Setting is everything for this property, overlooking the beach. The room is adequately furnished and the bathroom a good size with plenty of shelving. A nice sofa/ coffee table area for relaxing. Small kitchenette which is adequately equipped and dining table. Super king size bed made from driftwood which was a nice feature. The owners do not meet you or...

Was fortunate to stay one night at Curio Bay in December 2015, wish I could've stayed longer. Perfect location to unwind, relax & read a book or two, away from the world and electronics. Stunning location by the beach, slept with curtains open entire night and woke up to sunrise whilst still in bed. Heard penguins all throughout the night,...

Curio bay is a lovely beach house, perfect location. You can walk to the petrified forest. Amble along the beach and watch the dolphins surfing. The accommodation is private, clean and very comfortable. Excellent bed. There is a microwave, fridge and stovetop elements. There are no local restaurants or grocery stores - only a small store on the campground. Bring...

We stayed two nights near the end of our tour of New Zealand. it was well worth it, as it was nice to stay somewhere simple after hotels, although the studio was very well equipped with a kitchen area, huge comfortable bed and sofa. The view over the bay was magnificent, and just a few steps down to the beach.The...

Curio Bay is a tranquil and beautiful wildlife haven in one of the prettiest parts of NZ. This accommodation is just what we were after to fully enjoy the peace and quiet and views. Clean, simple luxury and plenty of penguins close to the house at night

We were coming towards the end of our three week tour in NZ and we had booked a studio at Curio Bay as an overnight on our way through to Te Anau. We collected our key from Nick at about 3.30 and he told us that the yellow eyed penguins had been coming in early at the moment and as...

As we neared the Curio Bay area, driving in the rain and gusty winds and not much of a town in sight, we were wondering what kind of accommodations will greet us. And wow were we surprised! We booked the boutique studio, and it was such a comfortable refuge from the elements. great insulation - it matters when the winds...

The past reviews say it all. VERY good accommodation and pretty good price for what it is. Only one slightly (very slightly) annoying thing is that the bathroom vanity is quite high and the basin is also high sided, so for a hobbit like me (who shaves the old fashion way) it’s pretty difficult. However, overall very nice size room,...

Studio is right on the beach and the views are stunning. The bed and bedding was so cozy. Overall it was clean and nicely decorated. The good toiletries were a nice touch. I loved having no tv and wifi, they had cards available and that was really fun. Kitchen is well equipt. It was a lovely relaxing stay and I'm...

What a wonderful place to spend a few days getting away from it all. The lack of TV and WiFi was a real treat. Although the weather was mostly cold and rainy, the warm studio accommodation with amazing views of the bay was the perfect spot to sit/lie and read, chat, and drink hot chocolate. The bed was exceptionally comfortable,...
