Meci Hotel is a small hotel located near the train station. It is just infront of a park and near the Municipal Library.

Check In was Fast and Efficient. Staff are Nice plus they have a resident dog named eddy.

Room is Small but Clean, Cool and Comfortable. Bed was very comfortable.

At the Ground Floor they have Unlimited Snacks.

Just near the Hotel, the road around the corner is a Street with Restaurants and Shops.

Meci Hotel is fantastic! It is very well located only 2 blocks from the train station, with easy access to the buses that go to Taroko Gorge every morning as well as 2 blocks from the main street that goes to the center of town, Zhongshan Road. There are LOTS of great dining options within easy walking distance, and it is definitely preferable to stay in this part of town over closer toward the ocean near the Night Market, which can be a bit isolated, and yet is nevertheless only a 15 minute walk away. My quiet room on the 7th floor was fantastic, and had a nice comfortable double bed, mini-bar, desk, flat screen TV, and the most amazing bathroom with an incredible rain shower and 6 body jets. While breakfast is not included, they lobby area does offer free snacks and the vibe of the hotel is very chill and relaxed, with inviting seating areas that are designed to encourage guests to mingle and get to know each other. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, and spoke good English. When I needed a computer cord to transfer pictures off of my phone to my laptop, they readily lent me what I needed at no charge. I would definitely stay here again and would encourage visitors to spend several days in the area -- at least two in the Taroko National Park if possible. Sadly, I could only spend one day in the park and it was not enough.

I stayed in a private room with my own W.C.. It was supposed to be a room for 2 pax, but I had it all to myself. Check-in time commences at 3pm, but the bespectacled girl at the reception desk said she will help check me in first, despite being 2 hours earlier. She was all smiley explaining everything to me, and even ushered me right up to the lift thereafter -- a splendid start to my stay here!

I stayed on Level 5. The room was clean and quiet. The air-con unit could be toggled and operated easily, and a traveller's essentials (e.g. Bottled water, hair dryer, TV, bed room slippers, soap & shampoo etc.) were all provided for in the neat and cosy room!

To enhance their environmentally friendly efforts, other bathroom essentials like toothbrushes, combs, shower caps etc. were placed in the lobby at Level 1. Personally, I think this is a great gesture to enhance environmentally friendly usage of these items!

Free snacks and coffee/tea and ice cream were readily available at Level 1 too. Oh, and they have bicycles for you to borrow (on a first come, first served basis).

What's not to love?

Around 10 mins walk from Hualien railway station. Also, you can find 7-11, MOS Burger, McDonald’s, CosMed, Watsons within walking distance.

Check-in was fast and staff are willing to assist with queries. The hotel lobby was cosy with a snail theme which was very relaxing. Breakfast not included but there are 2 shops that sell typical taiwanese breakfast such as bread and soya milk that is just 2 minutes walk. (one beside and the other a street away)

The room is small but clean. Mattress and pillow were a little soft. Power sockets were sufficient. There was free bicycle rental, hot/warm/cold water dispenser outside the lift lobby outside every level. Soft drinks and snacks are free but have to be consumed at the lobby.

Some of the drawbacks that could be improved to as follows:

1) Drain in room 705 does not flow smoothly causing it to choke.
2) Insufficient shelving in the shower area to put your own soap.
3) Install bidet spray next to the toilet bowl.

Nice hotel within walking distance to hualien train station. Room is a bit small but clean. Hotel staff is helpful and lobby is well adorned. Need to take a taxi if you intend to visit the night market. Hotel has bicycle rental available too.

We stayed 2 nights at Meci for our trip to Hualien. Only a short walk (max 8-10 min) from Hualien TRA to Meci. Room was equipped with a modern toilet. Toothbrush, toothpaste, combs, cotton buds, shavers were displayed for self collection at the lobby. Free coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks are also available. Wifi connection was good! Staff was friendly and helpful in assisting with arranging and booking our day trip to Taroko and assisting us with directions around the city and even provided food recommendations! My only negative comment was on our last day in Meci we found that my husband was bitten by bed bugs which we initially thought it was mosquitos bites at first. Sad that this caused discomfort for him for our entire trip.

This is a perfectly nice hotel. It borders on style over substance in some areas. The lobby and free drinks/snacks are awesome, however breakfast is a bit underwhelming, apart from tues when the kitchen is closed and they send you next door to an unassuming yet yummy feed. Rooms are nice but lack in storage or hanging. If like us, you get soaked in the gorge you will struggle to hang things up to dry. Having said that beds are super comfy and location couldn't be better. Five mins walk from the station and taroko shuttle. Staff are friendly and have good basic English.
Take a free bike and cycle the ten minutes to the coast

This is really a gem of a property & possibly my favourite hotel in Asia. Really. It's a small, modern place, with a very funky, fun lobby and possibly they nicest staff you'll ever come across. They greet everyone with genuine enthusiasm and warmth, going out of their way to be helpful with suggestions, tours and just friendly interest. The rooms are modern, exceptionally clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are very modern, with exceptional water pressure that will either flood the bathroom or take your skin off if you're not careful. There's bottled water in the room, but on each floor there's a water dispenser for refills, plus a boiling water tap for the tea & coffee that's provided. Refill the thermos as often as you like. Standard bathroom amenities are in the room, but there's also a 'help yourself' counter in the lobby should you need more. There's a tea/coffee bar in the lobby, but no cafe on site, so vouchers are provided for the free breakfast from a cafe next door. This is possibly the only weakness, as their menu is limited, but it's a solution nonetheless. The beds are super comfortable and all the bedding and towels are in pristine condition. Free wifi and many TV channels, although only CNN is in English. Within walking distance of the train station and bus stop to Taroko Gorge as well as only a 20-25 minute walk to the ocean front and night market. The rates offered by this property are astonishingly low based on the quality of the stay. Definitely a great option.

We stayed there for Chinese New Year and really felt like in a family: friendly staff, always caring for our needs with a good knowledge about the spots in Hualien (we had a great massage :))
The rooms are completely new refurbished, ours had a great view over the mountains. Since it's only 5 minutes walk to the main station, the hotel is perfect if you go to Hualien by train. Ok, the new night market is in a 20 minutes walking distance but if you walk, you will know most of the inner city of Hualien. And you will love it...

The rooftop has an amazing view. If the owner just would open a restaurant or bar there to enjoy the evening...

I stayed for 2 nights on a visit to Taroko Gorge. I recommend Meci highly for its convenience and comfort and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

I was able to check in an hour early. I caught the bus from the airport and got off at the train station; it was an easy 5 block walk. The library stop would have been even closer.

Reception was friendly and helpful. They explained the differences in tours to me and even called the tour operator with my questions and booked one for me. When I messed up the TV setup in my room, someone came to sort out the remote control.

After weeks of tight Taiwan hotels, the large room here was a pleasant surprise. It was comfortable and everything was in working order.

There is a park across the street with gorgeous mountains as a backdrop. The free coffee in the lobby was decent and enabled speedy getaways in the morning.

I got veggie buns and dumplings from the shop next door for breakfast both days. While exploring the neighborhood, I also tried some of the handmade mochi shops as well as the local draught beer on the next block.

If you are taking an express Puyuma (~2 hrs) train to Taipei, consider getting tickets a day or two in advance. I tried buying mine the prior evening but my preferred time was sold out so settled for a later one.
