Booked a 3 bedroom villa (Villa Menari) but due to some last minute changes, they allocated 4 bedroom Villa Amman.

Stayed with family for 3 nights. Rooms are clean and quite spacious with all facilities.
Service is great and staff are very courteous.

Thanks to Manager Nurul, Butler Kumong Agus (used to come early morning and prepare breakfast for all of us) and other housekeeping staff who made our stay very memorable and pleasant.

My husband & I are both aged in our 60’s and had a total of a 7 day stay at “The Residence”, which is located in Seminyak, Bali. Our stay was in 2 parts as the reason we were in Bali was for our daughters wedding. We stayed 4 nights before the wedding & 3 nights after the wedding, with 2 nights at the wedding venue in between.

Our Villa was the 2 bedroom Villa Lanai.

So, first of all, after months of meticulously researching many accommodation options, something about “The Residence” & the 2 bdr Villa Lanai kept drawing me back. It ticked “almost” every box we needed it to, (central location in Seminyak & only minutes walk to “Eat St, & restaurants & shopping, yet it’s entrance is in a laneway off the main road, private, spacious, 24 hr security, gated complex, private pool, 2 large king bedrooms both with ensuite, air con throughout, & a butler who comes and cooks breakfasts in the Villa every morning). There’s also a free one-way airport pickup.

Being “high season”, & at over $A400 a night, (which includes 15.5% tax), the Villa certainly wasn’t cheap & was at the top end of our budget, but we decided it was “do-able”. Understandably, I do expect quite a lot for that price and did meet expectations.

I booked the stay with Bali Villa Escapes who handle many Villa properties around Bali. They insist on 50% upfront deposit within 3 days of booking, something I was extremely wary of & which did concern me somewhat. The balance is due 60 days before arrival. If arrival is under 60 days, then the entire amount is due within 3 days of booking. They were however (thank goodness) brilliant & kept me fully informed throughout the whole process. A special thanks to Ade at BVE for all his assistance with handling the booking.

“The Residence” and Villa Lanai didn’t disappoint. It was really lovely. Reception staff, especially Nural was truly wonderful. So warm, welcoming & genuine. Check in was a breeze which included a welcome drink, & a large fruit bowl filled with tropical fruits & she repeated all of that on arrival at our 2nd stay. in fact, as soon as the car pulled up in the driveway for the second stay, she greeted me with a huge hug & was genuinely happy to see us back & really interested in how our daughters wedding went. There’s definitely a “personal aspect” and a real authenticity with this property and the staff that you wouldn’t necessarily get with a regular hotel & I love that.

The property is exactly as pictured. “Romi” our chef who would come to the Villa every morning & cook gorgeous breakfasts was the loveliest young man. Always smiling, happy & wanting to please. Then he would discreetly clean up, as well clean both bedrooms & bathrooms. Really excellent !

There’s a lot to like about the Villa itself. As I said, it ticks many boxes. The pool is a good size & cleaned daily & the gardens also hosed & looked after daily. The bedrooms are large as are the ensuites. There’s a large kitchen as well as a lounge & dining room, & the beds are firm but comfy. There’s an also a large wooden deck poolside that also has a dining setting for 4 as well as a large lounge style day bed with lots of cushions to just lounge by the pool. Bottled water is provided free of charge each day. It’s truly a “home-away-from-home” & the space you have is fantastic. If I had to fault anything at all, it would be that there are a few elements in different parts of the Villa that are a little “tired” and dated, but these are really very minor issues and they don’t detract at all from the overall feel of the place.

Also, … & this is just a personal thing with us, rather than a issue with the Villa, but both king beds in the bedrooms are designed with an external frame that goes around the whole outside of the bed which is something neither of us are particular fans of. I like & prefer a bed that I can just flop straight into and although I was aware of the external framing around the bed when I booked (as the pics were advertised), we found that being aged in our 60’s, it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to clamour over in order to actually get both in & out of bed. I found that this was actually a little more of a “pain” than I thought it would be, but I also realise I knew about the framing around the bed when I booked so I can’t really hold that against them whatsoever. I just think that perhaps a minor change to the design of the beds would be really beneficial for all guests regardless of age, mobility, or disability to get in & out of bed more easily.

The other slight negative is that the front of The Residence property faces quite a busy toad, & corner, & since Villa Lanai is the first Villa you get to towards the front of the property, you do slightly hear the noise of the traffic, which isn’t always ideal at night if you’re trying to sleep. It’s minor though, really minor.

Overall, it wasn’t WOW, although it could easily be just with a bit of a freshen up in a few areas, but it is honestly a truly exceptional property with lots going for it. I’d probably rate the Villa itself at 4.5 stars, but in terms of our experience there, it was truly lovely, and for that reason, I’ve rated it 5 star. Would I recommend it? …. yes I would 100%. Would I stay here again? … Absolutely.

