Hidden in the Drakensbergen in a stunning environment you find this beautiful hotel. The main building has several lounges, a dining room and a cozy deck overlooking the lake. The building closest to the main building has about 5 double rooms. And in the other buildings are the cottages. We stayed in a executive cottage, very nice and spacious. Beautiful...

Cleopartra Mountain Farmhouse is indeed a gourmet paradise. Fresh, local ingredients used to make sumptuous meals (breakfast and dinner included in rate). Very romantic setting. Staff wonderful. Sizwe and Leza deserve a special mention. Not suitable for children. Rooms comfortable and well appointed (although a carpet in bathroom would have been welcome - tiles freezing!)

This is a wonderful weekend getaway with a strong emphasis on food and really nice attentive service from the hosts who have a great sense of humour and were lovely to be with. I didn't find the food over the top and since there are nice snacks offered in the afternoons two good solid meals per day did not seem...

All I can say is, "WOW!" I have been to dozens and dozens of luxury resorts in all corners of the world, and Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse without a doubt makes the "A-List." Beautiful grounds, wonderfully-decorated public rooms, outstanding service, and a fabulous room (I was in the "Scandinavian Naturalist's Suite") hit all the right buttons. And then there is the...

We stayed at Cleopatra with our 2 daughters in July, and were thoroughly spoilt with wonderful rooms, incredible service from the staff and of course the amazing gourmet food! Even breakfast was a gourmet 3 course affair!. Being winter, there were roaring fireplaces everywhere, and although we didn't get round to do much walking or hiking, it was just as...

Lovely relaxing retreat in a great location. Superb food expertly served and presented on stylish crockery. Skip lunch though if you want to appreciate your dinner! Loved the pre dinner explanation of the menu and the interesting little tales regarding the history of the place - totally engaging. We felt so welcome and all the staff were so friendly and...

My wife booked us in at Cleopatra for a romantic weekend. It was nothing short of superb. The Poynton's love of the area and the serious love of food are why you go. The tarred road from Nottingham Rd is potholed to hell so take it easy but its a a pretty drive. The staff are fantastic and the rooms...

Deep into the "Little Berg" of the Drakensberg mountains you find Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse, owned and managed by the original founders of Granny Mouse Farmhouse. It is a small up market boutique hotel with only 11 rooms (no kids under 12). Aimed at the foodie, the restaurant serves excellent set menus that differ every night. The dinner is a bit...

We stayed for two nights in March 2015 as part of a 34 night road trip, so this review is relatively objective. This time we stayed in one of the standard rooms, which was cosy and comfortable, complete with a log burner. The room and bathroom were compact and frankly are in need of an overhaul and update, but, we...
