My Dad and I came to Cocoon over the New Year and although our trip did not get off to the best start with my Mum being unable to join us at the last minute, the hotel staff made sure that we had a trip to remember. Whilst there are activities to do for couples who visit Cocoon (spa treatments, romantic dinners etc.), there are also a variety of water sports (jet skiing, wind surfing etc.) on offer making Cocoon a perfect destination for both families and couples. My Dad and I did a few dives with the in-resort team and the instructors could not have been helpful. Ansaar, Maaiz and Feli in particular made our dive experience seamless and thoroughly enjoyable. The food was also spectacular, and as a vegetarian, the kitchen staff always ensured there was something for me to eat. Special mention to Kadek, Yumi, Haydie, and Rio on the food and drink team who were always attentive and paid special attention to our favourite beverages and tables to eat. A highlight trip for us was the dolphin and sunset cruise which was just spectacular - a must-do if you visit Cocoon!! Our trip was truly memorable because of Alyona, the Executive Entertainer, whose energy and kindness was simply infectious. She always made sure we were enjoying themselves in the evening and made a concerted effort to engage with all the guests making everyone feel welcome. The staff at Cocoon really made our stay unforgettable.

Hotel's Favourite
Having just returned from 10 days in Cocoon I have to say it was an absolutely fabulous holiday. My husband and I travelled to the island mid-March with our daughter and her partner and we all had a superb time. Everything about the island is just first class and what made this trip even more special is that on day 2 we were upgraded to a water villa – we were all stunned. I have no idea why we got the upgrade but were really grateful to Ram and his team for the opportunity – simply wonderful. Other names I wanted to mention who gave exception service were Afzal and Rohita in the Restaurant. Also from the bars there was Hrilanka, Ezra and Elvin – each one of these guys were just so attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. We also had a Private Sunset Cruise and the 4 of us enjoyed a drink whilst we watched the sun go down – and Ali who was our host was just a joy to spend time with. And finally a special mention to our room guy – Amir – he (like all of the staff) was just so warm and friendly, attentive and caring. The whole experience surpassed our expectations and I have no doubt we will be back. And finally a huge heartfelt thank you to Ram and his whole team – and everyone involved in making this resort and our holiday so special we appreciate all your efforts.

I will divide this review into good and bad, please read the bad as it is important if you want to choose the right hotel: The island is paradise, we have been to 3 different islands in the past trips to Maldives and this is the best one so far. Sand is amazing, water is amazingly blue. We loved the food, everything was fresh and delicious. The snorkeling trips were very nice. Special thanks to Fernando from Kurumba Bar, who made our mornings and sunsets very pleasant, he is very kind and attentive. Our fave spot was this bar because of him. Manta restaurant was very good, only thing I would say is the crispy coconut shrimps are way too expensive for what they are: 3 shrimps 30$??? Not even tasty. The rest of the food (tartar, lobster and three floor cheesecake) was good. Now the bad points: We had already been to the maldives and wanted to go back MAINLY because of the overwater villa. We arrived at the hotel and were taken to a Beach Villa, but we paid for a Lagoon Villa (not a promotion, we specifically paid for every one of the 6 nights in a Lagoon Villa) we went back to the reception and they did NOT believe us. We were told all Lagoon Villas were busy and that we would have priority for an upgrade if there were any cancellations. It was actually an error of the hotel with the reservation. They did nothing to fix it. Thats it. We spent the most horrible 3 first nights waiting for them to contact us, going to reception every morning and evening with no response. Our travel agency contacted them every day but reception did not solve anything until I talked to a Manager or Director that I saw walking around the hotel. Then we got the upgrade. Staff in reception were not very helpful nor nice to us. They did not offer any compensation for the first 3 nights that we spent in the Beach Villa. Our agency had to request a late checkout, but still this does not compensate the bad time and horrible feelings of the first 3 nights and days. No free dinner? No xxl all Inclusive at least the last 3 days? Nothing? No refund for the first 3 nights difference of expense ??? We are VERY disappointed. Be careful with your bookings people, once you arrive there you are on your own. And no compensations or anything. If it had been my honeymoon I would have not stood up from reception until it had been solved, I would have slept there. But then again, I would have wasted my time in reception. We wont stop telling this story in all review sites and to all people that go to the Maldives. Room beach villa: 154 Overwater lagoon villa: 315

The good - Lovely staff and amazing food but after 8 days felt like a canteen. The bad - Very un-organised. No where to escape the live music in the evening. If you're XXL you have to tell them as they give you different menus. As soon as the room service knew that we were they took items from our fridge in our room. Lost a day due to luggage being in Male, Had to vacate our room 8 hours before our flight and sit in Male for 6 hours, was given the excuse that the sea plane was only coming once that day even though we had been given a time on booking the holiday. If you want a party island in The Maldives then this island is for you but not the lovely experience that we had had on other islands. Cocoon island is not vert environmentally friendly either. They have a responsibility, the other islands I have visited have far more strict rules for visitors, on my daily walks around the island I was constantly picking up cig ends, rubbish and plastic containers from breakfast, also if you're not Italian don't expect any mangers to speak to you, it should say on their website that it's owned by a Italian. Spent £250 to go to a desert island only to be dropped off to rubbish and other people on the island. My new year honeymoon I felt was ruined by my trip, I would never go back, I'm giving it a 3 star for the food and staff.

Perfect Resort for family. Perfect view with sea activities included. Special thanks for Mr Nattu for professionals skills and care about customers. Friendly staff, all the time ready to help you, special thanks for Mr Adda. Very clean room, cleaning twice per day. Food nice and various, staff in the restaurant near you ready to help you. Perfect experience for jet sky, we see turtles and manta rays together with Mr Iru, nice and clear instructions for safe driving. Extra activities for dolphins and snorckeling, special thanks for Mr Nizey for informations and helo. Loaby loaby bar just perfect for cold drinks and relax, thanks for Mr Ghanshyam and Mrs Hayde.
