Lovely food and very friendly and welcoming staff. We visited on New Years Eve and enjoyed the local singer. The pub is very charming and has a nice atmosphere. Would definitely go back if we ever visit the area in the future.

Stayed for just one night with a young excitable pup! We were welcomed by the staff and the pup was too! Room was warm and comfortable and very quiet considering the pub was very lively that night. Food was good and service excellent. Would definitely return. Excellent value for money.

I visit the beautiful village of West Tanfield two or three times a year and always drop in to The Bull at 12.30 for my lunch when I'm there. But this visit, even though it was the day after the Christmas holidays, was even better than usual. From the extensive lunch menu, I had a brilliant stew and superb crispy...

Picked this based on location only to find it was Yorkshire Pub of the Year 2016 and I was not disappointed. Checked in a couple of minutes before they closed for the afternoon but nothing was too much trouble. Room was warm and clean with an excellent bathroom and so quiet. Believe me this was perfect. Breakfast time was booked...

My wife and I visited this pub just to treat ourselves to a lunch out. - we live about 15 miles away. The welcome by the lady as we stepped in the door at 12.30 was cheerful and friendly. There were about ten other lunch customers already seated but there was still ample choice of empty tables. Our order was...

Was promised so much as pub of the year! Was served by disinterested staff with cold food which was bland and in the case of the fish and chips very poor! Was never checked on when eating and when clearing the plates the staff showed little interest in the fact that we were not impressed and just removed items from...

We had dinner over the road at The Bruce with was very good the oysters were particularly nice. We had the cheapest bedroom that there was and it was perfectly...
