Detailed Reviews
We were exhausted when we arrived here at Driftaway but with prompt desk service we were under those delicious hot showers then cooked a scrummy meal in their beautiful kitchen with a view. This holiday park has only been open 6 weeks and it has everything you could want in a holiday park - huge kitchen and dining room, comprehensive laundry, games room for the kids inside and a playground outside. I think there were quiet spaces too. So new, so clean and very hospitable hosts. Our big motor home fit perfectly on one of the sites. Highly recommend this place

The "Rolls Royce" of camping grounds in New Zealand. After freedom camping for 5 days straight it was great to stay at a place with such modern facilities and forward thinking. Showers with constant pressure and temperature, a well equipped camp kitchen with electric cooktops and a heated dining area were standout features. couple this with outstanding views and a prime location and you have the makings of a very enjoyable stay. The staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Wifi is unlimited. Not all campgrounds in the area provide this and the price is more than competiive because of facilities such as this. Do yourself a favour and live it up whilst in Queenstown. Superb!

Immaculate, very attractive property with a wonderful location next to the airport. Very pleased with our stay. Kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and had a large number of sinks and stovetops. People staying here should be sure to bring their own dishes and utensils.

We enjoyed staying at this brand new campground for 3 nights. The site that we had was elevated and had a great view of Frankton arm and the surrounding mountains. The bathrooms were extremely clean and very nice to use. The laundry machines worked well, once we figured out how to select and pay for a dryer or washer. The plantings around the site were new and will soon make a nice appearance. The city bus was very close.

A good campsite with fabulous views over Lake Wakatipu. The facilities were lovely, new and in a good location. Probably the best ablutions block of any campsite I have been in NZ - it was nice to stay warm once you come out of the shower instead of freezing with a cold draft whistling through the place! Would definitely recommend.

We may have been spoiled for ever after having spent 4 nights in what must be the Hilton of campsites. It is brand new, well designed and attention paid to the smallest detail. The kitchen could feature in a cooking show, the lounge is spacious and comfortable, great outdoor areas as well all with gorgeous views over the lake. Every site has a picnic table, the bathrooms are warm, the showers hot, clean with great pressure and the staff are fantastic. The unlimited Wifi is free and the upgrades while we were there will make it super fast as well. Summer or winter, we’ll be back.

We stayed in Driftaway in a campervan for 4 nights. When it comes to holiday parks Driftaway is in a league of its own! Firstly The views over the lake were magnificent. The facilities were amazing- shower rooms were as good as any high standard gym- spotlessly clean, warm and had hair dryers and straighteners. The laundry facilities were also fantastic- plenty of washers and dryers and facilities to dry ski gear! They also had amazing hot tubs which overlooked the lake and residents are offered a really good rate. We really enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend it!

Absolutely beautiful location with all brand new amazing modern facilities. We especially loved the washing machines using eftpos rather than cash - this was so helpful for us while travelling. Overall we really loved our stay here, would 100% recommend!

This place has it all: all the amenities, all the views, all the location. It just couldn’t be better. (Well, ok, in about 10 years when the shrubs have grown a bit between campsites, maybe, lol).
Customer service was outstanding. The kitchen is supremely well-equipped and immaculate. Showers and restrooms clean and tidy, warm, and lots of free hot water! And the view of the lake and mountains: stunning.
Perhaps the best part is an underrated one: laundry that runs on credit cards, so no scrounging for $2 coins like at other campgrounds LOL. True, the interface was a bit wonky and didn’t work right away, but we got it going, and it was great.
Also; do try the hot tubs! It’s really, really relaxing to sit in your private tub and look out at the lake.
It’s also nice being in Frankton rather than Queenstown proper because it’s a little quieter. Well, maybe not so much with the airport located only about 2kms away! (We’re airplane nerds, so we loved that part) Plenty of places to walk.
Driftaway Queenstown was one of the top highlights of our South Island trip!

Excellent facilities, clean and new. Very friendly and helpful staff, great location and reasonable prices.
Close to the lake front with great views. The campervan sites are well layed out, even though the total area is not huge.
