The Slate Phuket enchants guests with its unique industrial chic ambiance and a history-inspired luxurious atmosphere. Cleanliness is a highlight, with travelers consistently lauding the pristine condition of the hotel. The service receives acclaim for staff friendliness and professionalism, though occasionally marred by communication hiccups and delays.
While some guests enjoy peaceful nights, others are disturbed by noise issues. Its prime location garners appreciation for proximity to the airport and picturesque beach setting. Despite mixed feelings on value and room decor, the spaciousness and amenities, including the acclaimed Black Ginger restaurant, are celebrated.

Stayed here for 7 nights in a private pool villa room. The room was beautiful and spacious, however, we didn't use the pool area as it got no sun whatsoever, so it wasn't really practical to sunbathe in privacy or enjoy the space, although we did use it a little to cool down after being at the beach all day. If I booked again I would book one of the other type rooms without a pool as a lot of the balconies looked really spacious and got a lot of sun. The whole complex is beautifully kept and very pretty, the staff work extremely hard to keep everything immaculate and pictures don't really do the place justice, it is so much better in real life. The pool areas were also immaculate, but what spoilt it for us was the closeness of the sunbeds, it just didn't feel private and there was the usual sun-bed hogging early morning, with people just having to have the same sun-bed each day. There are notices regarding reserving sun-beds and leaving them, but this isn't enforced. We only went to the adults pool near us once and spent the rest of our time at the beach. We tried the family pool one day but that was just a little noisy and also the pool is on the shade on the afternoon. The beach is out of the gate and across a small road and is really lovely, we got a sun-bed every time we went, although some people did find it difficult. The vendors keep back a number of beds and when they recognise the previous days customers they find a bed for you. Food and drink is really cheap at the beach and we enjoyed several lunches at our sun-bed and also used some of the beachside restaurants for both lunch and dinner. There are shops, restaurants and food-carts the full length of the beach, so there is always something to eat or drink and there were plenty of massage shops. We ate breakfast in the hotel and had 2 evening meals, the prices were quite reasonable but drinks were expensive. Most places in the hotel seemed really empty on a night, so it was nice and quiet. Breakfast had some good choices and lots of fresh fruit and pastries. We asked for a packed breakfast one day which was reasonable, however, the hotel did get it wrong and only gave us one breakfast instead of two, so we had to share. The staff try their hardest to help and were polite and helpful, a few things got lost in translation once or twice and we didn't get the wake up call we needed for an early trip and a buggy failed to turn up to collect our luggage on time, but these were small niggles which didn't impact us, luckily I used my phone as an alarm and we had plenty of time to get our luggage moved. Overall this was a really pleasant stay, the bed was really comfy and we slept really well. The one thing I did find a bit difficult was the lack of light in the room and other areas in the hotel, whilst the decor is amazing, its quite dark, our room was very dark and lacked natural light due to the shaded outdoor area, even with the lights on, you cant really see well in the mirrors, the bars, restaurants and toilets in public areas are also very dark.

We’ve returned from an 8 night stay at The Slate and wish we were back there! We didnt want to leave. The hotel is absolutely stunning and ticks every single box (maybe apart from air con in some of the communal areas but this would spoil the open air theme of the hotel) We booked a pool room as we were celebrating a big birthday. The room was superb and well placed between pools 2 & 3. Arrival was very quick and informative with a lovely glass of something to drink, not sure what it was but it was lush and a worst corsages for the ladies. The bed in the room is so comfortable and the rooms are spotless, maid visits around 6pm to fill the mosquito coil, cleans away used towels, draws the curtains, our maid was so lovely. The hotel has a stock room where you can buy some of the Slate products, I loved the smell of the shower/bath items that I bought some to bring home as a constant reminder. I thought this was a great touch. We ate and drank a fair bit in the hotel. Used the pool bar several times, River and Rebar and Black Ginger, we also used in house dining and the food was spot on every time. Black Ginger was a gorgeous experience, food was outstanding as was the service. We felt we wanted to try more food but didn’t have the time ! Food is obviously more expensive than outside the hotel but is definitely worth it, I’d say the prices were comparable to a good meal in the UK but of a far better standard we were very surprised by our bill on check out which included a Phi Phi tour. The pools are gorgeous and so quiet, water is a plenty from the lovely pool guys as well as fruit and cold towels which always made my morning. we tended to use pool 3 but had used pool 2 with the swim up bar. The hotel is spotless and just feels like an oasis of calm at all times, it was the most relaxing holiday I’ve been on, particularly in a large hotel, it was full at the time but you would have never have guessed. I felt totally relaxed after the trip. We used some of the bars and restaurants outside the hotel which were all really good, nothing stood out particularly but the staff again are all lovely and welcoming. We were invited to the cocktail party where you get to meet staff and other guests and enjoy free flow drinks and canapés. We met Sao from food and beverages and a guy from IT, both were lovely and talked about how they enjoyed working at The Slate. This was a lovely touch I felt. I couldn’t recommend this hotel any more, it’s just amazing and we can’t wait to return. Close and convenient for the airport too. Literally 5 minutes. Many thanks to all the staff who made my birthday the most enjoyable memorable experience. We will be back !

