We recently stayed at The Allyn Riverside cabins for a long weekend getaway. We live in Newcastle NSW and it was a short trip but what a change of scenery. Being immersed in nature is fantastic. The property itself is made from wood. It has a very country feel to it with its log fire and log beams. The kitchen facilities are great and so are the nice touches like the cd player etc. the balcony overlooking the river was breathtaking.
All in all for a short break I really recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely stunning atmosphere and surrounds from the moment you drive into the driveway . Running river right past your verandah . Comfy beds . Spa bath . Peace and tranquility 15 out of 10 . Nice close drive to Ladys Well but really no need to when the river runs right through the property.. so much to see as well as total relaxation with just the sounds of the water the birds and the cows .

We really enjoyed our weekend away.
Lovely and peaceful.
No wifi , mobile phones or tv reception so a perfect chance to do nothing .
Our 9 year old loved checking out the river and having a swim ( although it was freezing in the water)
It is the higher end cost price ( over $700 for 2 nights )
We were however lucky to find this on the Friday night before the long weekend and needing it that weekend due to other accommodation falling through elsewhere .
We had a great time but probably wouldn't pay that kind of money again just for a weekend.
Thanks for a lovely time

We came to visit with our 2 teenage girls and our dog for New Years 2016 and we were not disappointed. Such a beautiful location and we had such a relaxed time. The cabin had lots of little extra touches like wood pre chopped, outdoor fire pits ready to go, and the most fantastic balcony to relax and watch the gorgeous river. Dogs are welcome and it's just a 5 minute drive to the waterfalls at Ladies Well in the state Forrest. Can't wait to go back and can't recommend this place enough

We stayed in the riverside cabin which was just lovely. The cabins are situated about 35km from East Gresford (about 9km on dirt roads) and the directions provided were spot on.

It was lovely and quiet with just us and our little dog who had the best time chasing the cows (he ran, they didn't).

The kitchen is fully equiped the BBQ is great, just make sure you take everything you need. There is a spa and a fire place which we watched DVD's by. They have a large selection on offer and you can get a good laugh out of the sub-titles (obviously from Thailand). Loads of magazines but it is really nice to just sit by the river with some refreshments and nibbles.

The cabin was spotlessly clean and the caretaker provides loads of firewood for you (and bonfires by the river would be fabulous if you were with a group or had kids)

Pick up some meat at the East Gresford butcher - fantastic meat!

We would go again, and try summer this time. Really worth the effort!

The riverside cabin we stayed auited our brief 3 night stay (October 2012). We shared this with another couple who were also pleasantly surprised with the sauna and lovely Allyn River. One of us managed the swimming hole and a group crossed the road to climb the 45 min trail to overlook Barrington Tops. Not a terrible lot to do otherwise but that was never our concern. Make sure you have your shopping done before you arrive. Dungog is probably the best place to do this.

We stayed at the Allyn Riverside Cabins for 3 nights in February 2012. We were in the Riverview Cabin which is set back 50 metres from the river with a lovely outlook. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return and probably stay a bit longer next time. We were looking for privacy, peace and tranquillity and we weren't disappointed. The two cabins, although quite close to each other, still offered privacy.

It was lovely listening to the sound of the river at night, and to wake up to the sound of abundant birdlife in the morning. It was warm during the day and comfortably cool at night. There are a couple of great swimming holes in the river and it was perfect weather for a swim - the water was clean and very refreshing.

The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. It was great to escape the real world for a while and have a few days without the intrusion of TV, telephone and internet. We enjoyed playing scrabble, listening to music and relaxing in the spa.

We loved sitting on the deck, especially in the morning when the birdlife was buzzing around us. It was great to escape the busyness of life and all of its distractions and just 'be still' for a few days.

We went for a day trip into Chichester State Forest and Barrington Tops National Park. Mount Allyn lookout has awesome 360 degree views of the surrounding area and the walk through the rainforest to Burraga Swamp was surreal and offered some excellent photo opportunities. We briefly visited Ladies Well which looked like a great place to swim, but it was crowded with people staying at the nearby camp grounds and day trippers, so we decided that the swimming holes back at the property were a much better option.

We loved this place and will definitely return.

If you are after reconnection WITHOUT connectivity, do yourself a favour and book into this little getaway. You may not be able to check your emails, or txts, tiktok, insta....or whatever, but you will be able to clear your mind and take a reprieve from a lot of the superfluous stuff we fill our lives with on an everyday basis. Bring all your own food and beverage as shopping is a little on the scarcer side once past the larger towns (kitchen is fully equipped...even has a sandwich press for toasties...yum).....and if you have a four legged friend, bring him/her along too. It was cold but we were warm....thanks to a gorgeous, roaring combustion fireplace and comfortable, blanket laden beds (electric blankets as well). The sound of the bubbling river 20 metres away is the perfect audio backdrop to such a picturesque idyll and a great place to walk along (even in the chilly temps).
A great stay, far away from city hustle, an easy 3 hour drive from Sydney.

We arrived on Monday after packing the usual to take on a trip where there is no shops for miles. This place has everything. We stayed in the Riverside Cabin and nothing was left out from a bread maker in the well stocked kitchen (even tea, coffee, cooking oil, flour, paper towel and kitchen wrap. Bubble bath was supplied for the two person spa. Our two nights went to fast it was relaxing, the river gurgling by. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience the beautiful Allyn with a touch of luxury to boot.

"Both cabins are right on the water you can see the river from both, I'd recommend the riverside cabin, worth the $20 or so extra per night."
