Snowy Gums is located in Smiggin Holes (part of Perisher Ski Resort) and only 120m to the ski lifts. It has outstanding facilities such as massive spa, sauna, games room, drying room with boot dryer and guest laundry. Relax after a hard days ski around the huge fire as you enjoy a drink from the Cascades Bar and enjoy a fully cooked breakfast each morning and a 3 course dinner each night from the popular Waterfalls Restaurant, as part of your nightly room rate. You can drive right to the front door and unload all your ski gear and there is also limited parking at the chalet itself - so much better than lugging your gear up ski tube or loading and unloading into oversaw transport. Snowy Gums welcomes families and provides fun entertainment at night to make your stay in the snow a complete on-snow experience.

We came here during beginning of the season this year. Due to covid the management needed to put in a lot more restrictions such as two rounds of dinner serving groups, food & beverage only handled by staff. The serving staff became very busy. But they were very helpful in meeting our needs.
Manager Lea was super friendly and welcoming. We were late first night and she called to checked if we are dining and saved us dinner.
Conversations after dinner at the bar was also very fun.
Our son said top 5 enjoyment of the trip includes friendly staff service of this place. We recommend it.

We had a great stay in the last week of June. Took a gamble on Snowy Gums this year based on the parent company's (OzSnow) assurances that management/service would be improved this year. And it was. The new manager was fantastic, friendly and workwd hard to keep everything running smoothly. Happy to say the lodge had a family friendly vibe, nice view from the renovated lounge/dining area and the food was alright. Rooms were clean and the sauna was working again! No spa though - that seems to be being used as a tech room presently - be nice if they got that going again. The location is great, we could ski from the front door as there had been a big dump the week we arrived. Would definitely stay again based on this.

Awesome accommodation, exceptionally clean, comfy beds and warm. Amazing food and wonderful staff. Management are to be commended for making our snow trip such an enjoyable experience. We always stay at snowy gums and it just gets better and better, thanks to Gary, Lea and Henk and crew! Highly recommend. !!

First stay since Oz Snow have taken over and will be the last.
Definitely not the staff we had a good experience with 2 staff members one in particular who picked us up at Perisher after she had clocked off.
As for the experience of staying there see the following.
We were advised upon arrival that dinner was not part of the package like it had been under previous ownership this is part of the lodge experience where everyone has dinner together. Not at Snowygums you now have to order from their very limited menu or eat somewhere else (recommended even by staff who told us one dish tastes like vomit)
Room had wet carpet under the window that was broken and smelt of mould.
Hot tap in shower broken
Door handle to room loose
The drinks fridge in the bar doesn’t work so all drinks are warm not sure why when there is snow all around.
Breakfast first 2 mornings was terrible just over cooked bacon hash browns and tomato. The 3rd morning after requesting some eggs they provided scrambled eggs which were ok but the 4 morning we got to breakfast and there was a tray of unshelled boiled eggs which hardly got touched.I have never seen this ever what a waste of eggs maybe they were hoping to run out so they didn’t have to cook them the next morning.
After skiing all day you look forward to relaxing by a fire with a cold beer but not at Snowygums the fire that’s adjacent to the bar with warm beer doesn’t get lit???
Can’t wait to leave and will definitely be recommending to a lot of people not to stay at Snowygums or any other lodge owned by OzSnow they have no idea what customer satisfaction is.

I have just returned from Snowy Gums from a bucket list family holiday. I feel I have to warn other people not to waste their hard earned money on this once lovely lodge. I have read the reviews from this year & they are all 100% on the money.

I booked this trip 3 years ago & due to Covid we finally got there this year. OzSnow told me when booking that the only thing that changed under new ownership was you had to pay for your dinner although the price was the same.

I paid for my extended family of 18 people for a total cost of $13,000 for 3 nights!! It is the greatest ripoff of all time!!

One of the new co-owners was there at the time & said the lodge was now not interested in the former clientele & is now interested in the backpacker type market. This was obvious as it rained one day, we were stuck in the place & 40 random young bus people crowded in for a buffet lunch??

The place is filthy & run down, food limited & awful.

We visited Snowy Gums mid week in late July 2022. The property was in a bit of a disheveled state, dirty, and the communal lounge populated with friendly but shabby staff. Cigarette smoke wafted up to the lounge from the entrance where staff gathered to smoke and the lounge itself had loud music pumping over the stereo system most of the day. The large stereo speakers also happened to be rigged up (with cables everywhere) in the middle of the lounge and took up prime seats right in front of the window blocking the otherwise nice view. Breakfast buffet was average. Bar didn't have any decent wine, but plenty of cans of mixers. For the money we paid, it was not good value and certainly not a family friendly vibe. More like a mid range backpackers at 100x the price! Better tailored to the staff than the paying guests.

Snowy Gums used to be a great chalet. I understand the business sold before the start of last season. The lack of positive reviews for last season is in line with our experience . What went wrong? Maybe the new owners got off to a bad start. Any indication the current owners are making a commitment to return this chalet to a clean, family friendly place to stay? A small amount of effort toward better management would make a big difference for guests and probably attract better reviews!

The staff did not care; all about taking cash rather than the experience.
Staff partied into all hours of the morning. The building needs to be reviewed by the local council as there are various non-compliances relating to fire safety and the fire systems identified. The evacuation plans identify exits that have been blocked by storage. If you like to put your life at risk stay at this location.

Expensive, run down, poorly staffed and lousy restaurant food. Shower door would not slide shut. Poor room maintenance in general. Run down but pricey. Unsafe stairs to upper floor attic/bedroom. Part time reception, so if you have my issues good luck. The only thing going for it is location, thus the absolute gouge on price.

Just spent 3 nights at snowy gums chalet at Smiggin Holes and can I just say wow. What a great place to stay. Great location, amazing food (and plenty of it) and a staff that is truly committed to making sure that they are completely COVID safe. Thank you to Leah, Hank and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We will definitely be back, if not this season next year for sure!

The smiggins hole area is beautiful. Peaceful nd good for learning to sky or board.
Snowy gums is a horrible place. The 'manager' Jules is useless worst service I've ever had. The chalet itself doesn't serve drinks throughout the day and has nunerous leaks as its so old and they won't repair anything. Take a raincoat for slerping if its raining as leaks fall on beds. Kid oriented and will neglect you to cater for kids.