Luxury hotel, just one love ❤️ Huge beautiful rooms, unreal territory, there are art objects, lotuses, and white palm trees, incredibly well groomed everything. The staff tries to execute and anticipate any whimsy. As an example, we were going on a two-day tour of the islands, the girl at the spa reception literally ran after us asking if we needed beach towels. Thank her very much! Another huge plus - the hotel has its own app, which is very convenient to order room meals, make restaurant reservations, book shuttles, etc. Three large pools, two of them for adults. Every evening the maid comes to prepare the room for bed - on the balcony sets fire to the spiral from insects, draws the curtains. And separate love is the Black Ginger restaurant on the property. Very beautiful and delicious. I'm pretty sure I'm no worse than Michelin restaurants, I'm surprised they haven't been given one star yet. In general, the hotel highly recommended

My husband and I just stayed for one night as we booked additional nights to Koh Yao Yai thinking as we had the impression that Phuket was going to be too crowded during Chinese New Year! But we were mistaken especially since The Slate was an oasis and perfect haven!
We arrived past midnight due to a delayed flight and the transportation and kind driver we arranged with the hotel was there waiting for us. The drive was only about 15 minutes or less and the cost of 350 TBH was reasonable and appreciated. (The correspondence we had prior to the trip was well arranged by Rosie and the Reservations Team!)
The team who welcomed us the evening we checked in on February 9 were full of life! Thank you for the cool leather bracelet/necklace that we can exchange for free drinks at the bar or restaurants which we used for delicious smoothies! When we arrived at our accommodation, we were touched to see complimentary sandwiches and fruits welcomed us! It showed how much of a forward thinking the staff and management are. They wanted to provide us food in case we arrived hungry. Thank you!!
Breakfast team were hardworking! The clients at the hotel when we booked were mainly westerners - mix of families and couple of all ages. We saw the same mix at the beach located in the back side of the hotel. The beach offered plenty of local restaurants and other businesses like tours, rental cars/bikes, money exchange, and affordable massages.
Our room was spotless and huge! Kudos to the Housekeeping Team for maintaining the cleanliness of the suite! We loved the spacious bathroom and our big balcony had a tub facing the serene adult pool! We saw two main pools and they were all beautiful with attentive pool attendants who provided the guests with cold water and big beach towels.
We rented standup paddle boards at 300 TBH with local stand by the beach. The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and for kayaking and stand up paddling. We are big on SUP so we appreciated the environment and conducive for SUP! But we realized later that the hotel provides complimentary SUPs along with other activities like archery, biking, etc.
The Slate has unique decor and we later realized that it was designed by hotelier Bill Bensley! The landscaping makes you feel so peaceful! You can easily find places to read a book, do yoga, etc.
We already plan on returning in a couple of months to enjoy more of the facilities, activities, and surrounding areas. Big thanks to your staff for giving us an absolute incredible time despite just staying for just 12 hours.

The staff at The Slate Phuket were warm and professional. We were greeted with smiles on arrival, and it was a pleasure to meet the hotel manager and all of the staff throughout our stay.
The hotel’s design is a creative blend of industrial and retro styles recognisong Phuket’s tin mining history. It’s a visual treat, and though I’m not big on Instagram, I can see why it’s a hotspot for those who are.
The gardens and pools are lush and inviting, and the gym is great for keeping up with fitness goals during the holiday.
Our Pearl Bed Suite was a spacious room, with its 65 sqm, had a wonderful balcony and a luxurious bathtub.
Dining at the Ginger Tree restaurant was a real treat. The food and the beautiful setting made it the best meal of our Thailand trip.
The attention to detail extended to the twice-daily room cleaning and turn-down service, keeping everything spotless.
What stood out was how The Slate goes beyond the typical luxury experience with little extras like a welcome drink and complimentary dinners from the regular menu, not some restricted “special” one. It’s those touches that make a stay feel more personal.
Their concierge app was handy, too—we used it to order room service, request housekeeping, and stay up-to-date on offers and maintenance notices.
Breakfast was everything you’d expect from a 5-star hotel, with a variety of options and impeccable service.
To sum it up, we couldn’t have ended our month in Thailand on a better note. The Slate Phuket is easily one of the top hotels we’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it’s excellent value for a luxury experience compared to other prestige hotels we've stayed in.

