All apartments are self contained and serviced weekly,As well as our beachfront apartments we also have apartments in a quiet tropical garden setting and on the ground floor, and they include full kitchens plus oven, microwave, air-conditioning, flat screen TV, DVD & Free Wi-Fi Internet. Shared facilities include BBQ area, Pool, Onsite Laundry and ample space for children to play, all located just 50 metres from the best beach in Hervey Bay (Shelly Beach). Our 1 and 2 bedroom apartments are perfect for families or couples sharing. Our apartments offer a quiet tropical & peaceful setting and have easy access to our pool and BBQ area and the beach. Great Restaurants including the famous Santin's Italian Restaurant and Hotels, are in walking distance. How wonderful to get genuine old fashioned service. Wonderful hosts, very clean, comfortable accommodation. I only had an overnight stay but will be coming back with my family for a much longer stay. Book direct and recommend them as a first choice if coming to Harvey Bay.

Lovely clean and comfortable apartment with lovely rooms and Kitchen with all amenities. Short walk to beach and restaurants. Friendly hosts. Great walkway along Front on the Beach side.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Colonial Lodge. Our apartment was clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs and included free wifi. The motel Is well located to walk to shops and restaurants. The highlight of our stay was the friendly and helpful owners, nothing was too much trouble for them, they even gave us the use of one of the apartments so that we could get changed and relax before our evening flight back to the UK. Thank you Michael, Peter and Mum for a most enjoyable stay at Colonial Lodge. Highly recommended!

This is no longer a hotel. We booked a room through hotels.com only to turn up and be told it has not been a hotel in 18 months. No one in reception to speak with and our money and holiday is now gone. Do not fall for this scam like we did. Would give 0 stars if I could

Unfortunately only a one night stay but we would have been happy to stay a few more at this quiet unassuming place! The price was right and the service and greetings from the owners was first class. We felt very welcome and were shown to our room with an explanation of the self locking door, wi-fi code and beach access.
The unit has a small kitchen which would be adequate for short stays with a good size fridge, microwave, jug and aircon too. Bedroom was a good size as was the separate bathroom with toilet with its own door.
Yes, some of the furnishings appear well used, but the carpets were new and clean as was the vinyl in kitchen & bathroom.
All in all, very clean and comfortable!

First, the owner was very nice and a gracious host. I have no doubt he will get all units to better condition than our experience.
When I made the reservation on the phone he didn't mention the unit was in need of refurbishments to his standards, but did so when we first checked in. He acquired some adjoining property and it was clear they were in rough shape. See the attached picture as an example of the bathroom door. Most walls throughout had peeling paint in places.
Stayed in a spacious 2BR unit facing the beach - I would not recommend this location as it was on a busy thoroughfare separating the building from the beach and you can hear all of the traffic noise and is loud enough to wake you in the morning.
The bedroom with the queen bed had a remote on the wall for the fan, but it didn't work. The batteries were installed, but it didn't control the unit.
The wifi didn't work, despite the helpful instructions left on the kitchen table with the password.
The laundry facility was nice, with baskets, soap and $4 for a wash, $4 for the dryer. There are two washers and one dryer available.
The kitchen had a brand new stove and cooktop which was great. The fridge was an older unit but did the trick.
Assuming the other units are in better condition, I would give this place another shot based on the friendliness of the owner. But I have to be honest with the review of the unit where I stayed.

We booked a night here, a night on Fraser, a night here, a night on Lady Elliot, and a night here. They let us keep our extra baggage in the same room for all 5 days. They also let us keep our rental car here while we were gone. They also booked our over night trips to Fraser and Lady Elliot islands. The kitchen was useful. Just one block from the espanade / beach. The ceiling fans were all we needed to keep cool.

Just stayed at this motel/lodge and it is great value for your money. It is clean, around the corner from the beach and a nice walk to urangan pier and cafes. The staff were more than helpful. Very clean facilities with pool and BBQ area. Definitely staying here again when in hervey bay.

My husband and I stayed here in October 2017. The room was very generous in size, the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed and the hotelier was so friendly & helpful. Would definitely stay here again & recommend this hotel highly.

My wife and I stayed at the colonial lodge whilst visiting Hervey Bay to go whale watching and to visit Fraser Island. We originally chose the establishment because of its reasonable price, the low price lead us to have low expectations about where we would be staying but we were immediately proved wrong.
We were greeted on arrival by the manager who was really friendly, he gave us loads of tips about where to go in Hervey and even reassured us that we had chosen the best local excursions!
The room/unit was brilliant. More than what we needed, with a great homely feel and loads of space. The kitchenette was well equipped, although we didn't use it, and the lounge had a big TV and 2 comfortable chairs. The bed was huge, and surrounded by lots of storage. The shower in the bathroom was powerful!
Location wise the colonial lodge is about a kilometres walk from the main strip of bars and restaurants, but it has a very convenient store and a number of take away food stores nearby. You can get to the beach front in 2 minutes, and are about 25 minutes walk from the harbour.
All of this came at the amazing price of $270 for 3 nights, unreal! An amazing comfortable room in a prime location for only $90 a night. Definitely add this to your list if you're staying in HB soon.

Generally we can not allow smoking on the balconies, but we do have a 1 bedroom unit that it is possible if you email us and book direct, as it is away from the other units. There is also designated smoking area within 50 meters of all our other units therefore you don't have to leave the property.

Yes you can leave your car on the road in front of the motel, it is a quiet and safe street with free parking and the motel owners live on site. You can also store valuables Free at Reception for your return pick up. Phone or email the Lodge if arriving after 8 pm and they will arrange access and a room number
