Keemala
About
Keemala harnesses the history of fictitious ancient Phuket settlers and incorporates the story of four different clans within the resort. Keemala’s style blends the indigenous stories of the clans with the decadence of an upscale resort. The architecture is a stark contrast to most hotel accommodation. Keemala’s fantastic cottages, tree houses and pool villas are designed around the unique topographical conditions. Set into the hillside and making use of slopes offering sea views, streams, waterfalls and indigenous trees.
A significant part of the Keemala ethos is to celebrate and cultivate Thai culture. This is strongly perceived in the spa. Treatments and wellness programs are being meticulously designed to utilize bygone techniques, natural herbs used as medicinal remedies in conjunction with old-fashioned pampering. The eight treatment rooms will offer a haven of renewal and the spa will also offer a Thai massage pavilion, steam and sauna rooms along with a fitness room with views of the sea and lush topography, yoga and meditation spaces making Keemala an ideal destination for retreats.
As an extension of the wholesome spirit of Keemala, cuisine offered will also be organic and locally sourced and grown where possible. The menus will incorporate healthy, nutritious and above all delicious meals. Keemala will offer three outlets for dining, the main restaurant, a pool bar, a smaller wine cellar ideal for small parties and meetings and destination dining will be offered to those guests who would like to enjoy the ambience of somewhere distinct, perhaps beside the waterfall, in a separate sala in the grounds or in the comfort of the villa or cottage.

The accommodations further up are a bit more private, the climb up is quite steep. Buggies are available at any time, and driving them is an experience due to the steepness.
There is also an activity program. We took part in a stretching course and a yoga course (included in the price). Very, very great!
The fitness room was also of high quality - but we didn't use it.
The food: a treat for the palate and a feast for the eyes. For breakfast, you can order separate delicacies from a menu in addition to the lovingly prepared buffet. The huge selection of smoothies, fruit bowls, egg dishes - we miss them. Thanks to the exquisite cuisine. It was also very nice to watch the hustle and bustle of the nicely dressed cooks through a window.
Due to the remote location of the hotel, we almost always had dinner here, different themed areas, theoretically something for every taste. Also worth mentioning are the delicious drinks from the bar.
All of the employees were extremely attentive and friendly - Mai, Ing, Daniel, ... . Special thanks to BIM, who always asked how we were. On the last day, she showed us around the well-kept grounds again and did a private photo session just for us. How incredibly nice - thank you!!!
We definitely recommend the resort.

I wish we could mention all the staff from security to gardeners, housekeeping to restuarant staff. Their faces teily light up if you smile at them. We have to refer to a few of the staff by name as they stood out to us. Rung in the Mala restuarant was attentive and kind, Aiem the sous chef who did our cooking course with Fit And Pailin and also Nadea, Hakun and Wan. Daniel for his yoga classes and Ing and Bancha feom the Mala Bar

One small bar-restaurant complex. Dull and small. Barely 5-7 people at different time of the day (that’s when they claim the resort to be full). Food is good. But you will be eating by yourselves all meals in same place
Even after paying over $800 a night, you have to pay for steam and sauna ($50). Ridiculous. No premium property does that
Broke a glass in the room. Not a champagne flute, they charged about $15. That water glass wouldn’t cost more than 1$. Reflects their attitude of ripping off guests
Also the place is so secluded and uphill, you are at their mercy once there. All meals and massages have to be there so be ready for paying crazy prices
The view from the room is green but in most cases you can see the rooms on either side. So not much privacy. The villa pools are not temperature controlled so it was cold after the rain. At $800 expect that small luxury of temperature control
Moved to the Le meridian phuket. Beautiful, lovely and superb location. Private beach and fair price

The staff brought a snack for us every night and we couldn't wait to see what the snack of the day was when we got back from being out. The towels and bits in the bathroom were changed daily.
The food was amazing and I looked forward to eating here everyday breakfast was lovely and dinner was amazing, including the service. I can't wait to come back

