This campground is the closest landmark to the Cataloochee Ranger Station and the local Elk herd. Yes, that is correct I said Elk, as in the second largest member of the dear family (moose is biggest). If you want to observe some huge graceful animals this is the place. Their mating season is over so there is no more "bugling"...

My wife and I stayed here for one night but we wish we could've stayed longer. It is a nice campground with clean bathroom facilities...as long as you don't mind a few bugs. The backside is up against a creek that is nice for sleep at night and to sit next to during the day. The highlight is the Cataloochee...

We stayed in a tent at site 15. We loved it. We were 3 sites from the bathroom and 1 from a water spigot. The description said it was not on the water but there is a small stream right there. We faced our tent to it and our back to the campground road. This site is right near the...

Quiet & peaceful campground with a good size creek next to it. Camp host was friendly & bathroom was clean. Lots of cool historical things to see in the valley & a ton of wildlife everywhere (turkeys, elk, black bear, turtles, foxes, birds, & butterflies!) Safe & fun for families. Bring lots of firewood & bug spray!

I read a lot of reviews on the campground prior to my visit, most talked about the terrible road in and how beautiful the campground was. They were right about the campground it is an amazing place if you are trying to stay off the beaten path. As for the road in, it is narrow and winding, but as long...

A great campsite to visit with friends and family! We stayed right near the creek and we had a spacious campsite. The only downside is your neighbors are quite close. Beautiful hiking trails, we hiked the boogerman trail (about 7.5 miles). Be aware that bridges are out due to flooding last winter so you will be hiking through creeks, some...

Call me a camping curmudgeon, but I don't like Disneyland campgrounds, RV generators, and screaming children. I would rather trade amenities (even hot water) for a modicum of seclusion and the sounds of the river and the wind. Campsites here are spotless and the hosts (Roy and Janet) were attentive, helpful, and dear, making the rounds morning and evening. There...

Smaller National Park service campground with a clean bathroom. No problems here. Great neighbors who weren't too close. The host was helpful with trails and park information. He let us borrow his map to plan our hike.

This was a wonderful campground, located at the end of a very fun and long mountain road. It is a wonderful campground run by volunteer campground host. It does have restrooms, but alas no showers. There is nothing to purchase at this location it is basically just sites. You have to pack in everything you use. Gas, ice extra firewood....

First I would like to say that this was a nice, quiet and clean campground. The host (forgot her name) was very helpful. The sites are partially wooded so you have some privacy. The scenery driving to the campground is beautiful with a pulloff to take some pictures. Bring EVERYTHING with you BEFORE travelling on the road up because it...
