Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali is located at Pecatu in the southernmost tip of Bali which is the home of "Pura Uluwatu", the sacred Uluwatu temple, considered one of the core spiritual pillars of the island. Uluwatu is where centuries-old tradition and reverence mixes with beautiful beaches, inviting surfing spots and an eclectic wellness and dining scene. Perched atop cliffs with breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali is celebrated for its serene atmosphere and impeccable cleanliness. However, opinions are mixed when it comes to value, as some guests feel the costs outweigh the benefits, noting outdated aspects and average food. The spacious rooms enchant many, though service inconsistencies have been mentioned.
While the hotel's service receives commendation for staff attentiveness, there is room for improvement. Luxurious amenities, including private pools and varied dining options, are frequently praised by guests.

Six Senses Uluwatu offers a serene escape in a breathtaking clifftop setting. The main pool is a standout, boasting one of the best views in Uluwatu. Staff are warm and accommodating, with special thanks to Caroline and the team for a thoughtful upgrade after minor issues. Rooms are spacious and mosquito-free, ensuring a comfortable stay. The food is excellent, with highlights including homemade ice cream and a great selection of fresh fruit. While the resort is large and appreciate a lot of effort goes into maintenance, it would be nice if rooms were thoroughly checked to ensure everything is in working order before guests arrive. Ideal for those seeking relaxation in a secluded, peaceful and resort emphasising wellness!

The Six Senses Uluwatu is located far in the south of the island of Bali on the Bukit peninsula; named after the world-famous temple located a few kilometers from this hotel.
The drive from the island airport in Denpasar takes about an hour and is nerve-wracking due to the difficult traffic conditions on the island. The streets are narrow and completely overloaded with motorbikes, scooters and cars. However, once you have arrived at the Six Senses, you can quickly forget all the stress of the journey here. As soon as you enter the hotel, you are greeted by hordes of wild monkeys, and in the hotel itself you are greeted with a welcome drink, flowers and "holy" water. The check-in process was quick and you were driven in a buggy to one of the villas located on a hill. Due to technical difficulties in this little house, we received a further upgrade to a 2-bedroom villa. This property, which covered several hundred square meters of outdoor space, had a private outdoor pool of around 70 square meters and was decorated in Balinese style. Several bathrooms and an outdoor shower left nothing to be desired. From the private garden and the swimming pool in it, you had a breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean. In the morning, you can be woken up by the sound of birdsong.
Breakfast is usually taken in the main restaurant "Rocka". This is of course an extensive buffet with a wide selection, which is complemented by other Asian and Western dishes from the menu. Everything is very tasty and authentic. This restaurant, along with several other food outlets, is also available in the evening as an à la carte restaurant. Fantastic seafood creations let you forget the arduous Balinese everyday life outside the hotel gates with an endless view of the sea.
The oversized infinity pool towers over the cliffs on which the hotel is located. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have an elevator that would take you to the natural beach many meters below the hotel complex.
The hotel staff, whether in the restaurant, at reception, from housekeeping or even the buggy drivers, were as warm and friendly as you would find anywhere in the Far East. You felt welcome everywhere on the spacious hotel complex.
The Six Senses is currently undergoing a transformation process in which the 75 villas in the complex, which was only built in 2018, are to be renovated and adapted to today's technical standards. According to our findings, this is partly necessary in order to offer the discerning clientele, mainly from the Far East and the Australian continent, a hotel that corresponds to the higher price level.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish the hotel's top management, whom we met during our stay and were able to share our suggestions with, every success in implementing the renovation measures and the goals they have set themselves.

