I spent 3 nights at Ntshondwe Lodge in Ithala game reserve, we stayed in a 2 bed chalet self catering unit, the chalet was neat and clean and bigger than expected, a neat kitchen with lounge and TV and a covered veranda with braai, everything you need. The Lodge served a good breakfast as part of the booking so we...

We stayed with a group of friends in the 6-people luxury lodge for two nights. This lodge is very spacious and comes with a private pool and a large fully equipped kitchen. It has a large terrace with great views, only the pool requires a little maintenance (not a major issue). If you can afford the luxury lodge and it's...

I absolutely love iThala game reserve - it is one of my favourite South African reserves. Ntshondwe camp is a fantastic place to stay and is very well priced. Located on the top of the mountain in the reserve, the views are spectacular. There is a pool, a number of self-guided and guided walks and also a well priced restaurant...

Excellent place to relax and get away from the city. Good drives but the roads are in some disrepair - fun for 4x4ing! Pleasant waking trails. Game levels seemed a bit on the low side but that could be the drought already taking its toll. Decent picnic sites. Friendly staff.

Got the chance to spend a few days in South Africa and the opportunity to stay in the Ntshondewe Lodge while visiting the Ithala Game Reserve. Unique greeting when we arrived - as a large bull elephant blocked our way - and then backed us down the road for quite a while until a park ranger intervened! Seems they like...

We were camping in the Ithala game reserve, but used the lodge facilities for some meals in the restaurant, and for drinks at the bar. There is some good game viewing here, we saw loads of giraffe, elephants, kudus, zebra, warthog and one night, on our way back to our -unfenced- campsite, a big male leopard, yikes! The Doornkraal campsite...

We stayed here for three nights whilst in the Ithala Game Reserve. The lodge is the largest of the accommodation for rent and has three double bedrooms, all ensuite, a big kitchen, dining and sitting rooms and a huge veranda with a pool overlooking the reserve. The situation is fabulous. A cook can prepare your food or you do your...

We had a super 1 bedroom chalet at the perimeter of the reserve. It was really large with a well equipped kitchen and very comfortable sitting area and patio with braai. We only stayed for one night but would have loved to have stayed longer. We had dinner which was a superb buffet. Breakfast too was a really good buffet....

I have been using Ithala for five years both as a stop over between joburgh and Hluhluwe and as a place just to unwind. It is NOT a top flight big 5 place but there is plenty to see if you go slowly. The restaurant is a commercial catering set up and can be so so...the huts are always great and...

Ithala Game Reserve is a wonderful reserve to marvel at the nature. Don't go there to spot animals though. Although you go on safari with one of their jeeps, you don't leave the hardened paths, which makes great wilfdlife sightings really rare. The reserve is run by the state, which can be seen by the rooms and restaurant that don't...
