Furaveri Island was my husbands and I first holiday to the Maldives for over 2 years (due to Covid) and would be our 11th visit to the Maldives overall so our expectations are high. Before arrival I emailed the resort requesting a beach villa that sits on part of the island with a wider beach and they obliged, allocating us villa 138. At first, we were disappointed to find that our beach villa did not have a day bed on the walk out deck, but two chairs and a table instead. I'm not sure why they don’t all have a day bed. However, our room was clean, bright, with a lovely outdoor bathroom. Had we had a day bed we wouldn’t have spent much time on it anyway. The walk out deck is set back from the beach, amongst vegetation and is a popular hangout for the mosquitoes. We heard the resort fogging but never actually saw the smoke, at other resorts we see the smoke. Perhaps they need to fog more as it didn’t seem to help much with the mosquitoes. If you are on all inclusive plus you have a mini bar with all the soft drinks included and also 2 x beer, 4 spirits and water, this is replenished daily by your room attendant. A 75ml bottle of White, Rose, Red and Sparkling wine is also included daily but you have to ring a separate number for these. However, this is not a problem, I’d call the number with my order and within 15 mins a happy guy called Wilson would appear with our wine. Brilliant. Our room attendant Muhammed also deserves a mention, hardworking, friendly, always asked if there was anything else, we wanted. The resort has a house reef but only one side is accessible. There are just two channels to access the reef and on this side of the island it was very windy. Great for comfortable sunbathing but not for snorkelling as the wind made the sea rather choppy at times. The island has just one buffet restaurant which, now more tourists are back is too small for the number of guests it serves. It was built at a time when the island had less rooms and is no longer fit for purpose. The staff work flat out. It was worse at evening meal when we’d often turn up at our table and sometimes wait that long for our wine to come that we’d nearly eaten our food. The restaurant also allows guests to order cocktails which the waiter/waitress has to go across to the main bar and wait to be made. Whilst they are away dirty plates are piling up and other guests are left waiting too long for someone to take their drinks order. Perhaps only allow guests to have wine, beer and soft drinks with their meals and not cocktails which can be poured from a bar area in the restaurant. This is not unreasonable to only allow, wine, beer and soft drinks at meal times and would definitely take the pressure off the restaurant staff Another issue that we encountered once was one morning, the waitress approached a large group of guests to take their coffee/tea order. The guests also ordered their breakfast food and the kind lady went out with a plate getting their food for them. She should have politely told them that it was buffet self-service and that they need to get their own food. As she was busy getting food for other guests, we didn’t get a tea or coffee that morning. Whilst out walking around one morning we noticed the start of what looks like a restaurant at the end of the water villas with pool. We were told this is the start of what is going to be an additional buffet restaurant for water villa guests. Construction work was delayed due to lack of guests (understandably so over the last 18 months) but they hope to restart work next year. Bearing in mind the above this will be a welcomed addition to guests and I’m sure staff too. On a very positive note about the restaurant is the food, this is on par with other buffet restaurants we have been to in the Maldives: Breakfast: live eggs cooking station, salad, cold meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, pastries, bread, yoghurt, cereal, as well as the usual ‘English Breakfast’ items and also curries. Freshly squeezed juices. Lunch: Selections of salads, pasta salad, coleslaw, potato salad. Cooked pasta, potatoes, meat dishes, curries, deserts, cake, ice-cream. Evening meal: similar to lunch but theme night where hot food represented the theme of the night so Maldivian night, French night, Indian Ocean night, international night. All the food was tasty, warm and fresh. Just one little niggle, the chefs need to check more on the dishes and keep them well topped up as sometimes we’d go to find an empty dish. At lunch we sometimes gave the buffet a miss and had snacks around the pool. Choice of spring rolls, fries, pizza, sandwiches etc all included on all-inclusive plus. The bar was led by the lovely Krishna and his team. Top team and top guy. Very rarely did we sit with an empty glass. They also got to learn, not only what our favourite drinks were, but what we drank at different times of the day. In the day white wine Spritzer or beer and in the evening red and a Fashion 75 cocktail. Just one more little moan, and this is being picky, but based on previous Maldives holidays. Can you provide water buckets along the wooden jetty’s so those of us that go for the ‘barefoot’ experience can walk along the jetty’s and have something to cool our feet down. Also, the villas need a ‘do not disturb/make up my room’ sign. All in all, we did have a great holiday at Furaveri and would definitely return (perhaps when the additional buffet restaurant is constructed) Thank you to all the team at Furaveri for, for, on the whole making our 2 year absence worth the wait from Rachel and Mr David, England.