The hotel is stylish, refined, luxurious! The hotel is a highlight, it has such a delicious aroma that haunts you throughout the hotel! The hotel grounds are very green, well maintained, birds singing, butterflies flying, fish swimming, frogs croaking, there are many art objects on the property, very atmospheric, especially in the evening! There are three swimming pools with soft, fluffy towels and lemon water! Breakfasts are varied, rich selection of juices and fresh fruit, delicious coffee! The on-site restaurants are very refined. Dinner was mostly at the hotel, it was delicious! I would like to point out that the hotel does not use disposable plastic, in the area by the pool use dishes made of reusable plastic, fruit is served on wooden swords, water bottles in the rooms and in the gym are glass with bugle cork, cosmetics in the room will be replenished in iron containers and smells very good! Concern for the environment is gradually becoming a trend of the times! The staff are very polite, friendly and smiling, always say hello! Every night, the room is prepped for bed, and mosquito repellent is lit on the veranda and candles in the bathroom! The beach was clean, the sea calm and warm! I didn't want to leave! Thank you very much to the entire hotel team for their hospitality, care and unforgettable atmosphere! We'll definitely be back!

The Slate is in a great location, ten minutes from the airport on Nai Yang beach in North West Phuket. It is very handy if flying in late or if you need to leave early. The grounds are huge but easily managed, either by walking or making use of the efficient buggy service. The Slate's gardens are superb, cared for by a team of able gardeners. The standout to us was the rows of bromeliads in varying colours. We originally booked a Pearl Bed Suite but decided to upgrade to a room with a pool, which proved to be a good decision. Our early morning dips were a great way to start the day. The Coqoon Spa is top class, with choice of oil and very high quality service and massages. Several restaurants and bars are available, but we found the Tin Mine to be of consistently high quality and with reasonable prices. Daily breakfasts were also at the Tin Mine restaurant and were simply superb. There was a large variety to choose from and they served cappuccinos and hot chocolate in large mugs (their hot chocolates are the best!). Service was wonderful, especially from lovely Choong. We dined one night at the Black Ginger restaurant and it was a very pleasant experience. Our meals were world class, the chef was delightful and service was excellent. To add a unique touch, entry to the restaurant was via a barge, propelled by rope pull across an exquisite pond. Within a short walk of the resort is the Nai Yang village, with shops, cafes, restaurants and massage shops. The restaurants were cheaper but the quality was disappointing, so we would recommend dining at one of The Slate's restaurants. Nai Yang beach is just a short walk away and the waves are gentle. The resort has two adults only pools and one family pool. We thoroughly enjoyed the adult pools, in particular the one with the Plumb Bob swim up bar, which we made regular use of. The Bensley architecture was impressive, but we must say we were not impressed by the "industrial" decor throughout the resort. Some may like it, but it is not for us. Overall, The Slate is a wonderful resort and we would strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to rest and revitalise.

We stayed at the Slate for a week before Christmas as a family (2 children, 1 and 4 years old). Since we didn't want any more long transfers after the long flight, the location turned out to be perfect. 5 minutes from the airport, but no aircraft noise or anything like that. Beautiful, flat beach with numerous restaurants and food trucks on the doorstep. The room was very spacious, almost like a suite, there was a good baby bed and a large bed with a curtain that could be drawn for the older one, which was very practical, in addition to the parents' double bed. We found it particularly pleasant that the air conditioning didn't blow on anyone's head. This is very well thought out. Everything was sparkling clean, the chambermaid did a great job. We used the family and baby pool with the kids. Everything was beautifully laid out and there are numerous beach and water toys that can be used free of charge. We didn't really expect families to find such a large selection here, as the hotel also has an adults-only area. Ian from the pool looks after the guests very attentively, brings water, towels, fruit skewers and has a big heart for children. We booked a package including half board and mostly ate at Tin Mine. There is an international and a Thai menu. We only ate Thai and it was excellent. Breakfast is also served there with a huge selection of international and Thai dishes, there are various cooking stations, even a selection of different breads and everything is fresh, delicious and appetizingly presented. If you have something to complain about here, there is no help for you. The staff are very friendly and always make an effort to ensure the well-being of guests, both big and small. We mostly ate outside at lunchtime. There is a nice selection of restaurants and stalls on the beach. And although it was always delicious, the food at Tin Mine stood out in particular. We went on a trip to the Old Phuket Farm, recommended by the kids club in the hotel and organized by the hotel. Absolutely recommended for families. The children can see how rice is grown and harvested, how rubber is extracted and processed into rubber, how tin is washed and much more. Educational and interactive. Above all, everything at our own pace and very family-oriented. We all had a lot of fun. The classic kids club activities were also well chosen, including water games, batik, baking, all of which can be done even if the children don't speak English. All in all, it was the perfect week's holiday for us in Phuket. We would love to come back.

