Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Location, location, location! Just metres from the slopes or the bus to Perisher. We had a great week😊The staff were very friendly and engaging with the kids. The meals were fantastic too. Thanks to the team @lodge21 for a great week!

Lodge 21 has a great location, just across the carpark from the lifts at Smiggin Holes. The staff were friendly, but the owner needs to put a lot more work into this place. It looks like it has not been updated for many, many years. There are holes in the walls, the fixtures are falling off, some of the wiring looks dangerous, and lightbulbs seem to be in short supply. The heat in our room was turned off at night, so we shivered through the night and woke miserable in the morning. With a bit of money and effort, this could be a charming lodge, but at the moment it is not a great choice.

Agree with many other reviewers on this property: excellent location (very short walk to snow and lifts), good homecooked food and wonderful staff (I can't stress enough how fantastic the staff were and must mention lovely, friendly Skye), owner was friendly and accommodating ... but very tired, old rooms desperately in need of a facelift, locks are broken, appliances all make noises, beds are shabby (but linens were clean & crisp), priced to expect more. Perhaps not an ideal family lodge but the location simply cannot be beaten for quick ski access at Smiggs!

The location is perfect. Open the curtains in the morning to check the conditions on the slops, stroll across the car park straight to the lifts or jump on the bus for a short trip to Perisher. This was the first season under new management and they have definitely started on a high note. I couldn't fault the service, the staff were great and incredible friendly. The food is tasty and filling and the common areas are well maintained.
I'm already looking forward to my trip back next year.
Thank you Katrina and Matt (and all the gang)

I would never stay in this dirty mouldy overrated Lodge and I will spread the word to everyone I know.
The rooms were small, dirty with mould in the shower.
The owner was no where to be found when we arrived and we had to wait for sometime for our room to be ready. McGregor made a couple of appearances during our stay but that was only to speak to some mates who were staying there.
The food was substandard, I am guessing that the meal allocation was approximately $20 per day per person. Most of the food was processed or manufactured.
The pictures in the ads tell a very different story to the reality of the place.
Things we so bad we left 2 days early.
Mcgregor needs to up his game or his fantastic location we not let him survive.

Macgregor and the team were so welcoming and made it a home away from home from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. The relaxed atmosphere is a perfect option for families and groups. The location is second to none given it is directly opposite the chair lift. The food was absolutely sensational - cooked and continental breakfast each day and totally gourmets each night - pork belly, Rogan Josh curry, Moussaka, Moroccan chicken plus plainer options for the kids. Can’t wait to return.

Wow, what a gem of a find! Matty and Katrina were amazing hosts. They actually made the weekend. So affordable compared to other places we looked at. The position is convenient to access the slopes but also facilities such as Smiggins Hotel. The food was incredible. The log fire and lounge area was just perfect after a long day on the slopes. We went with a bunch of friends but I'll be bringing my family back next time,

Parking situation is terrible. Cars are double and tripple parked.
Had to wait 4hrs for someone to come and move their car so we could head home after our weekend away. They had already had to shuffle cars once that morning to allow another car to leave.

A can of Glen 20 and container of pine-o-clean disinfectant wipes, which we had to drive 20 mins to Jindabyne to buy, still didn't make this place tolerable for a friends wedding.(Oh and the 2 bottles of red we're drinking to cope didn't either!!) By far the worst place we've stayed in, oh, maybe ever! Bathroom isn't an en suite but across the hall (no lock), fridge covered in mould, floor hasn't seen a vacuum since 1982, we're walking around indoors in rubber thongs, with pants rolled up so nothing touches the floor. Feel completely ripped off -$150/night for sub standard, filthy, dated backpacker accommodation. No dinner or food options available, despite website saying dinner included. Owner did not confirm booking or respond to any communication prior to arrival. If there were any other options available trust me, we would be going there. It might be close to the snow but I'd rather stay off-snow than here... Ever!

i recently stayed at lodge 21 and like all the other reviews the place is in the best location in smiggins no doubt. The food was good some nights but bland and not inviting in presentation other nights, The Manager Matt was the saviour of our trip! Nothing was to hard and was always happy to help even on his days off, He has the place running well and by the looks of what he deals with day in and day out he could manage anywhere. The owner of the lodge is the main issue i believe, he drinks all the time and approachs guest when drunk. We were kept up a few nights by partying and loud music and each night my husband went down stairs to ask them to be quite! He returns to our room and tells me that it is the owner! Smoking,Drinking and destroying the place with his friends. Then the poor staff (mainly Matt) have to deal with the complaints in the morning! Not fair. My advice if you wanna party and not sleep go to lodge 21 and see the owner, If you can time it well when he is not there, well your on the snow with great staff a comfy bed and a good brerakfast.
