Very nice, albeit large hotel and somewhat out of the way. The hotel is the largest we had on our tour, but we still felt very comfortable. The rooms are, like the rest of the hotel, large, have a feel-good character and are equipped with everything you need. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a shop, cafe, swimming pools and other entertainment facilities. The breakfast room is a bit small for the size of the hotel and it could be tight at times. Nevertheless, the breakfast itself was very good and extensive. We would book the hotel again

Location: next to a 18 hole golf course, about 10-15 min drive southward to downtown. Hillside serenity, albeit with less dining choices. Rooms: old recent-remodeled 5 star hotel, so rooms are large compared to modern hotels. Beds comfy, partial seaview ok, electric outlets on both sides of bed. Bedside chairs table could be better quality. Harnn toiletries give off relaxing holiday vibe. Facilities: nice big pool with lots of loungers, large kids center with climbing wall, and other interactive games will keep a preteen for 1-2 days. Staff: friendly, helpful.

This hotel was the perfect choice for our family trip. The spacious rooms, kid-friendly amenities, and welcoming staff made our stay truly enjoyable. I can't recommend this hotel enough for families. From the pool area to the on-site activities, it had everything we needed to keep everyone in the family happy and entertained.

Absolutely terrible stay. The noise from the Jr. High School next to the hotel was blasting music and speaking into a sound system that echoed throughout the neighborhood. It appears they have a soccer field and think they are hosting a stadium event for 90,000 spectators. When in reality it's just a handful of participants.
Apparently, this happens regularly. When we asked about it they said there was nothing that could be done and it is common.
Do not stay here, you will regret it.

I was betting on certainty when booking the Parkview. Had some fun booking via telephone since the online system was weird. My room was downgraded upon arrival since the staff insisted the better room was needlessly expensive - I suppose?
Room was basic but very roomy for Taiwan + had a nice view. Breakfast and dinners included, the usual blend of local and localized European cuisine.
The hotel/resort is far from the Hualien downtown and prone to get taxi drivers rip you off (paid 325 NTD from the train station to there because of an apparent detour), the drive back - a hotel-called taxi - was only 200 NTD - Taxis are actually more expensive than in Taipei).
Service was alright but the hotel simply felt too little value compared to Taipei's competitive environment.

We arrived to our hotel room on the 16th floor and were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room. It had a lounge room with toilet for guests and a bedroom with another bathroom and study desk. Despite the luxurious feel of the room, there were a few deficiencies we noted. Firstly, the lighting of the rooms was very dim. There were no ceiling lights, only a few lamps by the side. Secondly, there was hardly enough racks near the shower to place the towel (unless you wanted to walk to the other side of the bathroom dripping wet). The number of powerpoints was very disappointing. I found one in the bathroom, one near the study desk, and one next to one of the beds (which is hardly a good place to place a charger). The floor in the shower was a marble surface, which made it super slippery. I nearly slipped over a few times when the floor was wet and soapy. The bed was large and spacious, but mine felt a bit too soft and uneven. I felt like sinking into the bed in one region and turning over wasn't very pleasant. The blankets were nice and thick so this made it comfortable.
The buffet breakfast area was very nice and spacious with great views of the gardens. The food, however, was very poor. There was either not enough of it to feed the large crowds of guests or the quality was very poor. After talking to someone who went to this same hotel last year, they too noted the food standard to have dropped quite a lot. The only difference noted were larger numbers of mainland tourists this time compared with last year. What made the breakfast particularly unbearable was the hygiene. While filling up for some tea, I noticed (see photograph) a cockroach running along the benches. I've never stayed at a hotel where there are cockroaches running around!
Staff attitude was very poor. Staff were slow to remove used dishes and when they did, they would do so hastily and occasionally bump the table, which was uncomfortable when eating. The lifesaving staff at the indoor pool were also atrocious. My parents wanted to take a swim but they didn't notice the sign that said they needed proper swimming gear. Rather than giving a pleasant reminder for a forgivable mistake, my parents were shouted at, abused, humiliated and ordered to leave the facility. They've never been treated so badly in a hotel (especially at a 5 star one). Guests pay lots of money to stay here and expect to the treated with some respect and decency. However, after this incident, we left the hotel with a very bitter taste in our mouths.

This hotel claimed to own an appellation of 5 Star. True! It has a 16-storey building, with elegant facade and beautiful lobby, plentiful amenities, top class restaurants, a beautiful stretch of green park surrounding, 2 standard sized swimming pools, and lots and lots of other to earn this title. But behind these are there anything that give people second thoughts?
Our stay at the beautiful, roomy and beautifully decorated family suite on the 16th floor verified all these. We were under false pretences on arrival and marvelled at the comfortable surrounding with admiration and joy. But the following encounters made us think twice and not sure of of our earlier judgement. An afternoon swim in an indoor pool would be a good exercise to relax after the journey from Taipei. But as we were just on the way of enjoying ourselves in the water when suddenly I heard a loud voice shouting at close range. A life-guard dressed man standing by the pool shouted at me with an abusive tone to get out of the pool. He accused me for not wearing the swimming cap. Then he looked and questioned at the style of my swimming costume (frankly I was wearing an old style swimming trunk). Perhaps he thought that my swimming trunk was not modern enough for these days' fashion! Frankly, it was my fault and my negligence to fail noticing the small sign outside the sidewall of the swimming pool that swimmers must wear swimming cap. In Australia there was no such regulations! I don't blame him as he is doing his job. But what I want to air my grievances is that he should not shout at me as if I were some waylaid hooligan who tried to break and wreck social orders, and in front of my wife and daughter-in-law!!! It was an insult! Has he not been taught to use softer language towards hotel guests? Perhaps he was thinking that I was just one of the mainland tourists who shared the majority of the occupants. However, this xenophobic attitude ought not to exist. No matter what, guest is guest. To be one of the staff of a 5 Star hotel, you should know your behaviour and manner. Woebegone is the day for me to lose my fervor of travelling! The other incident happened in the dining room during breakfast. Not to mention at the quality and quantity of food being served, and the poor service rendering, we found there was a cockroach roaming along the table of the displayed food. A live cockroach in a 5 Star dining hall is unimaginable! I sincerely hope that if the hotel is to sustain its appellation, there are lots of work the management ought to be done.

This was my first night stayed in Taiwan after the long flight from North America. Hotel location is ok, not close to any major attactions or night markets (about 10 minutes drive to downtown area). My room is a non-smoking room, but I still can smell the odor from the ancient cigarette. The facility is excellent, and dinning area is spacious. My stay included free breakfast buffet, and they provide variety of food for different clientele.

We went during Chinese New Year and the hotel is packed with tourists. The buffet dinner at Chinese restaurant and breakfast buffet are both below standard...limited choices and poor setting. The room is spacious and clean. Facilities cover wide selection of activities...very good for family with young kids!