We stayed in a cliff pool villa for our honeymoon, and absolutely loved it. The view from the main pool is outstanding and our room also had an amazing view of the ocean. Breakfast is included and had a bunch of great options. We are both vegetarian and had plenty of good food to eat! We also ate at Watu (with the Rocka menu included since it is getting renovated) and everything we had was very good. I appreciated that they had oat and almond milk. We went to the main pool every day and didn’t have any issues finding chairs. The noise from the renovation was a bit unfortunate, but I believe it should be done by next month?
We also got a ton of amazing cocktails at the pool … I highly recommend you get some at the pool/Cliff Bar! The main pool was perfect temperature, so not sure what the other reviews are saying. Our in room pool was a bit colder, but not to the point where we didn’t swim in it. We actually found the temperature refreshing since it was so warm during the day. And they had some amazing tea! We also got the opportunity to get massages at the spa, which is very relaxing and tranquil. That massage area is huge. We also hit some golf balls filled with fish food into the ocean which was a really unique experience.
The water in the shower was a bit salty, but they have a sustainable process for filtering it so my guess is that’s why there is some salty after taste. It didn’t bother either of us, because it was only coming from the shower, and they provide several filtered bottles of water throughout the room during our stay that we drank from. And I love the sustainability!
The best part of our trip was the staff though. We stayed at many resorts while in Bali, but this one had the best service! Especially at Cliff Bar where they have some amazing staff! Everyone really went and beyond. We would like to thank Deddy, hendra, lapa, made, lanang, Dina, Elsa, labak and our main man JEMY from Cliff Bar for making our stay memorable and fantastic!
Tip - You absolutely MUST go to Cliff Bar at 5:30 PM to watch the sunset every night you are there. It sets right on the side of the hotel, it is a really magical experience. And Jemy and his team will take care of you!

I have had to re join trip advisor today just to post this review because I feel so strongly about it. I have never written a review before on this site. Without a doubt the worst luxury hotel I have ever been to. From the line up at check in, to the filthy grounds that urgently need to be repaired. A weird sort of unfinished looked to the whole hotel I am not sure what exactly they are going for here. The gardens full of mud and lack of plants. The service whereby at every meal something was forgotten, room service takes 1.5 hours to come and my favourite part was when an employee almost ran my son over at full speed in a buggy- kept going and never intended to come say a thing. We book this hotel because the website said they had underwater activities - scuba- they don’t, it’s an outside company and the drive there is 2 hours away. How can a hotel advertise they offer something when they don’t I am confused. Our two bedroom villa with pool overlooked roof tops full of mud and what looked like coal… which made you not want to look out to the Indian Ocean at all. The management and upkeep of all areas of the hotel I saw was actually sad. They are leaving the resort to rot. I can’t balance this out with the price we paid per night just under 3k…? We booked Sundays beach club everyday to make sure we were not at the hotel. I have never left a hotel feeling like this before in my life. I feel the least relaxed I have ever been! For me it was what I would consider a three star resort - I guess in order to get a five star rating you just need high ceilings a gym and 24 hour room service right … The most confusing part of all this is the six senses name- I thought this hotel brand was a beacon of luxury in the industry that set a certain level or standard. This is not the case in Uluwatu. I am sorry to say.

Just to provide some context to my review, i stayed in the Sky Pool Suite, and it cost me USD820 per night (that’s SGD1,110).
The condition of the suite was appalling to me. It was poorly maintained. Photos speak for themselves. Ceilings covered with mould & algae. Walls stained. Wooden pool deck floorboards covered with algae, extremely slipperly when wet after getting out of the pool. Metal beams all around the ceiling were rusty. The floor & table in the room were covered with dust. Sliding glass doors weren’t cleaned. Giant exhaust pipes literally just adjacent to the suite, with outlets 2-3metres away from the suite’s outdoor bathtub pumping out plumes of smoke, ensuring you won’t breathe in the fresh Uluwatu air. Clothes hangers were covered in rust. Handheld showerhead had a layer of dirt over it. Height of the showerhead could not be adjusted because the adjustable knob was unusable. Room’s desk lamp was broken. Power outlet on the desk was broken and loose.
I’ve been to Bali many times, and i’m certain this is one of the most poorly maintained hotel rooms i’ve stepped into, despite having paid the most that i’ve ever had for a few nights’ stay at a Bali hotel. You can see the photos and judge for yourself.
On a positive note, every member of the service staff we came into contact with during our stay was amazing. They are always smiling and will make you feel most welcome. I cannot say enough about their service. Frisky was the duty manager who attended to my concerns about the condition of the suite, when i raised this on the last night of my stay there. He offered to have the room cleaned, he offered us a ride to the airport provided by the hotel for the next day, and he let us stay in the suite up to 430pm the next day, the day we were checking out, which was the time we needed to leave the hotel. Adi the GEM supervisor & Yoga from Rocka restaurant were also very helpful & left an impression. There were many other service staff whom i’ve had the privilege to meet whom i am unable to name individually, who made the experience at the hotel (while i was outside the suite) a truly memorable and special one. The service was truly deserving of a 5 stars rating.

