We stayed at The White Hart after a visit to the nearby Bombay Saphire distillery. Our initial impressions were 'shabby' quickly followed by 'I hope we're not put in the annex rooms.' We had a drink in the pub first which was ok but typical Saturday lunchtime 'pints watching football on the telly and playing fruit machines' type of place....

Went in for a coffee and stayed for lunch. Nice food. Freshly cooked and nice portion. Lovely service from the two ladies who never stop running. Very thoughtful with the family and children at the next table. Wifi working which is great as 4g lacking all over whitchurch.

Great location for Bombay Sapphire Distillery visit. Every member of staff we dealt with from pre visit telephone enquiry about bus services to checking out were excellent, couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely old building, very good room, and excellent breakfast.

We were given an outside room on a busy night for the pub. It's not terrible but I think you have to accept that you'll not be particularly comfortable and £80 is too expensive. The radiator was on (the room was warm) but wasn't adjustable and is quite close to the bed. One of us was toasted on one side,...

IMHO a hotel needs to offer two things to qualify as a hotel - a space where you can get cleaned up and get a decent night's sleep. The White Hart failed on both counts. I arrived late in the evening so I was looking forward to a bath and bed - no such luck. I had got undressed and...

We stayed there for a night, arrived very late in the afternoon in search for a room, and the landlady was just lovely. Food served in the evening is ranged very fair (8 to 10 pounds) and delicious. Breakfast ist simple (cornflakes, coffee, tee) but included, and the kind staff is always ready to fullfill your wishes. Rooms are very...

Stayed on way to family on Thursday 15 Dec. we were given room 14. Not in the main hotel, across the yard, up some metal steps and along an outdoor landing. Looked like something from Butlins. Room very small. Double glazing unit over door and window which are very dated. Dressing table top stained to death. If taller than 5...

From the moment we checked we felt welcomed and valued. The room was spacious clean and comfortable. Not having a large appetite I had eggs royale as a main course. It was As good as any I have had in 4star hotels and better than most. However where expectations were really exceeded was as follows. When we checked in we...

Met a couple of girlfriends here for any early supper after work. The staff are very friendly and welcoming even though they were busy. Food is great pub grub - tasty, value for money and we didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive. Family friendly too. Worth a visit.

This place is an excellent choice it is friendly clean with adequate facilities and comfortable beds. Good food and real ale. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. My daughter left her scarf in a restuarant in a different street. and one of the staff was kind enough to go out in her own time to collect it and...
