Welcome to the Edenhall Country House and Restaurant. Our independently run hotel dates back to the mid 17th century, and offers excellent accommodation just 5 minutes from Penrith and the M6 (J40). The village of Edenhall is ideally located for exploring the Lake District and situated in the beautiful Eden Valley, nestling between the rugged Pennine hills and the spectacular Lakeland fells. With 20 en-suite rooms, some of which are pet friendly, we are larger than most B&Bs, but smaller and more intimate than many other Cumbrian hotels, making Edenhall Country House the ideal place for a short bed and breakfast break or a longer holiday. Set in over an acre of beautifully maintained gardens, Edenhall Country House is one of a number of Cumbrian hotels that makes a fabulous setting for civil weddings and wedding celebrations. The hotel is also available for functions including family parties and gatherings as well as conferences during the week. Our restaurant serves home cooked food using the best local produce. For more casual dining, bar meals are available along with a menu of light snacks throughout the day. The large open fire becomes a focal point on cooler evenings, whereas in warmer weather, you are free to enjoy the beer garden or relax in our large conservatory. Free internet access via wifi is available throughout the hotel.

Booked in due to our vehicle breaking down nearby. We looked at a number of hotels in the area and although a little more expensive than some we had a friendly and helpful response to the fact we might be arriving after midnight. The hotel is in a country location on the edge of a small village. The owners have carried out extensive updating to the main areas and rooms to a very high standard. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and the thing that really stood out with Edenhall was how amazingly clean it was. The room we stayed in was nicely updated even had USB points. There is plenty of parking and the dining area is bright and modern over looking nice grounds/ garden area. We were only able to stay one night but will be going back to explore the area and we will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it. The pictures do not do it justice it is much better than the pictures portray. Amazing little hotel.

Recently stayed for two nights. Arriving early evening on the Friday we receive a warm welcome and ate in the bar that evening. The food was lovely, huge and reasonably priced. The next morning after breakfast we headed out of the day. There is plenty to do in the local area and Edenhall was a good base. We again ate in the bar that evening.

The rooms are well sized, and perfectly good for a couple of nights. They could do with some attention, such as finishes - our blind was broken, window didn't open properly and we had to ask for a bulb as the one in the bathroom was broken, but these were minor niggles that didn't detract from a good night's sleep

Our annual visit en-route north found the Edenhall has maintained it’s quality of service and food even with Covid restrictions. Especially noteworthy is the kitchen, the pork belly was a delight and the fish & chips were excellent. I’m told the chips are some of the best you can get (by a chip lover). I was impressed that the hotel were declining bookings from areas known to be under Covid measures (some folks consider it a good idea to relocate from lockdown areas...)

A previous reviewer wrote they'd 'Defiantly visit again next time I come to this area.'. I'd defiantly avoid it.

We didn't book the hotel, it was booked for us... but wish we'd been told that it was more than dog friendly. There were several dogs running around in the garden frightening young children. And one couple had dogs constantly yapping away in their bedroom late evening and again at 0544hrs in the morning. Those wanting to exercise the fundamental purpose of a room - that is, sleep - should book elsewhere.

To be fair, the welcome was good but the food was distinctly average and the bedroom wasn't much better.

Of all the places we've stayed on this six day cycling tour, this is by far and away the worst.

We wanted to check out as soon as we arrived. Very tired decor, unfriendly receptionist who hadn’t got time for us at all. He gave us the wrong room. After lugging bags upstairs, we went back and asked for the twin room we had booked. The man kept us waiting about 15 minutes, while he ‘sorted’ it. In the end I had to sit on the stairs as there was nowhere else to sit! Finally shown to a room which did not look at all like the picture on the website, no chairs, mould round the bath and not a walk in shower as pictured. We ended up staying the night because we were too tired after a long journey to move. Regretted it! The beds were particularly old and uncomfortable, like lying on bones! The en-suite was so small, the loo was squeezed into such a tight space it was impossible to use it properly! See photo! Only one plus side, the starter in their empty restaurant, of deep fried Brie wedges was very nice, shame the flowers on the table were long dead! See photo. Could never recommend!

A lovely drive to a lovely welcome. Room 15 is large and well appointed with a comfortable king size bed and first class large ensuite facilities all spotlessly clean.
Only one thing I would have liked was brighter bedside lamps for reading,

Dinner and breakfast both excellent and a credit to the the staff who were ready to assist with every request.

We chose Edenhall at the last minute following a cancellation of our usual stopover, we were not disappointed, we received a lovely warm welcome on arrival.
our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. We needed to take our dog for a walk following a long drive and the lady on reception pointed us in the direction for a very pleasant riverside stroll.
The bar was welcoming and the meals were substantial and very tasty, I opted for the home made Curry and my wife had the Steak which was cooked exactly as requested.
We breakfasted in the Conservatory so we could have the Dog with us, Breakfast was excellent.
I feel we may have chanced upon a new favourite place for a stopover en route to and from Scotland, definitely recommended.

I stayed at Edenhall on Friday after a horrible journey up from London. A warm greeting awaited me and the chef had stayed to cook me food, even though it was gone 9pm - I really appreciated it. The food was delicious, the people were amazing; friendly and professional and the room was comfortable and very clean. It was great value for money, just off the M6. I will definitely stay there again

Top place. Room was very spacious, modern and clean. Kettle, coffee, tea and biscuits which were topped every day. Restaurant was great. Reasonably priced and food was excellent. Must have the fish and chips. Best I've ever had. Breakfast was brilliant too especially the poached eggs. Quality items and locally sourced. There's a continental breakfast included. The service from all staff, ie cleaners, bar, waiters etc... was great aswell. Couldn't fault anything. Paula, the owner was very friendly, helpful with a great sense of humour. She's lovely. A brilliant place to stay and is within reach of the lakes, mountains, keswick etc. The hotel is so peaceful with lovely gardens. Pet friendly. Would recommend 100 per cent. Thank you!!!
