6 months of travel. The place itself is so cute and clean. I couldn’t get enough of the chill/artsy vibes. The dog Obama was the sweetest. The owner and staff were beyond hospitable. They helped me plan an awesome day at Taroko, followed by a second awesome day at the river. They went above and beyond to make me feel at home. Angela you are a rockstar. We even had a small concert one night. It was awesome. My only regret is not staying there longer!!

The price is amazing at £4 for a dorm bed which is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a supermarket almost next door and a great all you can eat vegetarian restaurant across the road. Free breakfast (simple toast and spread) is available. The sweetest ever dog is also available to play with. Single shower/ bathroom available on each floor.
About 5 minutes from the station and bus station so easy to get to sights.

Good location next to the train station, good place from which to explore taroto gorge. Staff are all so laid back and happy to accommodate, invited us to play board games with them. Best thing is the little sausage dog who comes and sits on your lap! Facilities basic but do the job. Would recommend if you like a chilled environment

We stayed at Lazy house for 4 nights and it was truly the best hostel in the world! (We've been travelling for 6 months and visited 7 countries so I feel we can say that with some sincerity). The beds were super comfortable with privacy curtains on the bottom bunks and individual lights and sockets. The bathrooms were clean and the kitchen facilities available to everyone with free toast and coffee at breakfast. The whole house was well designed and decorasted and we loved the chilled atmosphere and comfortable lounge areas. The best part though was the wonderful host Angela and her adorable dog Oba (Obama the sausage dog). He would greet you noisily as you came home and then seek out any available lap for some cuddles. Angela was great to talk to, she spoke very good English and was incredibly helpful, recommending the best places to eat (the dumpling shop was our particular favourite) and which hikes to do in Taroko. We would recommend this hostel to everyone! Thank you for a perfect stay.

Great hostel, staff are super welcoming and helpful. Only two things I can think of that could be negatives: 1. Airplanes in the morning are loud, but that's probably for the whole city. 2. They have a dog. I love dogs, so that was a huge positive for me. It's super friendly. Could not have asked for a better hostel experience.
