Hyatt Place Melbourne Essendon Fields is often recommended for its cleanliness and comfort, with guests frequently commending the spotless rooms and cozy beds, as well as the hotel's convenient shuttle service. While the location garners mixed reactions—being both praised for convenience and critiqued for its seclusion—some travelers find value through reasonable parking charges and discounts. The hotel's atmosphere is described as classy and trendy.
However, opinions on service vary, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting reports of delays. Concerns are occasionally raised about room noise and high prices.

Detailed Reviews
stayed 8 nights during recent business trip and booked Hyatt Place based on location, ammenties and overall value for money. Check-in process was prompt and was pleasently suprised to be allocated a quite room as I have stayed at hotels near airports previously and generally have a lot of background noise, however on this occassion the room was perfect. The rooms are exceptionaly well maintained, contemporarily furnished and whilst not the largest space, it was well laid out and didnt feel cramped. Things I really liked; good clothes storage both for hanging items and drawers, bathroom was exceptionally clean and had some nice touches like the automatic LED light strip under the mirrors. Towels were replaced daily & well stocked with ammenties & the shower water pressure/temperature was perfect.
The bed was very comfortable with choice of different pillow types.
Room temperature was easy to control with a simple digital panel.
Lighting was well thought out, with bedside controls & seperate desktop lamps & floor lamps for when working or sitting on the lounge.
The only slight improvement I would recommend is to have adjustable TV brackets to allow different viewing angle from the bed or the the lounge/seating area.
The room rate includes complimentary breakfast with a decent range of patisserie/bakery, cereals, hot & cold food, teas, coffees and juices.
The lobby bar/restaurant provides lunch/dinner until early evening & perhaps only downside was the options for food at later hours was limited to sandwiches & salads/snacks.
There is a gym on Level 1 that was equipped with both cardio & resistance equipment.
Overall this hotel was excellent, really enjoyed my stay for 8 nights.

With current covid situation and lockdown I was a bit scared. But after walking in all my fears were put to rest. Very caring and folllowing strict guidelines for physical distancing- to the extent that everything is put in your plate as you select and you walk to your room with the tray. Well maintained rooms and staff were ever ready to go an extra mile to make your trip comfortable.- be it changing a menu by taking out some ingredients to match your dietary needs, arranging a drop off at the airport or even saw them arranging a drop off for some passengers needing a covid test for international travel.

Recently using this as a stop over on our way to the great ocean rd. We rang ahead co firming it was not a covid hotel, and checked the website to read it would be temperature check for everyone on arrival. We arrived at 8pm. This was not the case. Far from disappointing!!
Checking in the front desk staff discovered we had just driven 7 hours and had a 6 year old child with us.
We got to our room, which we booked for 4 with a king and a pull out. Pull out was made up, but only 2 towels!! And only having sheets on the beds is not really appropriate in Melbourne, in winter!!
I went down to the front desk to get a tea (as there is no milk in the rooms)and asked for a chamomile and a black tea! I was given a lemon and honey...and a black tea... how hard is it to pick the correct tea bag!! At this point, 8.15pm, I asked for an extra towel and a rug!! As there was only 1 spare in the cupaord but two beds in the room!!
At 10pm (keep in mind we asked at 8.15pm, The hotel is not busy and the staff knew we had a young child and had travelled 7 hours) the phone rang, waking us all up!!! Asking if we still wanted the towel and rug.
We have stayed at this establishment before, as it is conveniently located, but we won't be staying again. Nor recommending it. We were supporting you during these trying times for all hotels and businesses, we don't expect perfect but we do expect these simple details to be correct.

I decided to stay overnight for a change of scenery and to treat myself to a hotel stay. I was not disappointed.
I was greeted on arrival by a friendly staff member who granted me a nice view of part of the airport.
The room was spacious and very comfortable. It was very clean but was showing some evidence of wear. My bed was really comfy, the bathroom adequate (despite the water pressure and hotness not to my liking) and the sofa very nice. J s l slept beautifully.
I had dinner in my room and have to say the Wagyu burger was one of the best i have ever had. So, thankyou kitchen staff.
A very special mention to the lengths the hotel went to, to ensure my safety during this covid period. There were hand saniters everywhere and i didn't mind picking up my meal from reception when it was ready. Well done .
Thankyou for a lovely and comfortable stay. I will be back.

Fantastic hotel close to the airport. The room were well appointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were celebrating our anniversary and new year here and they were very accommodating, they provide us with a room with an amazing view to be able to see much of the fireworks. The hotel is close to the airport and only 20mins from the CBD which is a fantastic location for a couples retreat. Would highly recommend this hotel

Great hotel. Close to the CBD and airport without it being too close. Staff are lovely and the buffet breakfast is great. Price of parking is reasonable so you can leave your car there and go out for a day trip using other transportation without incurring a large bill.

My wife and I stayed here with our daughter in the lead up to Christmas. We loved the hotel.
Large room, beautiful bathroom and the service was impeccable!
Location was close to Tullamarine Airport, Essendon DFO, and only 15 mins drive to Melbourne Zoo.
Breakfast each morning was free for members of Accor's loyalty program and was a good variety of hot and cold food.
Can't wait to stay here again!

The hotel is what you would expect from a Hyatt, a good size room with a kettle and a fridge as well as a television. The hotel is very clean and the receptionist was extremely helpful. Breakfast is good. It is taken at the foyer and it is self service but don’t let this put you off as there is hot food as well as fruit, different types of bread and hot drinks. Finally, the parking area is reasonable but don’t leave parking the car too late at night as you may not get a parking place.

I stayed in this hotel as an overnight driving stop while travelling interstate due the hotels location and easy access to the Hume HWY.
The King Mountain View room was spacious, clean and comfortable for 2 people.
You could tell upon check in this was a lower level Hyatt Hotel. The bar is located right next to reception and it gave a hostel vibe.
The highlight of our stay was McCracken restaurant which is located next door. The food and drinks were pleasant surprise.

Re your GF enquiry: The following advice was provided by the hotel:
GF food available. Scrambled eggs, Bacon, Sausages, Grilled tomatoes, Gluten free muffins(on Request), gluten free muesli, gluten free bread. In addition they also have fresh whole fruit, and cut fruits, yoghurt and salad. Notify Reception on arrival of your GF requirement and they will connect you with the chef to discuss your specific GF preferences.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a 24-hour service... so if, like me, you will be arriving in the middle of the night, unfortunately you would need to get other means of transportation to the hotel
