The staff are lovely. The kettle didnt work so reception gave me a new one. Room was clean but had a real musty smell to it. The bathroom was okay but the upgrade looked like it was not done by a professional more like my paint job. Shower rose leaked down the wall and bathroom door jammed. Bed was nice and comfortable.

I chose the Waltzing Matilda because it was relatively close to where I was working and having a bistro on site meant I didn't have to go out again when I finished work. It was comfortable enough, for an older building that has had some refurbishment and it had a good work area and good wifi. The food in the bistro is also good value. There is a major road close by and traffic noise was an issue as the room wasn't very sound proof. I also heard any conversation conducted in the car park outside just like it was being held in my room. For $99 a night though it actually exceeded my expectations.

Recently renovated rooms grabbed our attention as they were extremely run down the last time we visited.

The new rooms are clean, and have a modern feel.

The bed was very comfy.

The only negatives-

Bathroom ceiling was dirty and needed painting, and the outside area of the motel needed a revamp like the inside.

Check in could have been a little friendlier, the young man who "Greeted" us made me feel like we were a nuisance rather than a guest. Not a smile, have a nice stay or any greeting at all.
The rooms were comfortable and clean, good pressure in the shower and nice hot water. Our room had been refurbished with new paint and bedding.
The pub does great meals if you are so inclined and Chadstone Shopping Centre is only a couple of minutes drive away. There was a bit of noise from other rooms, but we did not hear anything from Warrigul Road or the hotel.
Check out was easy and the lady on reception was lovely and attentive. If you want central and good value for money I would recommend.

. As I had 2 rooms Check in process was a hassle. I did not find the attendant friendly.
I did request downstairs but was told because I had booked with an online booking app I couldn't get downstairs. Felt like a 2nd rate citizen.
Room was old and basic but ok. Bed very comfy. There was noise in car park through night but at hotels I guess that not u usual
Did not know that reception closed in morning and to leave keys in room. So had another trip upstairs to take key back.
As I was attending a function at hotel it served its purpose.

Called into the Waltzing Matilda Hotel last week with friends, decor bit old however the meals were extremely good and cheap, soup and main course for lunch was $10 where
can you get 2 good courses for that? Like most pubs these days they offer incentives to go there and we will be back. Enjoyeed a good meal in quiet surroundings.

Having seen a number of not so good reviews, I was a little unsure if I’d made the right decision, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about! The service and value were incredible.
I booked my trip on Agoda as it was the cheapest I could find. A few days before my visit my plans changed and I emailed the hotel to ask if a larger room was available and how much it would cost to upgrade. I received an email response quickly informing me a room was available so they had upgraded me without further charge..impressive!
Check in was quick and easy, which was great after 12 hours of driving! We were even given breakfast packs which I didn’t know were included! Not having to buy breakfast each day was a wonderful surprise and the packs were perfectly adequate. We also received free drink vouchers for the hotel and as it was Friday my daughter ate free, so it was a very cheap meal which was also delicious.
The room was small but very tidy and the bed was so comfortable. I usually find it difficult to sleep in hotels but had no problem falling asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow.
The walls are thin so you can hear some street noise and noise from other guests but it never lasts long. I was woken twice during my stay by other guests returning to their accommodation, but it was brief and I fell back to sleep quickly in my very warm and cosy bed.
Other reviews had complained about a lack of hairdryer, so I had the good sense to pack my own travel one with me!
Staff were happy and friendly and I appreciated coming home to a freshly cleaned room and made beds after a long day of basketball competition each day.
The location was excellent and easy to get around to all of the locations I needed (pretty much 20-30 minutes to everywhere!).
I would not hesitate to stay here again, and have no doubt I probably will!
