Once again we stayed with Hanne and Leif at Gillbank and once again we had a super visit. Breakfasts are lovely, house is spotless and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Room 2 has a four poster. A very relaxing base for a holiday in Dumfries and Galloway.

Our room was downstairs in this amazing building and there was access to the car park from downstairs which was ideal. The proprietors Mr and Mrs Gronberg could not have made us feel more welcome. Everything was exceptionally clean and inviting. The decor was appealing and beds were super comfortable...bed linen was crisp and new. We enjoyed the lovely hot...

I stay in the area regularly visiting on business .there are an extensive choice of rural places along Nithsdale and the a76 but the only nice town is Thornhill . So a B&B is my choice when I stay at Thornhill so I can enjoy eating out on the town or a couple of ales in the quant pubs .I...

Hanne and Lief Gronberg run a wonderful hotel which occupies a modernised immaculate Victorian House in the busy town of Thornhill. They are gracious hosts who can not do enough to ensure your stay is comfortable in large well appointed en-suite bedrooms and public rooms. Bespoke delicious breakfasts are personally prepared and served by your hosts and should you also...

We stayed here for two nights in August. It's in the town itself where there are a few small shops and nice places to eat. Out and about there are a few things to see including Drumlanrig Castle, the Lowther Hills, the Striding Arches, Leadhills railway and Wanlockhead mining museum. The B and B itself is traditionally and sumptuously decorated....

Thornhill is not exactly the centre of the universe, so other than Drumlanrig Castle and Dumfires, there's not that much to do there. We stayed at the Gillbank for a night and hoped that it would live up to the five star AA rating proudly displayed at the front door. It is a nice house and kept in good order...

Gillbank House is bright and cheerful. We had the room with the four poster, good fun. Corner room, sunny and a decent breakfast. The family own the hotel/pub round the corner, where you an get decent food. E Worthwhile.

Uncomfortable night in rough Danish last-forever sheets. The like of which you could sand your floorboards. Breakfast consisted of a tablespoon of yoghurt sweetened with a teaspoon of honey. The bowl so bare, it looked ready for the washing up before I' d had the pleasure of a taste! Slowly followed by the 'Full' scottish breakfast, consisting of half tomatoe,...

We had stayed there for two night the owners were strange people. After we left the day after we were accused of stealing a towel and glasses. Rediculess why would anyone want to steal towels a glasses I am 100% certain the towels were there when we left. Then we were told we would be charged £10 for the towel...

Gillbank House is a delightful red-sandstone house, run by a Danish couple who have lived in Scotland for twenty years. It was a joy and a find. I should have guessed. It was built for the Jenner family whose famous department store Jenner's still graces Princess Street in Edinburgh. The rooms are spacious and light, the windows wonderfully large, some...
