I’ve stayed at this hotel previously and been happy. Unfortunately on my latest visit I found the property was very tired. The walls in the room needed a paint, the carpet needed to be replaced and the bed needed retirement. Indeed my bed was so old I rolled into the middle and I had to ask 3 times for something to be done - in the end all they did was put one of those toppers on. They also forgot to service my room on day one and when I asked they said the cleaners had gone home?! The wifi is super hard to use as well - you have to keep forcing it to go a login page. No smart tv.
It wouldn’t take much to get this property back up to scratch. Until then I would have in your mind this is a 3 star property when researching prices.

The couple stayed for 5 days from the end of the year to the 2nd day of the New Year. The location is good at the hotel which is 2 minutes from the station about 15 minutes by train or tram from the center of the city. The rooms are apartment-style and are very convenient with automatic dishwashers, automatic washing machines and dryers. There is a supermarket and a liquor store about 5 minutes on foot. There is housekeeping except Sundays. The upper floor overlooked the skyscrapers in the city center and the fireworks of the New Year were wonderful. Both the staff and the men and women are friendly and helpful. I recommend it to everyone.

Great location, close to shops, cafes, restaurants, train line etc. Trains a little noisy on the train line side, but the night view more than makes up for this and is the best side of the hotel to choose. 1 bed apartment features a large bedroom, comfy bed and pillows. Sitting area not huge but adequate, as is the kitchen and bathroom. Staff are friendly yet very professional and go more than out of their way to get you anything you may need to make your stay comfortable. Pricing at this hotel is a bonus, as a long stay customer, that was highly beneficial. Would recommend this hotel as a either a stopover or for a more lengthy stay. Would happily stay again.

over charged me couple of times. Due to bad experience, no hot water, dishwasher not working, group stayed for 2 days, another 5 days, paid, not lived there. I told reception 9:40 am 10/01/2025. However, my credit card accidentally charged$1000+, emailed me to advise cannot refund to my CC, need EFT instead. Email said"If you could kindly please provide the bank details for this credit card we would like to process the refund for this accidental charge immediately." Provided my account details on 10/01/2025, email chased up a few times, upto now after COB 17/01/2025, more than 5 business days, not only the "accidental charge" not received, but also, my bond not refunded, although I was told my bond was released on 10/01/2025 and emailed me the screenshot. We cleaned the rooms, even cleaned dishes, put in dishwasher to dry, and showed the pictures to the reception.

First time at South Yarra and we hoped it was better than Punthill in Flinders Lane which has gone backward over the years. Hopes were dashed. At least the appartments have rooms and carpet unlike some places with open design. But maintenance is poor and service is pathetic for more than one or two night stays. After three days we requested the room be serviced and only got some garbage emptied and towels replaced. No top up of toiletries or tea/coffee. Used toiletries deliberately left on the shower floor was ignored. Kitchenette is minimal with limited pans, cutlery and crockery limited to three items. Reception is polite but attended from a back room on demand. They have an ineffective taxi online order system that is not reliable. No doubt I’ll get one of their standard responses to this review saying ‘thanks and we will look into it’s. But I doubt anything will change for the better.

We stayed here frequently before covid. Booked anticipating another great stay but sadly the place has gone downhill in many ways. Furnishings and fittings are shabbier and worn, but worst is the lack of cleanliness. Our apartment appeared to not have been cleaned from the guests prior, there were very few amenities and over our lengthy stay the room was not cleaned at all. One day only a cursory pull up of the beds. Bins unemptied for a few days despite the please make up my room sign on the door handle. Day 5 and no fresh towels or linen, tea bag replenish etc. Very dusty. The cleaners trolley parked on the floor but who knows where they were as it certainly wasn't anywhere near our apartment. The common areas and lifts aren't particularly clean either. The reception staff are very pleasant and were sorry that our rooms weren't being cleaned but nothing changed and no reparations. Management could be addressing this issue by e.g. checking half a dozen random rooms daily. We'd planned weekly stays here for several months this year but sadly will need to try elsewhere until more effort is made around the hygiene of the place. (Add $35 per day for parking)

