What a pleasant stop on our return from the Dordogne. An ideal retreat for couples who want to relax and recharge in a peaceful setting. Max and Pierre are not the typical chambre d’hote hosts, their talent and attention to detail from the architectural integrity to a well-orchestrated, quality dining experience make this a very special place. Would also be...

Thank you for this review! We spent our first three and a half years restoring the site before starting the journey in the world of receving overnight guests. People like you, who share our passion for French history, are a joy to host.

We very much enjoyed our stay with Max and Pierre in the beautiful Logis de Puygaty. The Logis has been lovingly restored, providing all the comforts you would expect from a luxury hotel - but in a thoughtful and authentic manner, in keeping with the farm's historic roots. Max and Pierre are great hosts - welcoming, friendly and with a...

What a superb place, if you are looking for peace and tranquility in superb and original surroundings this is the place to be, about 17kms from Angouleme on the D674 and down a minor track into the countryside through vines. The owners are great people welcoming and helpful and superb hosts and chefs, remember on booking to order an evening...

Well, what can we say more then all other reviews already said, this is indeed a fantastic and charming place, we loved it immediately upon arrival. Max gave us a great welcome, a nice drink to start with and plenty of info on the property and it's history... We went for a walk around (make sure to ask Max about...

We stayed with Max and Pierre for several nights and we didn't want to leave! From the first instant when Max greeted us to the moment we left with a send off from the whole menagerie I felt like I was staying with old friends at their beautiful country retreat. Max and Pierre designed and built Logis de Puygaty as...

This is a stunning property in the middle of the country side. The outbuildings are from 900 to 1100 ad, and the main building is a 16th century working farm beautifully renovated. Our room - Marrie de la Laurencie - was on two floors, with a super comfortable bed upstairs. The place really is magic, and was a great start...

We stayed there for a night on our way to Dordogne. Every compliment in the comments above is true. The hosts Max and Pierre were charming, Max even took us to a morning stroll with the dogs. The rooms, a former stable, were magnificently restored keeping the old charm but very comfortable at the same time (the bed linens were...

We stayed at this lovely place for two nights. The welcome and gracious attentiveness of the hosts Max and Pierre was absolutely impeccable, enhanced by Max's deep knowledge and clear passion for the Charente and its attractions. This passion is evidenced by the attention to detail the Logis evinces - our room (the suite) was equipped with everything one could...

We stayed at Le Logis de Puygaty for one night having driven from the ferry arriving at Cherbourg on our way to the Dordogne for only one night .... sadly! If only we had allowed more time to linger and soak up some of the charm and character of not only the magical fortified manor house, but of the two...

I came to Logis de Puygaty with high expectations having read the reviews in Tripadviser. I have to say that my expectations were exceeded in almost every respect. Max and Pierre were impeccable hosts, interesting, friendly, attentive and helpful. They have worked wonders on the restoration and refurbishment of what is an imposing building. The bedroom we occupied - Francois...
