This is not a grand or luxurious castle. Just a state owned but family run charming b&b in a countryside setting. We stayed here for 1 night. Paid 95 euros for 2 bedrooms with queen beds, interconnected by a hallway and sharing a bathroom. Large bedrooms with stand alone cabinets for clothing and a sitting area. Furnishings are kept to...

I went to Hotel Veldenstein in Neuhaus with my extended family - there were 17 of us, including children ranging in age from 4 to 15 - for a family reunion. Neuhaus is small (~1500) but charming. We were there for three days enjoying the castle, with its great hospitality, beautiful views, good food and drink, even a playground for...

We stayed at the hotel guesthouse as part of a family reunion. Our relatives came to America from this pretty Franconian village. The surrounding Fränkische Schweiz (Little Switzerland section of Franconia in upper Bavaria) is full of interesting sights, great hiking and climbing, and caves. The kids particularly enjoyed the sommerrodelbahn in nearby Pottenstein. The castle itself is a big...

During a recent trip to Germany, I really wanted to stay in a castle for one of the nights. I found Castle Veldenstein online and booked my stay, though I was a bit wary due to the incrediably low price (the lowest of any stay I had during my 2 week trip). I couldn't be more happy. The room was...

My wife and I spent one weekday night at this interesting castle hotel. It only has a few rooms and we were fortunate enough to stay on a night when there were only two other couples (both German) staying at the castle. Though the rooms are a bit tired, they were certainly up to the German rigid standard of cleanliness....

This is a castle ruin in Neuhaus am der Pegnitz which has a hotel built into one of the walls. However, we were lucky to locate the owner of an apartment built into one of the castle towers. The area is not touristy, serene and naturally beautiful with numerous hiking trails and restaurants offering delicious Franconian meals. About a half...

The castle hotel is very clean and well kept. They have a good restuarant and the owner/manager speaks fairly good English. We stayed 2 nights in the family room which consisted of 2 seperate bedrooms and a private bath. With breakfast included it was 74 euro per night. What a deal! There is also a train station that's about a...
