We stayed at the chateau in August this year for a week. The accommodation and general ambience of the whole place is well designed with everything you could possible need for a self-catering holiday with the added touch of 5* luxury. Welcome pack included a bottle of the delicious local Creme de Loire as well as hand sanitiser and all the usual milk, coffee etc. David and his wife were excellent hosts and were always available to answer queries and assist with anything you required. We arrived on a Sunday evening and all shops and restaurants were closed - we had a little food with us but David had organised a BBQ on the terrace so we joined that. Everything was well organised so that tables were well spaced and only staff wearing masks served salads and sauces etc. We felt very safe and everything was nice and clean. The pool area is lovely although at times we could have used a few more sunbeds. The local area is lovely too - we ate at the local Bar Riton twice during our stay, serving a very reasonably priced Menu du Jour which consisted of up to 4 courses with wine and coffee for 12.50!!! It is not far to Saumur which has everything you could want from a town. Wish we could have stayed here for 2 weeks but sadly there was no availability - our second week in a rustic gite was a big disappointment in comparison for around the same price. Overall fantastic experience and we are trying to work out when we can visit again in the near future.…
We had a one bedroom studio apartment. The accommodation is luxurious and really well thought through. We cooked in and found the small kitchen area more than adequate. The welcome bottle of bubbles and high standard of everything, combined with beautiful surrounding forest and walks made this the perfect spot to kick back and relax.
My friends and I stayed at the chateau in November/December. We were so sad to leave it as it was such an amazing experience! Jenny is an amazing hostess. We learned about the history of the chateau and were able to learn about how it came to be. Amelie was absolutely wonderful as well! The rooms have so much space and has everything you need including a stove, oven, fridge, washing machine, bathtub, separate shower, towel warmer and so much more. It felt like an apartment and was incredibly comfortable. The chapel and common areas were well kept and peaceful. The property could not have been more perfect. The garden is gorgeous. You can go on a short walk around the property to see the Fern gully and the Rapunzel tower. The trees in the fall were absolutely beautiful with colors. Walk through the moat and you’ll have caves with so much history as well. The neighbors have a reindeer, a duck and a sheep! Each morning the breakfast was so good! We had our stay catered each day for all of our meals. The food was absolutely delicious!! Every vendor that came allowed us to really taste and see the local cuisine. We were really spoiled. The Chateau is a short drive into town where there are restaurants, churches and bakeries. It is also about 30 minutes to Samuar, a super cute town. I would definitely return to Chateau de Jalensnes if I were to return to the Loire Valley! I miss it already!…
I'd booked about 5 months in advance for myself, and my wife and we were looking forward to it. We were not disappointed. They provided comprehensive information regarding directions, check-in, and food and beverages, within and locally. This is self-catering rooms with knobs on - and some! A few days before our arrival I received an email stating a guest, currently occupying our pre-booked room, wanted to stay a little longer and would we object to having a different room. I laid down some conditions and accepted when confirmed. We ended up with a very large, ground floor suite (no air-con noise here), containing two bathrooms with all the facilities, and a lounge/dining area. We were knocked out with it! One bedroom overlooked the rear garden and swimming pool, with a view of countryside beyond, the other not unpleasant, but a not-so-grand view from the side. A welcome basket contained a few essentials, plus Cremant and a phone! We had been to a supermarket beforehand as recommended. We'd had a stressful journey, by car from Calais via Bayeux, so arriving here in the middle of peaceful countryside was perfect. Apart from a visit to Saumur market we just chilled. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. First class!…
We stayed here for a short break at the end of August in Vue Foret, a beautiful apartment on the first floor at the front of the chateau. In a beautiful setting and short drive to Saumur, this is the ideal base to explore the region. The chateau has been beautifully restored and the grounds including a herb garden and swimming pool are the icing on the cake. The nearby village is small, but there is a well stocked supermarket there or the larger Le Clerc hyper market which sells absolutely everything on the way to Saumur. Although Trip Advisor lists places to eat in Vernantes, they didn’t seem to be open whilst we were there, but luckily the apartment was very well equipped with everything you need to make a meal if you don’t venture out in the evening or do lot want to have to drive further afield. There is a handy welcome pack when you arrive, including some basic food items and use of a mobile phone if you want it. Its a place to really relax, do your own thing and recharge your batteries and we would definitely return. …
