The Mangrove Lodge is, in short, paradise. It has a very relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere and it lacks the touristy feeling that you find elsewhere on the island. Everyone is so welcoming and genuinely friendly. Haji and Marina (the owners) are the perfect hosts and their sons (who are all absolutely brilliant) kept us entertained. Shelley, who is researching waste management...

If you want to get a way from it all, then this is the place to do it. From beach-front yoga to an incredible menu that marries Italian and Zanzibari cuisine. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and practical design. Nothing was a problem for the staff who were ALL very helpful ALL the time. If I had to...

My 5th trip to Mangrove, it's a home away from home. The gardens are special, a maze of hibiscous and bourgainvilliea arch over soft sandy pathways, tall mango trees and swaying palms give Mangrove a hideaway for bush babies and humming birds. Mangrove is an accessable location, making it ideal to nip into stone town for dinner and then comehome...

Wow! If you want a secluded quite romantic getaway... This is the place. It was a dream! You'd get consulted daily or however often you wanted on what you fancied eating. Anything from authentic Zanzibari food to Spanish, English, American or let them surprise you. Plenty of fresh exotics and usual fruits as well. We went with our two girls...

The Mangrove Lodge is a very pleasant hotel in a beautiful setting, giving access to a small estuary where the tides and the mangroves set the scene and fisherfolk, village children mix with tourists and visitors. The shady gardens (trees, flowers) also give access to a beautiful sunset beach, Nearby, at walking distance, are the picturesque 'ruins' of another lodge,...

Shelley welcomed us with a nice juice. Everything was handled with care and attention. The grounds are incredible, well kept, and a perfect getaway if you are looking for some romantic two-time. The rooms are spacious and have a beautiful cozy design. Thank you!

A avery price-worthy eco-lodge at the west coast of Zanzibar, not too far away (North) of Stone Town. Nice atmosphere is created by the Italian/Zanzibarian owner couple. I could not find a more comfortable and ideal place to explore Zanzibar than this one for 50US$ per night (!)

If you want to stay at a place which portrays the true Zanzibari spirit and that is respectful of both the social and natural environment, then this is the place for you. Mangrove Eco Lodge is everything we imagined; peaceful, beautiful with friendly staff and owners and an excellent restaurant on site (as well as ice cold beer and wine!)....

Although we visited outside the formal tourist season we were very well looked after. Haji, Marina and their staff provided us with a wonderful few days of relaxing. The bungalows are set in forest and there is easy access to both the mangroves and a sandy beach which is the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The road from the...
