Property's Favourite Review
The Retreat was better than we expected. We stayed with our pooch in a pet friendly bungalow which was extremely comfortable and had everything we could wish for including a well fenced area for our pup to play. The bungalow is spacious and well-provisioned. The staff are brilliant and as our booking was at short notice, they did everything to meet our needs. They are friendly without being intrusive and all seem to go that extra 10% to ensure guests are happy. Thank you, we'll be back.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Retreat! Our bungalow (Cottage 2) was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Even the interior of the cupboards were spotless! Everything you could need was provided even down to BBQ requirements should you wish to have a BBQ in the oudoor area nearby. The peace and quiet was another feature. The cottages were far enough apart that you had complete privacy. The Retreat is handy to all the tourist spots around Port Stephens and the Salamander Bay Shopping Centre is only about 10 minutes away. There is a local shopping centre with IGA Supermarket about 3 minutes drive away. We were very impressed with the communication from the Retreat from the time we made our booking to a friendly phonecall on the day of arrival to determine our time of arrival and a follow up email after our departure expressing their hope that we had enjoyed our stay. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place for a couple of nights or even a week for couples or families.

What a lovely surprise this place is. We booked early in the day over the phone and Julie fixed a price and cottage to our budget. After a long drive arrival and checkin so easy and friendly. So nice to be taken to our cottage and shown through to see if it was suitable. Cold day and Julie had turned the heater on earlier so the room was nice and warm. Spacious for two people. Everything very clean and well presented. Comfortable beds. Kitchen etc well stocked with utensils. Even supply of hand wash in rooms. Staff so friendly and helpful. Cosy warm comfortable room. Very quiet as it is well back from road.

We stayed in The Lodge with our children and grandchildren, perfect for our large family. The amenities were great... the pool, games room and fire pit. We visited the sand dunes,(accessed from the property) which were lots of fun for all the family. The staff were very helpful and informative to make our stay more enjoyable. The BBQ area was fabulous, clean and under cover. Beautiful bush land setting we saw a kangaroo and lots of birds. The Lodge was clean and tidy.
