Just an hour north of Brisbane airport we found the ecolodge to be an ideal spot to recover from jet lag and see a unique part of the country. The owner went out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed including finding an electrical adapter we needed for the rest of our trip. The gardens were...

We recently stayed here overnight on the long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in a double room with ensuite which was maybe a little bit smaller than I was expecting but comfortable enough. After check-in we headed off down the road to do the Mount Tibrogargan Circuit walk which took us just over an hour. Upon our...

We were looking for a suitable place to stay with our two grandchildren aged 4 and 6 when I read about the Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge. I was drawn to the idea of the train carriages and different styles of accommodation set in beautiful surroundings. We were certainly not disappointed. We stayed in a family forest room, which was entirely appropriate...

Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff. My partner and I stayed in the Victorian train carriage, which was bigger than I expected. We had a cheese platter on arrival which was lovely. Gorgeous relaxing surroundings. Handy to Australia Zoo! We will definitely be back. Only negative thing was one of the windows in the carriage kitchen didn't have a blind. The sunlight...

We are so glad you enjoyed our Victorian Train Carriage. The only one of its type in private ownership in Australia and about 130 years old as well. Look forward to seeing you back next time.

... is the advertising and that really is what you get. The lodge is made of several old restored train carriages and is situated in the middle of the forrests in the Glass house Mountains. The rooms have no TV but we didn't miss it and enjoyed the view from the balkony watching the birds.

Our birdlife is incredible isn't it ? Guests just like yourself have spotted over 150 different species here at the Ecolodge over the past 12 years. Each day is a "symphony" of the birds. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.

It is situated in a really beautiful and isolated place, yet it is only a ten minute drive from the Australia Zoo. I thought our room was small but comfortable with air conditioning and en suite bathroom with shower. We shopped locally and cooked our own supper in the kitchen in the restored railway carriage. The following day we climbed...

This is a well developed little place with heaps of character, not only in the accommodation choices themselves but also in the grounds. On the premises you can take an Orchard Walk or a Flestering Walk, and the property is within walking distance of Mt Tibrogargan (two great hikes) or driving distance to many other places. There's lots of info...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of a National Heritage treasure, the Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge offers a unique ecological experience of this fascinating area of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in South East Queensland. It makes a fantastic base from which to explore the 26 million year old volcanic plugs that make up this incredible landscape, as well as the coastal beaches and hinterland villages. During your stay at the Ecolodge (set on 5 acres of orchard and forest beside a small creek) you can discover bush tucker, enjoy nocturnal frog spotting and bird watching (over 60 different types of birds have been seen). A great place to relax and unwind in this peaceful and quiet nature haven with its birds, butterflies, dragonflies, and even kangaroos. National park walks start 400 metres from the front entrance. Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is just 10 minutes away and the Ecolodge is only an hour north of Brisbane. ... more   less
