When I checked in I was given the option of a "remodeled" room or one that had not been done yet (for about 25% lower price) I looked at both and chose the cheaper one which was a bit plainer and with a slightly stained carpet, but very clean none the less. During my 2 night stay two minor issues...

Stopped over for lunch, first time visit. Intriguing building with friendly staff. The bar area is simply amazing with fascinating artwork. The food was excellent and absolutely great value for money. A must stop if you are in the Zululand area.

We stayed at The George for three nights. Our rooms were spacious, tastefully decorated and very clean, with comfortable beds, beautiful (and lovely smelling) bed linens, and an electric kettle with a variety of teas. The entire hotel is a feast for the eyes, with interesting artwork and historical photographs throughout. How lucky for us that we were there over...

I took myself slightly off the beaten track and into the heart of Zululand. I travelled from the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains, across country, via the SA presidents lavish homestead and many small Zulu villages to Eshowe. I stayed at the George Hotel which made an ideal base to explore the area. The hotel had everything I needed A...

Live music (and a 'party') every Friday night......the hotel brews its own beer, Zulu Blond, which won an international brew award. The owner is dedicated to running a great hotel in a very beautiful...

Hotel is being refurbished so was quite noisy. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Live music in the bar was AWESOME but it would have been nice to have been able to taste the locally brewed Zulu Blonde beer that has become famous and is brewed in the brewery on the premises but sadly there was no stock!!! I will...

The welcome was warm, the room old-fashioned, comfortable and clean and had a beautiful view over the forests and rolling green hills of Zululand. Zulu Blond, the local beer is brewed on site and is delicious and refreshing and the food is excellent. The first night I had a pizza (wood-fired oven) that is worth coming back to and the...

Me and a friend got recommended to visit this place since the great artist Peter Engblom is located at The George. Not only is Peter and his art amazing and worth a visit, the hotel and its staff is one of a kind. Mackie really did everything she could to sort out visits in a Zulu village and other must...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the George Hotel. The staff was welcoming, and arranged a tour of the nearby village including a Zulu wedding, which was a highlight of our vacation. Many thanks to Joe, who is a fabulous guide and made us feel very welcome, and allowed us to learn about his culture. The room was spacious and...
