Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Super delicious food! Since we left very early in the mornings they prepared sandwiches for us (in addition to the breakfast). Very comfortable and nicely decorated tents with private veranda.

Probably the best place in Waynad to stay in luxury tents. We were overwhelmed by the hospitality. The restaurant has a great ambiance well they even served amazing food . In all would like to visit again and again.

All of us were traveling for the first time to Grassroots. 15 of us were having a reunion after 3 years. Booked by friend based on her experience at Red Earth. We were in for a Surprise. Beautiful view overlooking the tea gardens. Well maintained tents and hygiene at its best. Situated in between a coffee estate it's a beautiful...

We stayed @ Grassroots during Christmas 2016.Its a nice cozy place, far from the city. The property itself is pretty basic, not many amenities but has its own rustic charm. The tents are maintained very well and are quite comfortable. Ideal to have a relaxed holiday, just lazing around! The staff and the manager, Prajwal are very friendly and helpful....

I visited grassroots with my wife during Christmas. Being there is like feeling amidst nature. Mr. Prajwal the manager in-charge was an excellent host, very patient and ready to help us with very balanced recommendations on what we should do to enjoy Wayanad in the true sense. Since it's only 5 tents that they have you will get a personalized...

We wanted a place for kids, when we called we asked and told the lady on the phone and we're told " get your own games" so we did. When we reach there first we see a terrible approach to park our car and hardly any space plus none to help. We can understand as the Parkway is steep and...

We will remember this stop over of two days for its intimate ambient setting and wonderful hospitality. Our time here was filled with exciting activity. A walk through a tea plantation led us to a river where we had our first bamboo raft experience. The next morning we hiked up to ancient caves, followed by a delicious lunch. In the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Grassroots is at the foothills of the Vythiri ranges with the majestic Chembra peak to the left and the Banasura/Kuruchermala to the right. The property straddles a tea estate and has a swift flowing river with a Pannia (a tribe found in Kerala & Tamil Nadu) colony at the edge of the river. Set on a three acre slope of coffee, areca nut and pepper, Grassroots overlooks the tea plantations planted during the colonial era. A quaint stream below forms a general area of activity for the scattered population of tribals and other residents. The Banasura range of mountains beyond completes the picture, making it truly magical. Accommodation is in Luxury Swiss tents, spacious and plush with every amenity that the discerning traveler would want. ... more   less
