My wife and I were in the Collingwood area to watch our daughter run in the OFSAA Cross Country Championships. Realizing we could not get accommodations close to our daughter and team, we thought best to stay away (far away!) and we found the perfect hosts in Livia and Trevor at Nottawasaga Hideaway. We had a long trip after our respective work days but Livia was welcoming with our very late check-in. She offered us a very nice, cozy, sitting area to unwind before returning to our nicely appointed room. In the morning, breakfast and conversation were excellent. Before we knew it, it was time to leave. This was a short stay for us but we hope to return again. Thank you.

Our summer stay with Livia and Trevor was just like being at home with friends. They were friendly, interesting and interested. their hospitality was sincere and un-intrusive. Livia even packed a breakfast for us on our very early departure.

Cycling in the area is superb - we used The Hideway as a base. Livia helped to organise bikes for us from Paul.

We've stayed twice at this bed & breakfast. Both times in the winter. Great accommodation, great stories, great setting, great breakfast. The area also has a lot to offer, cross-country skiing at Highlands Nordic, the Scandinav spa, and dinner at Haisai (reservations required)

This place was very misleading in our eyes, therefore we had a terrible experience. The place itself is nice, but when asked to use property for hiking we were turned down and redirected elsewhere, even though they have 26 acres!...wouldn't allow us to use wifi to connect back home with family. Everything for breakfast was cooked in coconut oil and was never stated before hand or asked, it was not something I enjoyed along with an eggs filled with peppers, mushrooms..something else I don't like and wasn't mentioned. Trevor only made an appearance for 5 minutes and we never saw him again. there was no radio or tv in room, it was way too quiet, we felt like we were walking on eggshells. Livia made it clear in several conversations that she was not running a hotel, so at 11am we must leave and be gone for the day.
Honestly we felt like we had a curfew and had to sneak in at 10:30pm....this place wont make our list on our next trip.

Response from Livia J, Owner at Nottawasaga Hideaway Bed & Breakfast
Responded 18 Jan 2015
I am the owner of this B&B. It is unfortunate these guests felt this way and were not upfront with me before they left. Suggestions and constructive criticism are always welcome. My goal is to provide a pleasing and memorable experience for all our guests. We had experienced two weeks of rain and very warm temps on top of 40 cm of snow. Our guests’ safety comes first and due to the muddy and unstable snowy/icy conditions on our property, I directed them to nearby higher elevations for safer and better snow conditions. We do have Wi-Fi and it was available to them for checking email. We have a rural low data plan and inefficient high speed, all our guests are requested not to stream or download movies. These guests never asked for the password. We have a TV exclusively for guests in our guests' lounge. Our standard booking confirmation email asks guests to: “Please take the time to advise us if there are any food allergies, restrictions, or dislikes that we should be aware of, so we may plan your breakfast accordingly.” These guests did not reply to this request. It is not mandatory for hosts to be constantly present, entertaining guests. Some owners also work off site. Not all B&Bs have TVs in rooms, particularly those offering a quiet getaway setting as is ours. B&Bs are people’s homes which have taken them many years of hard work and much money to create, it is sad these guests felt like they were “walking on egg shells”. Our B&B does not have a curfew. Guests have access 24 hours. Our only time restriction is for using our outdoor hot tub, which can be used until 10 PM, so as to not disturb other guests who may be sleeping. We have never ever told anyone to be gone by 11 AM. Our check-out time as stated in our confirmation email is: “11 AM-ish”, and over the years some have stayed past noon. These guests had clearly made up their minds shortly after arrival not to stay for their second night, since it was when they returned from dinner and claimed they had received a call from a family member that they informed me they would have to leave in the morning. They had not even spent the night let alone have their breakfast. I didn’t ask questions but felt it was an emergency or sorts and so offered to refund their second night without a second thought, even though this is not within our policies. I have yet to receive a thank you for that gesture and I have since found out they returned to their previous nights’ B&B which they enjoyed very much. Perhaps it was this couple’s first time staying at B&Bs. They seemed somewhat overwhelmed as I showed them around. Maybe they just didn’t like me, which is fine. And no, a B&B is not a hotel, which is perhaps where this couple is better suited for; a ‘hotel’ room with a TV, unlimited Wi-Fi high speed internet, and where they can break as many eggshells as they wish. Respectfully, thank you for reading all the way through.

