Just thinking about this place makes me smile! I recently visited Rwanda and stayed at Villa Gorilla. My travel partner and I stayed in the Villa and we were simply delighted with the location and the warm hospitality. The view from our room was SO incredible-we looked out to the stunning gardens on the property with gorgeous backdrop of the volcanoes. It feels like the Garden of Eden. The manager Gilbert is so very helpful but we became closest to the wonderful FIDEL who works at the hotel. He has not just become our friend-he is truly like family. He did everything in his power to ensure that we were happy-he is not just a great chef he is a great host an took care of our every need.. He was so wonderful I extended my stay in Rwanda to go back to Villa Gorilla for a second stay and even visited him and his family-one of the highlights of my trip. The little touches at the hotel are so incredible-decorating our room (including the sitting room and the bathroom!) with flowers, cleaning our muddy shoes. We even woke up the first morning to a washed car! That was totally unexpected. Also unexpected was the level of cuisine. Tasty and beautifully plated by Fidel and also by the excellent Josef. There were some water outages and not much wi-fi but it's better to be unplugged in such a beautiful place. I can't wait to go back!…
Wow! We had a fantastic stay at Villa Gorilla. We were welcomed to beautiful hotel with a fruit smoothie, smile, and traditional Rwandan dance performed by talented local school children. Gilbert and the staff took great care of us the entire time! When we punctured a tire, he lent us a spare and went into town to try to get the tire fixed. When we need guidance on when to get to the park for our tour, he knew where to point us. The staff served up delicious western food, and at our request served up equally delicious local food. The mountain papaya right from the hotel's garden was an extra treat. In addition to all the above, our boots were kept clean and laundry was done for us multiple times (the hikes can be quite muddy). Thank you, thank you to Gilbert and the Villa Gorilla team for a wonderful stay.…
I recently stayed at Villa Gorilla. The Manager Mr. Gilbert was very helpful and attentive. The room was comfortable, spacious, and very cozy. I enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. What delighted my whole stay was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful. I will surely comeback.
we spent a night at Villa Gorilla while self driving in the area. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The room was more than adequate. They tried hard to provide a meal in the garden but the weather did not play ball -however the meal were delicious in the intimate dining room. Well positioned to see the Volcanoes National Park and views of the volcanoes.
We arrived at Villa Gorilla after a long drive and were welcomed with hot towels, juice and fruit and were taken to the garden where a troupe of local dancers performed for us. Gilbert and his team were very hospitable, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Our boots were cleaned each day, and Claude the cook even provided amasaka (traditional sorghum porridge) on request. The rooms are quaint and the plumbing somewhat rustic, but this is rural Africa, not upstate New York. Gilbert has a vision for the future of the business and is making a brilliant effort to achieve this on a very tight budget. We wish him every success and hope to stay with him again one day.