Regardless, the Clay Cottages rooms are absolutely beautiful. The bed is large and super comfortable. The bath room is very well put together. I’m a stickler about rain showers and the Clay Cottages have two rain showers, one indoors and the other outdoors with good, consistent pressure. The plunge pool for even the standard rooms is big enough to actually swim in.
As Hilton Diamond members, we had free breakfast included for our stay. It’s a hike to get to restaurant from some parts of the property; however, the hotel’s buggy service is efficient and the staff are super friendly (more on that later). The breakfast includes both “Western” and traditional Thai offerings. My wife thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with the Thai offerings. I’m a bit more pedestrian in my palate and ate mostly the Western offerings ordered from the menu and I found the quality of the food to be very good.
There’s a shuttle to the beach which we never used. However, by accident we did go to the beachfront, which we found to be a little drab. Patong Beach is nicer. We did not use the hotels spa during our stay.
A final word about the staff. We found that during our stay in Thailand at both this property and the Park Hyatt Bangkok that the staff were extremely nice, professional and courteous. Nevertheless, I would like to give special praise to the staff at the restaurant who we found to be extremely hospitable throughout our stay. A young lady by the name of Chiina and another whose name I recall as ChaCha in particular deserve special recognition. They greeted us warmly each morning and even remembered our preferences. I sincerely hope management reads this review and acknowledges their hospitality. I was also so impressed with the entire staff. I have always heard that the hospitality in Asia far surpasses what we regularly receive in the West, but I must confess even with this in mind I was blown away by the service we received during my stay. We will definitely be back on our next adventure to Phuket.

I had a late flight that arrived 2250pm Fang my personal concierge had gone home for the night. Mr. March was there to greet, sign me in then escort me to my room. He then gave me brief details on which numbers to call if I needed any assistance including the features of my entire villa. Even though the messenger app Line is big in Thailand, Mr. Fang " My Concierge" and I kept in contact via Whatsapp until the end of my trip. There was even a time when he was on his off day and still was able to assist me with my questions "I genually felt bad, not knowing he was off that day. The Food was plenty. There were some day's that I skipped lunch and dinner because breakfast was so hearty I was full all day lol.
My villa was the Clay Pool Cottage and the entire expierence was so cozy and spacious that I wanted to stay more than my entire seven nights lol. On site they do have tour scheduling and assistance if one desires to book a day tours at resonable prices to the outter islands, they also have a private car or van transportation to the airport. I can confirm the villias pool is salt water, and I think that is a good thing for those who don't care much for chlorine pools, and it is also good for guest who might be sensative to chlorine. I had no concerns with swimming in privacy, and even though it seems to be not enough trees covering the area, I can assure you that no one can't see you swiming from the ground where occupants arrive to the villas high above. It does rain a lot espcially in the monsoon season so ear plugs are provided if needed " The rain was so soothing."
As for the facilities and being a young person, I could've easily picked the typical night life, or adults only type of hotel, but I wanted something more secluded and tuned into nature, and searching through AMEX travels Keemala popped up. Booking my entire package though the portal went seamless. All in all, if you're a newlywed and desire something different than the typical accomidations, then this is the place for you. There is a call to prayer every morning around 5am, but that didn't bother me at all. It isn't loud like the calls in Marrakech or Cairo early morning calls. Food wise, there are so many options to choose from, they do ask guest if they should be concerned about allergies, so that's a good thing for those who do have certain allergies. All in all, I do planing returning to Phucket for another visit in the near future, and this facility is on the top of my list.
Once again, Thank You Mr. Fang and Mr. March, the nice cleaning ladies who cleaned my room everyday, and to all the cart drivers, chefs and aditional staff that took my requests over the phone for making my stay as comfortable as possible. I hope to meet you all again....
:-)

The yoga instructor was also incredibly professional, adding a relaxing and grounding element to our stay. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and dedicated to making our experience unforgettable.
Keemala is the perfect destination for a romantic and special occasion. I can’t recommend it enough!

The place is quirky and offers something different but the main USP here is the entire team at Keemala who are fantastic, so warm and professional and go above and beyond to look after their guests. We have so loved our time and honestly don’t want to leave.
We had a tree pool house and couldn’t get over all the little extras in the accommodation to make you feel at home.
Our Host ‘Lift’ was incredibly thoughtful, including going to a pharmacy to get me some medication for my knee I had hurt earlier on in our trip. He was always on hand to help but equally gave us space when we wanted to chill.
The housekeeping staff were top notch and thorough and visited twice a day, leaving little treats and surprises in our room each day.
The drivers of the golf carts, always prompt and cheerful - thank you. Especially to a couple that would make sure you got into your accommodation at night before driving off.
The team in the Restaurant - from the extremely talented chef, who made it her business to ensure you were happy with your meal. To the fabulous bar staff and their cocktail skills and our amazing waiting staff
Mieow and her “Doppelgänger” the lovely Pia - you always looked after us so well and Selma, cool and calm at all times.
You are all part of an amazing team and a real credit to Keemala and we really will miss you.
Thank you 🙏