Livia and Trevor are amazing hosts and have thought of everything for their guests. The cabin is in a nice secluded spot with an open space but still surrounded by forest. This makes for a beautiful view of the sky and tree tops at night with plenty of moonlight. The cabin was very clean and welcoming. It looked and felt very comfortable. We did not want to leave!

We had a delicious and filling breakfast with lots of variety and got many tips and suggestions from Livia and Trevor. We certainly enjoyed their company and appreciate their obvious commitment to providing a wonderful experience. Looking forward to visiting again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Sage room on our trip to Collingwood. We are not typically B&B people, but I think this experience converted us. As first time visitors to the area we did not have any knowledge about things to do and places to visit. Livia took the time to forward us pamphlets and ideas days before we actually showed up at Collingwood. When we got there we were welcomed by Livia and Trevor and the furriest cat we've ever seen, Fushki. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and we appreciated the flexibility we were offered regarding when and where we could take our meal.

Additionally, the couple helped us plan our day and thanks to them we were able to have a really great time on the trip. I will be sure to visit again when I’m in the area but next time I’ll probably stay in their picturesque log cabin. I highly recommend Nottawasaga Hideaway B&B!

My wife and I visited this wonderful area while on vacation, but Nottawasaga Hideaway B&B turned out to be our trip highlight. I did not want to leave this quiet and beautiful oasis. The property trails were surprisingly remote and beautiful, and the flowers around the grounds were spectacular. Although we stayed in the Sage room, the rustic cabin looked like something out of a magazine. Liva and Trevor made it feel like we were visiting old friends. We just loved our time with this wonderful couple. Inside of the house, including the rooms, are gorgeous. There was no issue with the shared bathroom. Breakfast was ample and delicious. Fine art, stunning features and interesting antiques made the experience special. But again, Livia and Trevor were the best feature. I recommend this B&B to anyone who is visiting the area. We both want to go back there!

This was our second visit at Livia and Trevor's beautiful B&B and it will most definitely not be the last! We traveled with our parents this time around and Livia went above and beyond to ensure we were all comfortable and had a good time. She set us up with a bonfire in the backyard at our request and even checked on us while we were out there to make sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was fabulous and she served 2 different kinds as my mum in law is a vegetarian!
It's a beautiful home with a lot of character, and even an open hot tub in the back that me and my husband enjoyed the first time we stayed here.
All in all, it's a beautiful bed and breakfast, with very kind hosts and we would love to go back!

We had a wonderful experience staying with Livia, Trevor and their pets. We felt welcomed and we were also given our privacy. We had complimentary wifi. The breakfast was delicious (thanks, Livia!) and we got to see some lovely birds, which we never get to see living in the city.

Clean, quiet retreat in a beautiful forest setting. Delicious breakfast which accommodated our vegan and vegetarian diet. Excellent quality bed, and a very eclectic and interesting atmosphere. Interesting hosts who were responsive and available if we needed anything. Highly recommended! This was our 2nd time coming.

BrendaRoc asked a question May 2016
Newmarket, Canada
Hi, is your B&B pet friendly?
Answer from Livia J
Collingwood
Hello, As we have several of our own pets, who live in designated areas of our home, this way we are able to offer a pet allergen-free environment to our B&B guests. As a result, we are not able to accommodate guests' pets. There are several excellent boarding facilities nearby. Please email me and we can discuss. We are animal lovers and cherish the wildlife that thrives on our twenty two acres.

"The sage is room on the south side of the house is lovely it has a queen size bed and a small dressing room and was very comfortable. The mustard room is lovely but a lot smaller For the outdoors enthusiast the secluded cabin is beautiful, we didn't stay in it as we wanted indoor facilities but if you are looking for a step us from the outdoor camping experience this would be perfect. The cabin doesn't have running water or indoor plumbing but it is in a nice clearing with facilities close by and has a really nice country decor."
