On our first ever visit to Taiwan, we were in search of a peaceful retreat in the mountains, and Fuyam Tourist Home was all that and more. Host Brian was prompt and helpful in all our communications prior to booking and recommended us the Liyuan room, a charming, spacious upper unit in a two-storey block. A driver was hired to fetch us from Taoyuan Airport, and as part of a tour package with the minsu he took us to Daxi Old Town and Xiaowulai falls on the way up to Lalashan. On the second day, we visited Shenmu and other sights. Highlights of the minsu stay: the beautifully landscaped surroundings, the mountain view from our room and a truly outstanding breakfast and dinner with (other guests have also said this) no repeat dishes. Take tea in the tea lodge or read and relax in the lounge. Brian, Zhong Ma, Zhong Pa and the staff are genuinely welcoming and will make you feel right at home. We had a wonderful three days in perfect, sunny, 18degC weather. …
The quality and variety of the food is enough of a reason to stay here! The air is so refreshing, and the sound of the water nearby so calming, I felt more relaxed than I've been in years within minutes of being here. These are the kindest hosts, and the scenery took my breath away day after day. Can't wait to go back.
I went back to Fuyam Tourist Home for the 3rd time this year. Fuyam had given me great memories in 2011 when I first came here as a woofer (work in exchabfe for food and accommodation). And since then, I never fail to reconnect back to them whenever i can. Fuyam is different from other 民宿mainly because of the 人情味in this home. You can feel the homely feeling in this place. The zhong family are always so warm and caring. Food is fantastic and the menu was carefully planned to cater to different groups of guests. I love the serenity, the peace at the home. Highly recommend those who loves nature and quiet place to recharge.
The stay at Fuyam was excellent in every aspect. Beautiful and tranquil environment that looks like a page out of a pictursque storybook. Lovely owners Brian and his parents Mr and Mrs Chung, as well as the helper Ah Lian, who provided warm hospitality and see to your needs. Mrs Chung is an excellent cook who dished out nutritious and mouth watering meals! The 3 hr travel up Lala Shan was gruelling but it's worth the journey when you experience Fuyam. The day trip to the Cypress Forest Reserve was enjoyable due to the friendly and helpful driver guide Mr Png. Overall, I wish I could stay there forever and will definitely return again!
Our family of 6 (including my elderly parents and 2 young kids) stayed in the minsu for 4 nights. The Chungs made sure all our needs were taken care of. Every little detail was thought thru. E.g the mom would think of cooking us different dishes for each meal. The Dad drove us down to the fish farm just to show us around. Bryan, the son, helped cleaned my dad’s wound when he fell, and the Chungs lent us a waking stick for my dad! The minsu was clean and basic but you can’t ask for more. No aircon in the rooms but the rooms are naturally cooling at night! The kids loved playing by the stream down the minsu while my parents relaxed in their rooms. No regrets booking the trip. Though the windy roads to Lala shan made my face turn green.