We have just spent 2 weeks at The Slate and wow… it did not disappoint! Absolutely everything was amazing - the resort was stunning and so well kept, the staff I cannot praise highly enough for their professionalism and just all round loveliness!! We attended the Sunday brunch, and ate at both Rivet and Black Ginger and thoroughly enjoyed all three experiences!! The app they use for all correspondence and bookings works seamlessly, and coupled with their exceptional customer service, meant we never had to wait very long for a response.
We’d read lots of other reviews where people had mentioned barely seeing another person, and that was so true! Aside from breakfast, you’d have never know the resort was full. The location of this resort is fantastic too - you step out of one of two back gates onto the a really lovely street with some amazing restaurants, massages, shops and of course the beach! We never ever had to worry about sunbeds, there were always plenty available at all the pools, all throughout the day - no silliness with people reserving them at 6am! - and they do adhere to the Pulley pool and Snakeskin pool being adults only.
Yes, it is much more expensive to eat, drink, shop, spa etc here than if you step outside the back gates, so we did have a bit of a shock when we got the final bill, particularly as everything has a 17% tax charge on top!! Cocktails were around THB420 as opposed to THB180 plus, outside the resort. We had treatments at outside spas ranging from THB200 to THB500 and paid THB3,600 for treatments at The Slate spa, just to give you an idea. But of course, everything we had at the Slate was that bit more luxurious!
I cannot recommend The Slate highly enough, it was perfect for us visiting as a couple and felt a ‘grown up’ resort - I would stay here again in a heartbeat! ‘Khob Khun Ka’ to all the lovely staff who made our stay so special!

We chose The Slate because the reviews were very positive and the photos were superb.
While the staff is adorable and smiling, unfortunately, they are not up to the standard of a 5-star hotel.
The room cleaning is not done properly.
The mirrors (and there are many) in our room were covered with hand and fingerprint marks, and we found a dirty slipper under our bed that didn’t belong to us.
Inside the room, the air conditioning is very noisy.
Outside, since there is no double glazing and the hotel is under a flight path, the noise is also significant.
Communication between staff members is faulty. It was only after three days and explanations, both written and spoken to four different people, that appropriate cleaning was undertaken in our room. We were leaving the next day.
Furthermore, we went to the restaurant three times and waited 1.5 hours each time for a main course and a dessert.
The first time, the staff apologized, explaining that the fish took time to cook, then that there had been a mistake in the kitchen. Our dishes were offered.
The second time, they told us that the sticky rice in the dessert had taken time to fry.
The third time, after waiting 15 minutes for three scoops of ice cream, we received apologies and explanations: the ice cream was too cold; we had to wait.
At breakfast, systematic errors in taking orders. Two lattes instead of an Americano and a latte, a cappuccino instead of a latte, an Americano that never arrives.
Nothing serious in itself if the establishment didn’t charge such high prices, whether for the rooms or the restaurant.
We leave with the feeling of having paid a substantial amount for services well below those expected for such a price.

There is not a bespoke juice bar, however there are a great selection of freshly squeezed juices that i am sure will find something you like. The breakfast is truly amazing!b
Overall not too many stairs, however there were two flights to ascend/descend to our room - no ramp that I saw. I presume there is a lift for the house keeping trolleys but I could be wrong?!
All the food is lovely trust me.personally I would not do a meal Dea.Walk out of the back of the hotel and there are restaurants everywhere plus you can sit by the beach and watch the amazing sunsets. But do try the slate restaurants too. They are fabulous.
There are more places to choose from in the Nai Yang area.
