This is more than a hotel. It is a serene and magical place run by amazing staff. We enjoyed a unique experience. Satyagraha House includes a small museum and rooms where one can spend the night. They are surrounded by a beautiful garden with some chairs, tables and benches where one can enjoy the sun and be inspired by Gandhi...

It was more of an emotional journey rather than touristy one. My grandfather was a freedom fighter who fought along with Mahatma Gandhi for the freedom of India and he went to jail in 1930 for Salt March. When I decided to travel to Johannesburg, I thought it would be great homage to my late grandfather if I can visit...

Many people forget about Gandhi's early experience in South Africa and how that shaped him in becoming the man he was. This fine establishment which also has a museum, is one of the finest places we have stayed in. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you step in there. Clean, calm, and very beautiful-minimalist in design but...

It was like a dream, or a journey back in time. Unforgettable. You take your breakfast inside the rooms of the museum itself. And it is a very quiet place. In addition, the vegetarian dinner was delicious.

We stayed in Satyagraha House for one night and really enjoyed it. The place is inspiring and the wonderful work from the new owner and renovation make this place a must seen (and stay) in Johannesburg.

The Satyagraha House has been recently acquired by a French travel agency, which fully refurbished the place making it a museum dedicated to Gandhi and a wonderful guest house. And the result is purely astonishing. We simply loved the place, having the chance to spend one time in the house of Gandhi itself, and experiencing a warm and so charming...

We have spent one night in this place. It's an unique experience to sleep in a museum where you can feel the spirit of Ghandi and his values. You will find there a dedicated team who will bring you food for thoughts. Here, less is more.

We are traveling around the world for seven months with our three children and had a perfect experience at this incredibly unique guest house. It was such an inspiration to stay where Gandhi actually lived and combine his work in South Africa with our study of Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg, for our children. The restoration is very tatesful and appropriate considering...
