We absolutely loved our one night stay at Roncolo 1888, and only wished we could have stayed longer. Everything about the hotel was perfect - the welcome, our room, the tasting menu dinner, the service and the location. The villa is beautiful. We enjoyed a Balsamic vinegar tasting. If you are planning to visit this area, you must stay here!

Property's Favourite Review
Our family of four enjoyed three rooms in the recently renovated villa. We loved the renovation as the historical charm was intact with luxurious modern finishes. The rooms were large and well appointed. There were complimentary refreshments in the refrigerator and upon arrival, a refreshing snack was available. Our bags were delivered to our room which was a feat with no elevator! The entire staff was friendly and helpful. We loved walking the grounds to the park, the pool was beautiful and we enjoyed the complimentary balsamic and wine tours. We relished the full service breakfast outside on the terrace, with our cappuccinos. The weather was hot so both the rose and Lambrusco was a perfect compliment to our evening dinners. We’ll worth the drive to this hidden gem.

I never would've found this place had it not been for our travel agent but I am so glad we did - this place is awesome! its brand new (they opened in 2020!) and looks stunning - from the grounds (it looks like tuscany) to the pool to the beautifully designed modern rooms - we absolutely loved everything! It's in the middle of nowhere so if you want to explore towns in the region it's a bit of a drive (Bologna is over an hour, Parma and Modena are about 45 min) but it's a great place to unwind and spend a few nights. They offer complimentary wine and balsamic vinegar tastings - they were great so definitely take advantage of those! Staff is lovely and the restaurant on property is great - we had dinner there 2 out of 3 nights we stayed at the hotel!

Currently staying here for our honeymoon. Alex from the restaurant is so good at what he does and we enjoyed our meal with him. Unfortunately all our experiences booked through the hotel had major logistical problems that the hotel did not take responsibility for or help us resolve. Spending one’s honeymoon having to deal with logistic headaches ourselves and not getting any support from the hotel was not a good way to spend a honeymoon. On our first night we were supposed to go to a Michelin Star restaurant; however the car booked through the hotel was over 20 minutes late so we did not make our reservation on time. The second day we booked a test drive at Ferrari. We arrived at Ferrari and everyone there was confused and had never heard of our tour company. Our driver could not speak English so could not help us. We learned AFTER we arrived that there was no test drive and no refund. Driving for two hours round trip and not doing the activity we wanted to do was a let down. When we called the hotel they blamed the tour company “Bologna Tour.” They told us we have to call the tour company and it’s the tour company fault. Why do we need to call the tour company when we did not book the tour company? Why did the concierge not call the tour company and make sure the tour was happening BEFORE we left? Lastly when we did call the tour company they blamed another company. No refund, no responsibility. So instead of the test drive we went on a tour with a bus full of people. The tour was us on a bus going around Ferrari. Only 20% of the bus ride was in English and we were not allowed out of the bus. They just said what each building was and did not add much addition information. We did not enjoy the tour.

We came back to Roncolo this spring when they opened for the season, and also this time we absolutely loved it! It's a hidden gem close to Parma, in a huge and beautiful winery. It's a perfect stopover for a few days - feels like Tuscany but less than 2 hours from Milan where we wanted to stay as well. Loved everything - the space, the interiors, the food experiences. Will be back.

This really is a hidden gem. Not only is the place itself worth a trip, but also travelling to Emilia was a real discovery. We fell in love with this region (food valley/motor valley anyone?) As a family we kept it busy with hikes, visiting local food producers and the motor valley, but would also have loved just spending the day at the pool. Recently renovated, a very stylish, yet unpretentious estate. Lovely staff with very personal touch. We will be back next summer!

It’s been a while since I have made a review, but in this case I have decided to because Roncolo is a magic place with a lovely and friendly staff. We were welcomed by the reception team (Sorry for not recalling their names) and they gave a great Introduction to the resort and facilities. Our luggage was also delivered to our room by the staff. Our room was located in the beautiful main building which recently (March 2019) was restored with great respect of the history. I have never seen such a beautiful restored building. From floors, interior and wall decorations - Everything was well thought through. Lovely corner room with a beautiful view to the wineyards and sunset. Wonderful bed and great bathroom. Pool Area was great (5 min walk from the main building) had staff on the place who supported with fresh towels and snack/beverages to Purchase. Pool Team (The Tattooed Guy) does an amazing and are quick to support with the various requests. Kudos here ;-) We also joined a FOC Wine tasting with an introduction to the winery and history including local cold cuts. Again a great experience made by the lovely staff. We had the pleasure to eat at “La Limonaia” - Wonderful evening, lovely food, Amazing view and thanks to Fabio for beeing a great host to our table ;-) We had to leave Roncolo early, and again showed the Roncolo team their support and prepared a lovely breakfast bag/coffee we could bring on our long ride to next destination. Roncolo is a lovely place, in a lovely region for “foodies” but most important Roncolo has a team which makes a difference. Kudos again… Only thing I would highlight and which should be changed is that this resort deserves and should be a minimum +12 age. Mainly because of the pool area…

So glad to have found this gem of a winery/resort/restaurant in Italy’s ‘Food Valley.’ This is a beautiful home base for exploration of the region’s food and drink bounty. And, you need go no further out your guest room door for the best of Lambrusco and gourmet dining at the hotel’s on site, destination restaurant La Limonaia. Our room is elegant, chic, and exceedingly comfortable. Highly recommend this ‘off the beaten path’ place. It is special. Oh, and breakfast is sublime.

When you arrive at Roncolo 1888, the first thing you see is the beautiful drive up to the hill. We stayed there for a week and had a great stay! Especially the staff (at the reception, pool and breakfast) are so nice and helpful! Our stay included a vinegar and wine tasting, which was great. Also we enjoyed the public events held at Venturini Baldini (the winemakery linked to the hotel) with wine, pizza and foodtrucks. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice (freshly mixed juices, all kinds of egg dishes, cakes etc.) and great coffee. Roncolo 1888 is the perfect combination of luxury and nature. Because it is so spacious it is a very peaceful environment. The only downside was that - due to the Coronavirus - the restaurant was not finished yet, so we had to go out for lunch/diner or make something ourselves.
