Very new hotel with beautiful artwork and ambience. Located on Toorak road close to shops, cafe, tram stop and restaurants. Reception staff are really professional and friendly. Parking is off site, of reasonable cost but if you have heavy carry bags a bit of a walk and there is no parking whatsoever outside due to location if you want to check in. This should be mentioned on the website as we had issues trying to find anywhere close to park late in the day in such a location even be able to check in. Rooms are small but functional, big rain shower head, bed is new and may become more comfortable over time. Free mini bar was appreciated. We would return.

We booked two rooms in this amazing hotel as it allowed us to bring our dog. What an awesome stay, from the staff who were so accommodating and friendly to the complimentary breakfast, this is a hotel which provides all the extra details that you don't think you need but realise how great they are when you have it. Whilst the room is on the smaller side, having a water tap in the room and complimentary minibar meant we didn't need to go out and get those extra snacks or drinks. It's also in a great location in South Yarra and despite the outside busyness, remains extra quiet.
Ultimately, it's the little touches - such as the dog bed and bowl, automatic blinds, multiple power and USB points and the smiles that greet you, that make this hotel a winner. We greatly enjoyed our stay, so much so that upon needing a hotel for a work trip, I booked straight back in!

I'm not normally the kind of person who goes out of their way to find a particularly good hotel (or write extensive hotel reviews, but here we are). Hotels usually end up being a place to drop my stuff when I'm out during the day and to sleep in when I'm back at night, but my stay at Ovolo has completely changed how I think about these homes away from home.
When I had a few days in Melbourne, I was mostly looking for a hotel with a good combination of price and access to interesting things, and the CBD was my first choice. After a long and unsatisfying browse of various expensive CBD hotels, some without windows in the room, I had a look at Ovolo. This hotel (with a suspiciously high rating of 4.9 on booking.com, which turned out to be completely warranted) was priced slightly below average-rating CBD hotels, and it was very close to the well-connected South Yarra train station, so I decided to take a chance on this funky place.
What struck me the most was how the entire experience seemed to be curated to make my time in the hotel as nice and enjoyable as possible. The reception staff were wonderful and very friendly, the decoration can best be described as funky in the best kind of way, there was a snack bar with free sweets in the lobby, and the restaurant in the front was decorated in a cool and unique way, which hinted at the quality of the breakfast I would be treated to in the morning.
The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom was huge for hotel standards, with full accessibility. The outside wall was a full window with a beautiful view of an inner suburb lined with trees and cute houses. The bed was comfy, and the aircon was very responsive and kept the room at a the right temperature with ease.
I hadn't quite believed the claim of "free minibar" when I booked, but sure enough, there were two beers, some soft drinks, and two small bottles of wine in the fridge, and they were restocked the day after when I had finished (some of) them! In the afternoon, the guests were treated to "social hour", which included free glasses of rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, or beer, with tasty little tapas. This lasted for an hour, and the mood was very jolly at the end, which gave the experience a cool old-school traveler vibe, kind of out of an Hercule Poirot novel.
My stay was only four days, but I will absolutely be coming back to Ovolo next time I need a place to stay in Melbourne, and I will recommend this lovely hotel to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and cool stay in a nice part of Melbourne with excellent connections. I didn't know that hotels within my price range could provide such excellent experiences, and I'm very happy to have found out!

Great location, by paying an upgrade to a Boogie room I expected some space but it was very limited.
I was not a fan of the glassed in toilet/shower & lack of bathroom. Absolutely no bathroom privacy.
The breakfast included in the luxury escapes deal offered a choice of 3 items of a much larger menu, it felt stingy. Having a 5 night stay, the breakfast options became boring fast.
Excellent in room safe for laptop storage. Not recommended if you need to conduct business during the stay as no desk/table in room & the music absolutely blares in the shared common space.
Unfortunately room service is only available on the days the restaurant is open. The mini bar service is a welcome addition.
Local construction noises started at 6am on a public holiday, not a fault of the hotel but was not a nice start to a day with a late check out.
Staff were fine, everything was fine, just didn’t suit my needs or meet my expectations.

Probably one of the nicest/coolest 4 star hotels I've stay at. The room, while compact (I stayed in the cozy room) was extremely comfortable, clean and well appointed. The staff were all friendly and personable. The facilities feel new, the lobby and main bar/restaurant is very cool and seemed quite popular throughout the weekend. Location is also great; less than a 5 minute walk to South Yarra station with trams running just outside. I would absolutely recommend this place for someone who is looking for a nice, comfortable stay without having to fork out the exuberant amount for a typical 5 star hotel.

To be honest, my experience with Ovolo was underwhelming. I liked the location and the Boogie room I stayed in was well laid out with lots of storage for a room that small. The shower was good and I liked having a filtered water tap in the room. The mini bar was free, but very limited. I loved the free Lolly bar in the foyer. But there were some negatives - my bathroom was clean enough, but a buildup of gunge in the corners and dusty floor behind the bin indicated a lack of regular deep cleaning. I was disappointed to discover that parking is a block from the hotel, located around the corner in Chapel Street, with no pick up/drop off zone at the hotel and no prior information about the off site parking. I also have to mention that even though breakfast was included in my rate, I had to at an extra surcharge for pancakes. Altogether the hotel felt gimmicky and the overall experience of my stay didn’t represent value for money.

I couldn’t be happier with Ovolo South Yarra. I stayed for 4 nights on holidays and had a wonderful time.
The staffs was a professional and helpful and the location of the hotel is pretty close to my destination as well as tram and metro station. It took only 2 min to walk.
Also they provide a amazing food in the restaurant is called Lona Misa which is plant base, I totally enjoyed it plus they offer you complimentary breakfast:)
And the room condition was tip-top, It was clean and comfy. Moreover, if you have plan to keep it fit, they also offer you local gym 24/7, I went for 3 times during my stay!

My partner and I had a one-night stay at Ovolo, and we can't fault it. The staff were very accommodating, responding to our phone request for wine glasses and ice to our room within 15 minutes. The hotel boasts amazing amenities like a complimentary lolly bar, a games area with a top-notch pool table, a free mini bar, and a laundry room at no cost. When we checked out, they kindly stored our luggage, enabling us to explore the surroundings unburdened. Its fantastic location near South Yarra station and coffee shops added to its charm.

We arrived very early from London,, exhausted.. the reception staff were very helpful, took our luggage and tried to organise an earlier check in - we sat and had a delicious brekky/coffee - the location for us was perfect to reconnect with all our friends/family before we headed down the coast.. the rooms were spotless & cosy & a great coffee machine which is essential with jet lag! Wonderful cocktails and food in the evenings & a pool table downstairs - would highly recommend

I love that Ovolo South Yarra provides a more affordable room option for the solo traveller! It meant I was able to escape for two nights on my own and didn’t break the budget. The staff also go above and beyond to make your stay that much better. I really enjoyed the lovely breakfast staff and the coffee is literally the best I have had in a longggggg time! Kudos to the smiley and super friendly barista! The free minibar is an absolutely amazing bonus and was tremendously enjoyed! Love that you can order room service or choose to dine in the restaurant downstairs. Plus being a bit nervous travelling on my own I really appreciated having access to the hotel restaurant and bar so I could still be out and about but not too far! I didn’t feel lonely at all! Thanks to Caleb and Harper at the Backroom Bar for the social hour and the spicy margaritas! Really can’t recommend this clean, centrally located, modern hotel enough! Loved it!
