This place is amazing! We were planning on staying in Paquera for the night just so we could catch an early ferry and did not know of any sites in the area. Our hotel told us about Bahia Rica and the bioluminescent bay. We contacted Bahia Rica and arranged for a night kayak. It ended up being one of the...

Spent wonderful evening with Vicki (Vigdis) and Thomas' retreat for the Bio-luminescence tour, Welcoming, accommodating, informative. Great value and a truly interesting experience even for those (like me) who are inexperienced kayakers. We did not stay but spent a grand evening adventure. Highly Recommended.

Belated Thank you, Vicki and Tom for your welcoming spirits and possitive vibes. Your little piece of heaven on earth is true serenity. The bio-kayak night tour and the snorkelling Isla tour the next day were delightful thanks to your fun crew. We enjoyed your filling breakfast served with goodness. I especially appreciate all your assistance helping me locate a...

We just had to come back to this wonderful place! We have stayed a week doing wonderful tings like off shore fishing with Thomas, 3 day kayak trip with Vigdis and relaxing in the hammock by the beach or up in the wooden house on the hill. We have enjoyed the lovely food, Norwegian breakfast and great hospitality. We love...

Bahia Rica is an eco friendly lodge located in Punta Cuchillos, Paquera - 1.5 kilometers from the Ferry Naviera Tambor traveling between Puntarenas to Paquera - accessible via a dirt road. The lodge is owned by Thomas and Vigdis, a Norwegian couple, who are not only very friendly but incredibly knowledgeable of the area, finishing, kayaking and the local wildlife....

Thank you so much for taking the time to write us a review! I'm glad it worked out for you guys sleeping in your hammocks here at the beach. We don't really have an adequate camp site, but with some palm trees close to the water, we go a long way. We hope to see you back one day!

The bioluminescent night kayak tour was the experience of a lifetime. Think Avatar or fairy dust in your hands. Great owner/staff. A haul from Montezuma where we were staying but worth it. Bring cash for tips.

Did not stay but the property looked very nice. The night kayak was fantastic and I highly recommend to anyone interested in nature/science/experiencing something magical and different. The owners and guide were lovely, warm, knowledgeable and helpful. Loved the experience and was a highlight of my time in Costa Rica.

We booked a night here through air bnb and it was absolutely worth it. We came off the ferry and drove to the lodge. The room we stayed in was beautiful and clean and we felt like Vigdis really cared about how our stay was. As others mention, there are a lot of steps to get down to the beach....

We, a German couple in the early 50ies, had the pleasure to stay 4 nights in this lodge and it was the highlight of our trip. We did the night kayaking, which was for me absolutely overwhelming, a day kayak tour and a fishing tour. We never fished before but Thomas enthusiasm is somewhat infectious and we enjoyed it a...

We've been bumming around Costa Rica for about three months and we were itching for a really unique experience; Bahia Rica provided exactly what we were itching for. We arrived late in Paquera because of the bus from Montezuma and were stressed we wouldn't make it for our 6:30pm reservation time. We called and asked if we could still come...

“Our family stayed in the top floor, two young men stayed on the first floor. Despite having a communal kitchen and bath we really didn't cross paths with them. It's an ideal rustic beach bungalow, we lost power for a while due to a storm which only added to the adventure, it felt like you were in atarzan movie. ”

“All rooms looked similar, but I would take a top floor room as you won't get as much noize in the morning from other guests”

“The lodge creaks a lot, so I would recommend being upstairs so you do not have to hear people walking around upstairs.”
