I had a really nice stay at the Horizon Karon Beach Resort & Spa in Phuket. The location is super convenient since it’s just a short walk to Karon Beach—perfect for anyone who loves the beach. The breakfast spread was awesome, giving me a great start to my day. My room was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the pool, which added to the chill vibe. The swimming pool was also really nice and inviting. There was some renovation stuff happening during my visit, but it didn’t bother me much. I think once everything is finished, the place will look even better. Overall, I had a comfy stay and can't wait to come back to the Horizon Karon Beach Resort & Spa in the future.

I first stayed here more than 10 years ago. Not much has changed, it is still excellent! The staff, all of them, are friendly and welcoming with big smiles and waves as you pass. To be honest, I don't usually spend this much on a hotel room but I couldn't resist one night of luxury. Everything about the Horizon makes you feel like you are on holiday. The tropical garden setting surrounding the pools, to the sound of the flowing water feature is just lovely. The rooms are spacious, with balconies. Excellent bathroom facilities, large fridge, tea and coffee and exquisite beds with crisp white sheets and way too many pillows!!! (not really too many). The buffet breakfast is fantastic. Eggs cooked to order, a huge variety of foods, both hot and cold, including vegetarian sections. The hotel is located at the top of a small lane, 2 minutes from Karon beach. If you need assistance getting up and down the lane a dedicated hotel tuk tuk will transport you. They also provide free shuttles to and from Patong. Spoil yourself here, even if it is just one night. Enjoy.

Horizon Karon sits a the end of Karon beach. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of other parts of Phuket and was a good place to relax in the evenings.
Room: The room was a good size and clean. The toilets will be bit weird for Western travellers not familiar with travelling in Thailand but this is common for the area. The main rule was to not flush toilet paper.
Internet: The complimentary wifi was fast and reliable. No issues.
Service: The service was excellent during my stay. Staff were friendly and helpful arranging taxi's to get me everywhere where I needed to go. Check-in and check-out was a smooth and relaxing process. I liked the on-site convenience store, this saved me a trip outside of the hotel.
Gym: The hotel had a good sized gym with plenty of equipment. I used it a couple of times during my stay and never saw anyone else in it.
Overall: A pleasant stay and friendly staff. 5/5

Did not check in for 4 hours, brazenly answering say call the operator, hotel not confirmed, check-in voucher with paid payment Even did not look, as a result of the scandal checked in, allegedly sent us to a meeting, but we understand if there was no payment, as we were told at the reception, we would not be checked in, as a result a deluxe room overlooking the wall with boxes from air conditioners with terrible noise and wasted nerves and time. Piggy attitude to guests! They act like you're here on holiday at their expense, I highly recommend against it!

We stayed 1 night and had to check out after booking in for 7 night. Half of the facilities were not operational, including advertised spa, minimart, games room, shuttle service, second pool, adults area. Gym was not available on the day we arrived as they were painting it and next day fumes were so bad I couldn't even stay in there. All was under construction and when I asked was advised that they just opened in Nov 2024 after Covid!! I have so many photos.
Eventually received a full refund but was very stressful over New Year's period and had to book another accommodation and pay double price due to high season.

Nice hotel with multiple pools Very large room Except the hotel was under construction No spa or kids club Hot tub that does not work You wake up early from the sound of drills Gym under construction also Frankly apart from the room and breakfast which was full there was everything and well to occupy a child you had to leave the hotel
The beach is at 5 min grand max with a very complicated long slope with a stroller for climbing
Disappointed because if I knew I would have chosen another hotel where my child can have fun
Listening and very professional staff

Just returned from 10 days at the Horizon. Whilst lovely relaxed holiday this is a hotel of two halves. The Privilege side & the normal hotel. We stayed in the normal side which is what the review is based on. The description of the hotel as 'luxurious' is obviously based on the Privilege side of the hotel.
Pros: Lovely, landscaped gardens. Wonderful staff. Close to Karon Beach. We preferred Kata Beach - turn left at bottom of hill & 15 min walk. Turn right at fork in road.
Cons: Shuttle takes you up & down hill. 9 til 9. After that it's a walk up a STEEP hill. Not a hotel for anyone who struggles with steps/walking. Showers! I'm quite fit but shower over bath which is low with huge surround. Accident waiting to happen getting in and out of there. I was concerned & asked to move to room with walk in shower. We could but at additional cost. Bring your own hairdryer! There is supposedly a policy of no reserving sunbeds- this isn't adhered to & with sunbeds at a premium it's not ideal.
No comfy lounge area to sit & enjoy a drink. They do have bands on but you sit at same restaurant where you eat breakfast with wooden seats. Food & drink (both in restaurant & pool bar) far more expensive than local restaurants & bars. No atmosphere as empty most of time we were there. First 2 images show the Privilege shower room to use on your last day. Others show our room with shower in bath, privacy blind and shower curtain - both stained. Quite a difference!
If you still want to book this hotel I would recommend upgrading to the Privilege side of the hotel.

Chose the hotel on the basis of the reviews, and they were great:(. Alarmed just now the reviews all 16-20. What's the bottom line. Arrived at the hotel on November 19, 2024.the hotel just started functioning after a huge break. We just started planting lawns and flowers. One enclosure out of four is working. The kids' club is down. Fitness center doesn't work either. The reception meeting is cold and rambling. Accommodation 15 , arrived at 16 occupied 1.5 hours. In general, the girls at reception aren't smart or friendly. The room smells damp. Everything worked except the safe. Air conditioning in any mode is very hard to freeze. Very bad mattress on the bed. You roll over, you plant your partner. Breakfast's good - straight to 5. Beach is minus 5 . From the hotel from the slide, back to the slide(250 m). Swimming pools- run 2 of 4 clean . There are few pool beds, but there are always empty ones.

The hotel has been closed for a few years but has now reopened after renovation. Nice rooms with pool views and beautiful garden. I stayed there during pre-opening in mid-November and then everything was not yet completely ready. The rooms with pool access were still being decorated. Officially, they open December 1, 2024. On the minus side, the steep hill comes up from the main street of Karon. There are also a lot of stairs in the area. Breakfast is clearly approved and the staff is very helpful and service oriented. Good price.

Would recommend the Horizon to anyone staying in the Karon area. Staff and facilities were on point. Don't be perturbed with the hill as the shuttle is available at all times to ferry you down to the main street. Stayed in the Privilege Club and could not fault at all. Lucky enough to celebrate a birthday there and the resort went out of their way to ensure that the day was made extra special. Would most certainly go back again. Thank you

Only guests staying in the adults only area can use the adults only pool. If you are staying in the "privilege area" the adults only area you can use all other parts and pools of the hotel.
Yes there is Wifi in rooms, tv is acceptable but we wanted make sure we spent our time exploring and enjoying. The bath was fine and shower was over bath in our room. There is a kids club there but my kids were to old. Staff were so lovely to my kids they are wonderful and kind people.
There are more places to choose from in the Karon area.
