We stayed at The Greenhoose for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The rooms were small but comfortable, the meals we had on premises were great and all staff members were good friendly hosts.
Our principal aim was bird watching and sight seeing and we were very happy on both fronts. You certainly need a vehicle to get around and Paul from Lockhart Hire Cars was able to provide a most suitable vehicle. Overall a great place to visit and we hope to get back again.
Oh I almost forgot….great barista coffee available at the Greenhoose to start your day!!

This was the most amazing family holiday we have been on. Staying in such a remote location would not have been so comfortable and welcoming without the wonderful Greenhoose accommodation and meals. Deb looked after us like family and went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time. Thanks so much!

Oh Celia, thank you for the lovely review! It was wonderful having your family here and the kids were amazing! We were thrilled you chose Greenhoose for Michael's trip down memory lane to the Cape and each of you were a delight to look after. What a pleasure it was catering for you. We do hope you can get back here one day. All the best, Deb ... thank you for the awesome family photo you left :-)

This is a very remote location in Far North Queensland where a family has devoted their lives to offer an incredible conservational retreat. The rooms are what is know colloquially as ensuite donga’s. Very comfortable and staying very close to nature. Lovely home cooked dinner and basic breakfast but certainly a must do!!

Stu and Lyn always make our stay memorable. Always ready for a chat. The care and attention to detail around The Greenhoose is a credit to all who work there. The gardens and accommodation since I was last there have been upgraded remarkably.
They are also very keen to learn all they can about the unique wildlife at their doorstep.
Looking forward to my next trip there to see how the campground has progressed.

One of the best places to stay but definitely the best place in the Iron Range area. The rooms are suitable, mostly fairly small, but a lovely covered balcony area outside each room with a table and chairs where you can sit to idle away the evenings.

Communal kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cater for yourself and a cafe is available some nights if that is your preference. A full cafe/restaurant is about to be constructed.

Owners and staff are all so friendly and you are made to feel most welcome.

We spent a month savouring all that the Greenhoose, Iron Range and Portland Roads had to offer. From the Claudie Falls to Chilli Beach, Quintel beach and thr Gordon creeks it was amazing. Good food on offer at the local Cafe as well as fresh prawns and fish combined with a selection of fresh fruits from the local gardens. The rains held off long enough for us to complete walls around Gordon Creek, Tozers Gap, Claudie Falls as well as a long walk to the Claudie River mouth.

Myself and my girlfriend travelled here whilst heading up to the tip. We loved it so much we made a point of driving back on the way down south.

We stayed 5 nights in total and absolutely loved our time here, beautiful environment and fantastic value. I don’t think Jane, Luke, Stu or Lynn could have done anything more to make us feel more welcome during our stay, absolutely wonderful group of people.

We were due to arrive past midnight upon check-in and therefore made arrangements so we could access our room without disturbing anyone. So, when we finally arrived we were really surprised to see Luke greet us when it was so incredibly late at night.

The property is situated about a 10 minute drive outside Lockhart, and only about a 30-45 minute drive to Chilli Beach/Portland Roads, making it an ideal base for exploring local sites.

There are some lovely walks nearby, one which is situated at the back of the property. There’s stunning wildlife in the local area, and you really don’t need to venture far, there is a variety of different species right outside your room door. On the accommodation side, rooms are modern and most importantly very clean.

Lynn’s cooking was fantastic, my girlfriend who is vegetarian said it was the best food she ate all trip. However, if you prefer to cook your own food, there is a great communal kitchen available to all guests.

We spent just over two weeks on the cape, the Greenhoose was our favourite place to stay and we really look forward to visiting again one day!

Cape York, West Coast resident and repeat Greenhoose guest. Staff are always welcoming, accommodating and beautifully friendly. With the vast history of Lockhart River, Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park, Chilli Beach and Portland Roads, this area invites slow exploration and the Greenhoose is a clean and comfortable facility to base yourself. After a day full of adventure, Greenhoose is a relaxed oasis - A/c, shower, then chat and have a drink with other guests on the lawns or around the open fire.

After camping for a few nights in the Iron Range, visiting the Greenhoose was a highly refreshing experience. The staff were more than happy to have a chin-wag and help us out. Whilst staying there we found lots of interesting wildlife, some which I'd never seen before. I recommend staying at least two nights at the Greenhoose as we only were around for one of the nights and felt we needed longer to appreciate the lovely place.

We stayed I night in a double ensuite room. The room is very compact but has the essentials - comfortable double bed, extra pillows, good shower, small fridge. A covered verandah includes lounge chairs and a dining table and chairs. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Dinner was available - a set meal at 6.30 pm in a common outdoor dining area that facilitated mingling with other guests. We were fortunate to be there for lamb shank night - it was delicious. We used the outdoor dining area to prepare our own breakfast and lunch. It’s a lovely spot for a short stay.
