Fantastic place and really one of kind experience staying in one of the boat bungalows. Beautiful grounds and a really comfortable laid-back feeling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided was really good and you could choose to take it to your room or sit at the reception area or porch. A few details could be improved - something to place your luggage on in the room and light at the bed for reading.

Upon arrival the staff were amazing super friendly and helpful. The facilities are all new and the view is breath taking. It’s a quite hide away perfect for any relaxing getaway for any people or person. The restaurant is 200m walk away and we can’t fault the food, so good we tried everything on the menu Atleast once….The octopus salad was our favourite!
If we had any negatives is that maybe there could be some hooks on the walls to hand bags, towels, hats or cloths. Also the wifi connection in the rooms is such low frequency you can’t watch Netflix.
Suggestion would be maybe a barbecue area somewhere around the beautiful pool and deck area. Would be nice to to have the option of being able to make your own food at some point… although we can’t fault the food at the restaurant it does become quite costly eating out lunch and dinner every night for a week.
Special shout out to Analyse who went above and beyond to help organise transport and breakfast and towels etc she did everything to ensure we were always taken care of.
We will happily return!

Bonza stay in paradise! From start to finish of our 4 night stay was the best little holiday we have ever had! Rod & Sofia and all the staff obviously love their jobs and treated us like royalty! From the welcome we received til our goodbyes we were thoroughly spoilt! The lovely aspect, the variety of breakfast overlooking the pool with views to die for! We stayed in the boat bungalow’s and it was exceptional. It was super clean & maintained, bed & pillows were very comfy. I especially loved the front deck with fantastic views of the gardens and bay. Also, we enjoyed star gazing at night. The Friday night $1 oysters at Northerlies were fresh and delicious! We also liked the courtesy bus which took us in and out of town a few times. It was hard to leave this little bit of paradise and we will back as soon as possible! Thanks to all the team at Freedom Shores 😊

Visitors beware! We had the misfortune of being booked into the rooms up by reception. There are 3 of them and all are adjoined by an interconnected door if required. This also means sounds from your neighbours travel through the doors as if nothing was there plus the walls were paper thin. Our neighbours liked to talk/ shout/ listen to music at 3 million decibels and by 22:40 we had enough and called put a duty manager for our noise complaint. He did attend, entered our room, acknowledging it was too loud and went to speak to the adjoining room. We told him at the time that we were not happy with how sound travels through the rooms and that we wanted to check out in the morning and cancel our 2nd and third night. This we did, particularly after further hours in the room with a rock hard mattress and listening to the neighbours , snore, flick light switches on /off.. yes the walls were that thin. I should also add there’s notices in the room that they are licensed venue therefore you were forbidden to consume any of your own alcohol in your room. Quite bizzare never seen that before. They are happy to provide 375ml wine bottles ( half size) for $33 though, that’s having a laugh . In the interest of fairness and balance to this review, the boat rooms I could imagine would have been a much different experience as all were detached rooms for what we could see. The grounds themselves are stunning along with the views and location. Unfortunately my wife and I had a very different experience and after a sleepless uncomfortable stay we did not want to put ourselves through 2 more days of that. We rang management the following morning explaining our position and was told in no uncertain terms that we would forfeit all monies paid as there was “ nothing wrong” with the room and it was state of origin on the tv .. again a bizzare reason. So we have lost over $1000. We consider this excessive and unfair . I acknowledge the short notice of us deciding not to stay however it was not our intent not to stay . We left for reason not for the lack of nothing better to do. Totally none understanding management who took zero ownership of our experience and no doubt they will rehire them whilst on paper we have paid for them… no conscience

Freedom Shores is a little slice of paradise just 5 minutes drive from the hustle and bustle of Airlie Beach and less than 1 minutes walk to the fantastic Northerlies Bar & Grill. The room (we stayed in Fairweather, one of the 3 suites located above the boat and beach house accommodations) was quiet and very clean with beautiful views overlooking the water and Whitsunday Islands. The continental breakfast just right, the coffee great, the staff super friendly and the landscaped grounds superb. We had a great 9 night stay and loved it so much have re-booked for another 9 nights in Sept. Can't wait.

Freedom Shores is a beautiful, serene and quiet place with fantastic views of the ocean and the nature around the resort is beautiful. At freedom shores my fiancé and I stayed in a boat bungalow for 6 nights. The boat bungalow is a clean and small room with a bathroom, a queen bed and a balcony that overlooks the water. Each morning we received a small continental breakfast with tea, coffee and an assortment of juices. On the last day of our stay our flight got cancelled so we needed to purchase an extra night at Freedom Shores. On our last night we were upgraded to a suite that was absultely beautiful with breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding nature. We highly recommend this place for a beautiful, relaxing stay. Thank you to the Freedom Shores team. They were all accomodating and helpful. Leanne and Brad

This place was absolutely magical. Literally from the moment we arrived we loved every bit of it. Absolutely stunning views. Beautiful southeasterly breeze whilst sitting either on the beautiful deck of our own amazing boat (cabin), up on the pool or on the gorgeous couches in the reception area. Every part of this place was lovely. The gardens are beautifully looked after. The cabins had the best views and were super clean. I loved all the little thoughts, umbrellas, bug spray, great mini bar selection. The breakfast was perfect, loved the variety and little daily surprises salmon crepe or berry pancakes. It is super close to the northerlies restaurant which we went to a few times but we were also able to get the free shuttle bus into Airlie which was super handy 15 minutes up the road. I have to say that every single staff member was beyond lovely, not forced or over the top but appeared genuinely happy and friendly. I didn’t catch his name but the property manager was just so hospitable and naturally engaging. He has to be one of the loveliest hosts I have met in my travels. I can not recommend this place more highly, perfect to get away from all the busy rigmarole and just chill.

I had the loveliest stay here. It was as close to a White Lotus resort as I’ve been. The resort is small so there aren’t hordes of people trying to go into the pool, which is good since there are only a handful of deck chairs. Free continental breakfast is pretty solid. The bean bags and heated pool are so relaxing! I stayed in one of the boat rooms and it was fun! A good size for one person but I think it would be a tight squeeze for two. There’s a small kitchenette and a little bench but otherwise no other in the room seating. There’s a table and chairs in the private deck but the mozzies / bugs are pretty pesky. I left with bites everywhere The property is nice, Northerlies is pretty yum. And you can see turtles in the bay where the mangrove trees are! I would definitely stay again!

My wife and I can not say enough about both the magnificent natural surrounds, the comfortable room, the view, the location, but also about the staff that anticipated and attended to our every need during our week-long holiday as if we were members of the family. Freedom Shores is so much more relaxing and enjoyable than a conventional hotel stay. The proximity to Airlie Beach and the regional attractions is ideal as is the short stroll to the delicious and enormously popular, Northerlies open-air restaurant featuring great food and cocktails. Am I in Figi? The Hawaiian islands? The morning breakfasts too, taken beside the pool were a perfect way to start each day. Thanks to the entire team, Rod, Annalise, Taylor and Allie at FS and to the amazing young people at Northerlies for looking after us so brilliantly. This is an amazing place - snap it up if you can.

We absolutely loved our stay. We stayed in one of the boats, which was super cute, very comfortable and an excellent use of space. The accommodation was very clean as well. Everyone we spoke to was extremely friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was fresh and delicious, and you can choose to eat it by the pool or back at your room. We loved the pool area as well. It’s handy having a restaurant on site as well… Great food at Northerlies. We will definitely stay here next time we visit this area. Thanks for an awesome stay!
