Yes, you don't need to book beforehand. I think they recommend at least half a days' notice, though. If you wanted to book a ranger (they don't call them guides) for the evening you arrive, you could possibly request one at the DVFC in Lahad Datu before your transfer. Otherwise, organise for all other walks/drives when you get there
