A bientôt ! Aude et Guillaume

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Probably the best refuge experience I have enjoyed in the Alps - and I always enjoy the huts! Fabulous welcome and hospitality, great food and plenty of it (important!), and really comfortable accommodation (including plenty of charge points!). And access to a wonderful ski tour area. The visit to Nevache only happened because of a need to change location due to the stormy weather forecast - and Nevache proved to be the ideal location for all weather conditions as we experienced powder and spring snow in the same week! Thank you for sharing your beautiful world!

This is a fabulous little spot, easily accessible from Nevache.
Once there you will be greeted by Claude and Bernadette who have lovingly restored the refuge and keep it absolutely ship shape. They take great pride in their food and they also offer a surprisingly good wine list (given that they are up in the mountains!)

We had crêpe complète, l'assiète végetarienne, panacota framboise and coffee. We enjoyed it very much. The meals were very delicious. The view from the terracce is wonderful. You can spend the night there too. You need 50-60 minutes from the parking - 326 m up for 1.5 km. About 3 km after Le Nevache there is a sign on the left side if the road: Refuge Buffère.

What a great time ! Aude and Guillaume were committed to ensure we have the best experience, very friendly and continuously adapting to our changing needs to initially enjoy a drink outside and then have lunch inside and go back outside for coffee ;-) The location and scenery is unique and we see that they put a lot of effort in every detail like growing vegetables near the terrace, providing weather forecasts in funny ways and recommending things adapted to the whole family. Will definitively come back to stay overnight ! Moun.

It is always a great pleasure to come to Refuge Buffère. For me it is the 2nd time after 5 years. Naddette and Claude are always here to warmy welcome you when coming from your hike.

The food cooked by Claude is awesome and refill you in order to be up and ready for the next day.

If you want to spend a few days in a place where you can encounter a warm welcome, great areas to practice Nordic ski: Refuge de Buffere.

The place is a great woody chalet, meals are exeptional.

Just outside the place, put your ski on and go for a magic Nordic ski trip.

And this place is just 1 hour from Nevache, which is 1h by car from Briancon.

Nadette and Claude the owners are turning this place into a family-like refuge. Their hospitality is highly appreciated. I don’t eat Ham so Nadette took care to find me alternative food options. The food itself was delicious and plentiful.
The refuge is clean and highly maintained. Hot water is available throughout the day. It was the best refuge we stayed in during our 6 days trek in the region. I highly recommend it for everyone.

I visited in April ski touring with my brother and a guide, it was such an excellent experience that I decided to return for the first and last night of a week's hiking in the area at the end of August.

The welcome couldn't be better, the food was excellent and plentiful, the beer was cold and crisp on a hot afternoon and the beds comfortable. I can't wait to go back!

Really hot trekking day when almost dying of thirst - came across this refuge and thank goodness - any food and drink would have been welcome at this stage - thank you for the hospitality and the nourishment after such a tough day

Short stay perfectly successful in a beautiful setting surrounded by larch, rhododendrons and marmots. Thanks to Aude, Guillaume and all their team for their welcome and advice. We appreciated the originality, cleanliness and friendliness of your refuge. To be repeated in its winter version.