This property looks amazing in photos on the Six Senses website and is charging a premium price for accommodation. We paid Australian $900 per night, which was a discounted rate (from $1300 per night), for a villa facing the ocean. The views are great, however, it’s not really worth this kind of money - the property is pretty old and crumbling around the edges. I expected much better from a resort which is part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group.
The infinity pool is really nice and overlooks the ocean. There’s a lack of sun loungers though which was puzzling for a 5 star property.
There are only 2 restaurants on site, one serves only Indonesian food and the other is a pricey steak house (which was quite good).
Food was mostly okay although we did get a bad food poising from the pool side restaurant, which is unacceptable for a hotel which charges these kinds of prices.
Also this hotel bills itself as a health retreat, with health focused programs etc - however in the 7 days we stayed there, they held 3 massive events: 2 weddings and a birthday party, all incredibly loud and disruptive, which is completely not aligned with the health retreat angle they’re trying to take.
Disappointing experience and not good value for money.

The hotel opened in 2018. Despite being just 6 years old the property shows signs of tear and wear. The architecture is ageing well though and the 'tear and wear’ factor actually gives the property a bit of a patina and timelessness. I stayed in similar resorts (some have been reviewed in my earlier posts). How does this property fare comparing to others?
The check in process was rather long and many guests complained their rooms weren't ready even though we were all checking in at 3.30pm. The view from the Reception is spectacular and one doesn’t mind to hang out soaking up the panoramic vista. I booked a “One Bedroom Pool Villa” as we travelled with my teenage daughter and was expecting to have a living room with a sofa bed where she could sleep. It turns out the room was in fact a large King Room NOT One Bedroom Villa. We loved the spacious bathroom and the private infinity pool deck.
The service was very courteous and friendly (Thank you!). The public infinity pool - beautiful. Food at Rocka and Pool Bar - exceptional (though would do with more diverse wine-by-glass selection). The Gym was very well equipped. The overall experience was top notch predominantly thanks to the VERY hardworking resort team.
Water in the private pool was freezing cold. Being charged a top premium (for international standards) I expected the pool to be temperature controlled. Secondly, there is something wrong with the private pool area's planning. It would do with introduction of greenery to the perimeter walls. The area also lacked sun loungers. The cabana was nice but for some very odd reason it was facing the pool and the bare wall rather than the spectacular sea view. We tried to rotate it but it seemed bolted to the ground.
The Resort is in remote location. Therefore one must be prepared for it. There are no bars, restaurants nor shopping within walking distance. One is at the complete mercy of the hotel’s facilities. The resort is great for short stays though and I have no hesitation in recommending it. This is a classic couples' retreat - preferably honeymooners who don’t mind being in each other’s company all the time as there is absolutely nothing else to do.

Beautiful Resort! Gorgeous landscape. All staffs from inside out are very professional and friendly. I wasn't accommodating here but I specially made a trip from my hotel, Ritz Carlton to dine at The Cliff Top Bar since Rocka is under renovation.
Nice Bar with top excellent service. Stunning unobstructed ocean view. All the staffs at the bar are polite and friendly. Food and drink are good. I was lucky to enjoy Rocka Restaurant menu as the it was under renovation.
I would like to specially commend on the following staff for his impeccable service. - Mr Hendra Thank you for your good recommendation on the food and drink which also caters to my taste bud by tailoring my cocktail to a less sweet beverage. Also offering a mix variety of my meal within one dish instead of me over ordering and incurring food wastage or over consumption. Greatly appreciated for your thoughtfulness. Thank you so much for initiating in taking good pictures for me and also looking out for the sea turtles which gave me the rare opportunity to spot a few cute little ones in the ocean. Extremely delighted!
This establishment is highly recommended especially if you are around Uluwatu, Ungasan or Jimbaran area. Nice place to chill, enjoy the breeze and indulge in the ocean view.