Never again Booked for 2 adults and 1 child cost was quoted $361.08. Credit card was charged $437.55. Added parking of $35 a night although it was supposed to be included in initial price. No notification of painting of floors being undertaken at time of booking Got to motel, reception told me to check room for sofa bed if not come back Got to floor, paint on corridor walls were wet and whole floor stunk of wet paint. Caused me breathing issues Sofa bed present, but linen pr towel for chilld Returned to reception and advised them no linen. They advised $50 per night for linen. Agreed that 3rd person was included in initial quote and room was unsuitable due to paint fumes Given new room. No sofa bed or roll away. Went back to reception. Reception check another room level 8 that wasn't suitable Requested refund. Was denied "due to policy" Management came out. Gave room on 11th floor that was suitable. Sofa bed made up by house keeping. Later that evening realised $100 had been taken out of my account without permission. The extra $170 taken without permission prevented our family from doing the planned activities we had come to do.in the first place. My 8 year old cried as we broke our promise to her Blinds in new room were see through shades and offered no privacy Hot water system located in Bedroom cupboard dripped loudly after night shower keeping us awake. Hot copper pipe exposed caused oh&s risk. Hot water dripped again at 5.30am. Fridge hummed loudly all night Air conditioner was rattling and loud. Next door neighbours partied until about 5.30am, but nit hotels fault I could forgive most of thse except the following :
Money taken from my account without permission or warning after discussion and agreement it would not be taken for linen and parking was included in initial cost - effectively stealing Curtains providing no privacy Hot water copper pipe being exposed in bedroom cupboard (oh&s risk) Painted floors offered as rooms for hire at full price (oh&s risk)

I stayed for two nights. I arrived late on the first night of my stay. The room was certainly very run down. My first impression on entering the room and using the bathroom was surely the housekeepers can clean the toilet (really) not nice to open the lid to find an unclean toilet. Drain in the bathroom vanity sink was blocked on using, no exhaust in the bathroom. No bedside table lamps or power points beside the bed which in this day and age is unusual with the need to charge a phone etc. On the second day the toilet was still not cleaned (didn't feel I should give the toilet a good brush clean), no coffee replaced and the instant was dried up from dampness I assume. On the upside:The staff on reception were pleasant on my arrival. Very short walk to Toorak Road and restaurants etc but I would have expected more from a Punthill apartment. I hope they look at their housekeeping cleanliness for future guests.

Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. The room is not clean, no backing on the remotes, food left in the cupboard, dust everywhere, the couch is so uncomfortable you might as well sit on the floor, the wifi doesn’t work and the beds are so uncomfortable. The switches on the stove don’t have any numbers on them and you don’t know which one you have turned on until it warms up so unsafe. The sink tap is the wrong way so when you want cold water you get the hot water. With small children this is so unsafe. The oven has never been cleaned and was still dirty from the other guests before us. We also got told the wrong room number when we checked in! Just don’t don’t it, I will never be back.

My first impression was it seemed very pleasant. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that the room was not strictly speaking a studio apartment, but a bedroom with a kitchen in the entrance hall section. The room is average size and very big bed is very comfortable. There is not much storage space. No chest of drawers and small hanging space in very small wardrobe area. Hot water tank in cupboard however does ensure lots of hot water. The kitchen is well equipped but there is no worktop to even do something as simple as preparing a sandwich. It makes trying to do anything food wise incredibly tricky. Bathroom is fine, but it steams up so quickly as the extraction fan not adequately working. Lighting in bathroom makes it impossible to do makeup etc. Lighting throughout not great. Ceiling spotlights never that great. Bedside lamp adequate but not brilliant. WiFi connection is unsafe, my device refused to acknowledge it. And I would never use an unsafe connection anyway. I bought local SIM card with data provision instead. Balcony area terribly dirty, I guess it's hard to keep outside areas clean but it needed attention. However general cleanliness very good in rooms, lots of fresh towels etc. Location is excellent for the trains, and shops, restaurants etc. Lulu whites next door really good.
Overall I'd recommend this place for short stays, but definitely not for longer stays. I was there for twenty five nights and it was too long.