We stayed in the Villa Jepun, which was a 3 bedroom villa. In reality its two large bedrooms and one small kids room (with no safe). During our welcome speech we were advised there's a safe in every room, which wasn't the case.
Positives: cannot praise our butler Hani enough who cooked for us daily breakfast and cleaned our rooms. She was amazing, friendly and attentive. Location of the villa is a short stroll to Eat Street in Seminyak and they have an Indomaret next door. The kitchen is fully contained so you can cook your own food if you like. Drinking water was readily available via a water dispenser which was great. I had asked for a birthday cake for my friend which they kindly provided free of charge.

Negatives: we had a crazy storm one night and lost power, we did message the Villa Manager Nural but never received a reply. We had to walk to security in the rain to get help. For a few days straight one of the main bathrooms did not have any hot water at all, also during the rain the roof was leaking in the lounge area (not excessive but droplets coming through).
Also every morning we had the pool guy and gardener come in to clean, this is the second time we have stayed in a villa and I suggest to do this when we have left to go out as we would've liked some privacy after breakfast.

For the price, I expected better service especially from the VIlla Manager. Only Hani made us felt special and welcome.

We had the most amazing stay at The Residence Villa Shanti. Dwin our Bulter was outstanding nothing was to much trouble and his polite, welcoming and attention to detail really made our stay in the Villa so enjoyable. Also Harry who helped Dwin was happy & helpful during our stay. The Villa was large , clean and tasteful decorated. The pool was the hub for the family and we also enjoyed having breakfast cooked by Dwin ever morning . I would highly recommend Villa Shanti to any group of 6 - 8 people .

We have just returned from a 10 day stay in Bali with 5 other families with all of us staying at the Residence Seminyak. The staff, from the office to the villa staff, security and the grounds people were awesome. So friendly and smiling at all times. The individual villas are beautiful and all uniquely a little different. We stayed in the Siam Villa, which was perfect for our family of four. Each Villa has its own butler. Our butler on the day and Tedi (in fact) was very helpful and friendly made the stay very enjoyable and relaxing. Siam is the Villa with less sun around the pool than the others, but has a great viewing deck upstairs. The only thing I would suggest would be more seating around the pool may be good. But that's just a minor thing. I would definitely stay again as the location of the residence in Seminyak is very close to everything.

The Residence Seminyak Villas are able to booked via Bali Villa Escapes among other agency names they go by.

At first I was a bit cautious as I normally like to book direct and stay at hotels. But once everything was booked an confirmed we were well informed by our travel coordinator.

Pick up from airport and check-in was seamless, service of staff very friendly and professional and breakfast always great.

Even though villas around the one we booked (Villa Jepun) were in use, we hardly ever saw or heard other guests which was great.

There is 24 hours security.

The Residence Villa Siam.
We booked this Villa for 2 couples first holiday in Bali since the pandemic and it exceeded our expectations.
We usually stay at motels but to have the spaciousness of this Villa with a private pool and an absolute gem of a butler ( Made) come and make us Breakfast every morning we will definitely stay here again.
Made’s breakfast was restaurant quality and something we looked forward to every day.
After we left for the day Made would be back with a team to clean and maintain the Villa, pool and gardens and even fill our fridge on request of what we wanted.
Cannot recommend highly enough how great this complex is.

Our family of 10 stayed in Villa Amman & Shanti. Excellent location and extremely comfortable for us all. Terrific staff with Komang, Bom-Bom, Dwin and Harry. Highly recommend having an in-house dinner arranged by the staff with a personal chef. Thank you also to the reception staff, security, pool and garden attendants. You all made our stay extremely enjoyable.

Hi Sarah - We can take care of your laundry, but it will be sent out, or across the road is a place that will do it for you, with a same day service, and cheap as chips :-)

Dear David Bali Villa Escapes is a legitimate villa agency and we take plenty of bookings from them and have a great relationship with us - we cannot recommend them enough. We have found that they are very helpful and caring to all our guests. They have an office in Australia simply to facilitate payments in AUD, as that can sometimes be difficult in Indonesia. We hope this helps Regards from all of us at The Residence Seminyak

Hi there, How far are you for the main section of Seminyak. Also how far to the beach?
Bali, Indonesia10 contributions
As you come out of The Residence entrance, turn right and you walk straight about 200 meters which takes you to Jalan Laksmana, and a bunch of restaurants. If you turn right at this point, another 150 meters will bring you to Seminyak Square and next to that is the new Seminyak Village with its high end boutiques. A must try is Tiger Palm with its fusion of Indonesian/Thai cuisine. Opposite this is Sisterfields....

Dear Bhima Thank you for your inquiry. Sadly dogs are not allowed at the villa as they have a tendency to make noise that will affect other guests. Best regards

Dear Ga19by85 Thank you for you inquiry. Events would be possible at The Residence, Seminyak if all the villas were booked for this event in order to avoid noise disturbance to our other guests. Best regards
