Kuilfontein Stable Cottages is an ideal stopover between the Johannesburg/Pretoria area - or even further north in South Africa - and the Cape. The place lies within view but out of sound of the N1, the main highway. There is little else to do. So it is a place for a one-night stand. The accommodation is in converted stables which...

Very clean and comfortable. Friendly family owners. Great history. The front desk chap by the name of "Last" was v good. The food didn't live up to the much touted standards (especially since it was lamb and in the Karoo!) otherwise wd have been 5 stars.

Utterly charming place - exceeded our expectations on every level. Lovely tranquil, rural setting. Loved the quirky aesthetic and the food was exceptional - venison pie was the best I've ever had - worth a trip to Colesberg alone. Hosts are warm and welcoming. Had a lovely walk around the farm finished off by a dip in the shady pool....

Stayed over from Jhb to Ctown- Accomodation was very comfortable and well decorated, Reception and service excellent but the biggest surprise was the excellent 3 course meal. My husband had the lamb and I had the peri peri chicken with veges. The starter of carpaccio and veges and the desert was 5 star. Can compete with any restaurant in Jhb....

The Kuilfonrein Stable Cottages provided a perfect half-way stop for me and my daughter en route to Stellenbosch University from Pietermaritzburg. We were greeted by the very kind and helpful Last, who looked after us very well during our stay. The guesthouse is absolutely fantastic - from its quaint, quirky rooms, wonderful decor, beautiful pool, garden and farm surroundings and...

Well-appointed accommodation on a sheep farm outside Colesberg, with spacious child and pet-friendly two bedroom cottages at The Paddocks. Relatively close to the highway, so no major detour to get there. Clean, with comfortable beds, good bathrooms, self-catering kitchen and an open-plan lounge with TV. The staff were friendly and efficient. Truly peaceful surroundings - an ideal place to unwind...

Kuilfontein Stables Cottages is a comfortable stop over on the route to or from Cape Town. The rooms are well decorated, comfortable and even has a TV. There is a pool to cool off in in the summer months and warm bedding will keep you warm in winter. The best part of a stop over is the dinners. First class...

We stayed with Penny, Lexi, Michelle and their competent team. What a lovely place, friendly, homely service. The dinner is a must - authentic home cooked South African food. Take your dessert and cognac (10 year old South African KWV brandy) outside after dinner and enjoy the cooler evening climate after a HOT day. Remember to put in your swimming...
