Detailed Reviews
Eight consecutive years of camping with a big group of between 14 and 18 keen campers ( and semi-campers) has become a wonderful tradition. The magic is the location ( beach), the extras ( fires & pets allowed) and of course the fabulous company of friends. We make the most of the area and are looked after each year with our site requests.

Rude , confrotational , abusive owner / manager . We drove into this messy rundown hovel turned around to leave and happy to lose our deposit and found the manager (Charlie) blocking our exit with his car . Please be warned this man should not be allowed to run any caravan park . We booked into the recreation caravan park in Appollo bay,and talking to the locals it turns out that the owner has a reputation for being rude and offensive.

Where do I start... if you want a relaxed pace and family environment, look no further than Skenes. You won’t get any closer to the beach than here. This is true camping in Australia without the flash big4 style parks around these says. Even the dogs in the park are chilled out and all get along. 10 metres from the beach, hot showers, washing facilities (small cost $2-3), and camp kitchen with full equipment to use free of charge. No drunken idiots late at night like some parks, and the manager Charlie is very approachable and accomodating. This bloke is literally available 24/7 for any issues that arise in the park. I hope this place never changes, and disregard the wingers that complain and give bad reviews. I’ve got teenage daughters and Charlie and his staff are amazing with them. Don’t forget they have boogie boards and surfboards to rent too. Hidden gem on the coast.

Marion and Rob could not have been more accommodating. They went out of their to assist us and were always friendly and happy. It was bushfire weekend and they alleviated all stress by texting guests and updating on the situation as necessary which showed us they cared. Pet friendly. Facilities were always clean but as clean as can be when inconsiderate people bought half the beach into the facilities with them. Even saw one family with BBQ coales in an open fire during a fire ban. Rob was so polite but people just did not get it that voals spread embers and it was s total fire ban. Good one RobI would have throttled them.

Great access to the beach. New, very clean facilities. Friendly management. Well equipped kitchen, free BBQ. Sheltered site. The sites were small but adequate and since we were there early in the week, the park was not crowded. Suited us as older travellers.

I have travelled the ocean road for 40 years and been staying at Skenes Creek the past 7 years and for the past 4 years the owner Charlie has been rude disorganized bombastic and antagonistic. What should be a lovely place he has let it become run down and seems to make your experience miserable or problematic. I will not return due to consistent harassment. There are better run places very nearby with equal and better facilities and certainly a better manager the Basil AKA Charlie. Please read ALL the reviews Re his character

Great location, very clean facilities. Friendly staff. We went just after Xmas and it was very busy but the park was managed and maintained well. Daily updates if there were activities happening. Lovely beach if you wanted to just hang around the campsite.

I love this little hidden gem. It has brand new facilities. It’s situated literally a stone throw away to the beach. Great place, clean, quiet, the sites are well spaced out, magnificent place for surfing and perfect for off the rock fishing. The management were excellent, friendly and professional.

Although the beach at skenes creek is as lovely as anywhere else along the great ocean road, I cannot express strongly enough how bad my experience here was. I was a female traveller, camping alone and I felt nervous from the time I arrived until the time I left. Plenty of things to complain about including dog poop everywhere, dirty facilities, and poorly organised sites (hard to read what number). I had paid for a powered site but the power was turned off around 7pm (it was dark) and then someone tried to open the doors of the van...luckily I had them all locked but I was very scared. The power did come back on after about ten minutes. The owner, Charlie, is very touchy feeling, wanting hugs from me (a complete stranger) as soon as I arrived. He also insisted I come up to the kiosk at night as he needed to see me about the site but when I got there he was clearly wanting to socialise instead. As I was away for some much needed time to myself, I found the whole experience most unsettling and not relaxing at all. I don't think sleazy is too strong a word! I left first thing the following morning and would not recommend this park to my worst enemy.