Hotel's Favourite
We came to the Maldives to celebrate our anniversary. During two weeks we saw here not just a hotel, but a team of people. Every day, they created for us a paradise on earth. We are both vegans and the kitchen did its best to accommodate our needs - thanks Ibrahim, Manu, Mike, and the team. Another huge appreciation to housekeeping service - Sohib and Ishu. The guys did their job perfectly, always with a warm smile and friendly chat. They even learned a couple of words in Russian :) Watersport - thanks for organizing our private trip, turtles were awesome! Girls from SPA - thanks for restoring our bodies after a long flight. The tea after the massage was great :) Thanks to everyone for thousands of unforgettable moments. You helped us to have a second honeymoon! Stan&Darina

Costed us more than a 5* rated private island, but facilities provided are of a 3-4* rated. Food was average. For full board meal plan, they charge us for drinking water as well at restaurants while having lunch and dinner as part of the plan. Water villa provided was not upto the mark, as stairs are rusty and greasy, which makes it very slippery and could not be used to go to the sea from water villa. Tennis Racquets provided are in a pathetic state(I think they bought them when they opened the Island). I suggest who ever are interested to play Tennis please carry their own. Liked overall Ambience and had fun. Small Sharks are quite common and liked the overall maintenance of the Island.

this was our best holiday ever, from start to finish it was amazing. we owe a lot to the wonderful Mariyam , who took care of us as soon as we got of the sea plane. She showed us our water villa 301 which was the best location on the Island, she helped us with booking the restaurant's and also it was mine and my wife's birthdays when we was over there and she made us feel really special by leaving fruit, wine and a birthday cake in our room when we was out , so that when we came back it was a lovely surprise to come back to. We both got burnt on day 2 of our holiday (we both had factor 30 on , always use factor 50 as you do not realize how hot it is , because of the windy sea breeze).Mariyam got us some fresh Aloe Vera from the plant and gave it to us , this really helped and we was fine the next day. A big thankyou also to Rishab , who severed us drinks of the evening and then also served us breakfast when he got moved from the bar. Last but no means least ,was big Krishna who was the bar manager , he served us drinks and always had a smile on his face and was really funny with his jokes .One last mention to ISHU who was our cleaner in the villa , who cleaned the villa twice a day and his work rate was exceptional , always taking pride in his work , and the happy birthday touches that was written out with flowers over our bed was emotional. Overall it was a really amazing experience and one myself and my wife will never forget. A big thankyou to everyone who made it a holiday of a life time. Stu and Joanne

So here is my review of our entire experience with Furaveri resort. What we loved: 1. Amazing property- the island was beautiful, pristine and well laid out with plenty of vegetation and space. The layout was as such that you have plenty of space and don't bump into other resort guests. The beach was amazing and clean all the time. We were lucky to have good weather on our trip. 2. Staff - the staff had provided some of the best service in all my travels. They were all polite, cheerful and attentive. Some of them went above and beyond to make our experience memorable notably Mr. Krishadas at the bar and Mr Rishab at the restaurant. Mr Krishnadas really put the extra effort to ensure we always had a drink in our hands and never had to wait for anything. Mrs Pili at the Spa also took great care of us. 3.The Room- Our villa was amazing, it had all the amenities we needed, it was immaculate and so clean that we felt immediately at home as soon as we walked in. The pool and the deck was also amazing. What we liked: 1.Water sports- some of the best snorkeling i have done, the staff was friendly and guided us well. Rental equipment was good but could have been better. 2.Shark feeding- it was a fun experience to see the baby sharks as well as some adult sharks fairly close. 3. Variety of drinks offered at the bar. We were able to try many new drinks daily. What we didn't like: 1.The outdoor shower is fun but there was an incident were some staff working on the other villas next to us were working high enough up that they could see us showering. We didnt see anyone looking so it was fine but should be taken into consideration. 2. We had an incident were before departure we needed a shoe bag after one of ours was taken away by cleaning staff and we were not even given a plastic bag as replacement and was asked to pay 15$ for a laundry bag instead. What we hated: 1.'Premium all inclusive' - is neither premium nor all inclusive. The hotel has an all inclusive lite and a premium all inclusive package but it doesn't include everything. Many resorts have multiple restaurants and include them in their all inclusive plans but Furaveri doesn't. If you stay for 5 days they give you one extra meal at one of the restaurants. This was disappointing. Also a tropical island resort charges you if you want coconut water even if you have a premium all inclusive plan. 2.The dessert selection was boring and extremely disappointing, same repeated items that were borderline bad.
