Booked a family meal and hadn't been before although a member of our party had and recommended it and glad he did. We had lunch and it was lovely and very substantial, I had the whitebait followed by a crab salad which were both delicious and my mum had macaroni cheese which she really enjoyed. The pub is very quaint...

We were looking for a pub for lunch and chanced upon The Bull Inn (car park was busy so we made the assumption that it would be good). The bar was busy but there was one table free and we were quickly provided with menus and our drinks order taken. I opted for the Ploughman's whilst my hubby had a...

Just one night in the Bull, West Tanfield convinced us that we would be returning. Had a fair sized, comfortable room which was spotless and which boasted a brilliant view if the gardens and ever changing river. The room had everything you could ask for including a trouser press! Dinner was first class and not overly expensive and the staff...

The Bull is a great place to eat at any time of year, cosy and olde world when it's cold outside but even better on a sunny day when you can eat in the garden that slopes right down to the river. The food is delicious, especially the pies and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for! Combined with...

Last minute booking meant I stayed in the single room which was a good size. Lovely old pub so the floorboards creek a bit but that was the only noise. Breakfast was excellent. Chose Bacon, Sausage and Egg. The plate was full and I was asked if I wanted a second egg. Always a good sign. Booked another trip

Stayed for two nights in this lovely little pub. Very friendly and efficient staff and owner who made you feel welcome from he minute you walked in the door. Great food and comfy bed in clean and tidy rooms. Hot water on tap when required. Good value and ideally located for our work in the area. Nothing seemed to much...

Lovely traditional pub with exceptional beer garden sloping down to the river Visited Sunday evening for a pre booked family meal food and service all excellent even though a few choices from the menu were sold out Only negative was that five of us were squashed onto a table in a corner that should have seated four!

We popped in here twice at lunch time while we were holidaying nearby. We received a very warm welcome both times with our dog. The food was very good with large portions. Our dog was also given treats by the bar staff, which was a nice gesture. Would definitely recommend.

Visited the pub on Saturday evening for dinner, busy but very impressive. Food was excellent, service great, ambience superb. The starters were excellent. The main courses were wide ranging and beautifully cooked. Going to book for dinner again tonight, hope I can get in!!! No bad points.
