Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I guess they do not expect many visitors in January, but the place looked very unloved. We were camping and as the place was not busy, they said we could use the shaded areas that are for powered camp sites. Being 40+ we were probably going to set up there anyway. No camp maps available why they would be out of these is anyone's guess. The camp kitchen bar be que was out of order, no fans, very basic. There were other people in the park the facilities were being used but they were not cleaned whilst we were there. Would have thought covid dictated cleanliness. No shower curtains so nowhere to put your things other than outside the cubicle otherwise they got wet. No duck boards. Faulty power points in the shower block. Had stayed in some really nice parks on this road trip this was not one of them.

This is only a good place to stay if you want to experience the ghost town of Silverton in the early morning before tourists arrive. Toilets were clean - showers rudimentary. Camp kitchen was really excellent though and management (Lewis) was friendly. The camp ground is very rundown.

We stayed 3 nights and had our dog with us. Quite aged and you can see it was a big family park in its hay day. People are very friendly, you camp wherever you want. Amenities are clean.

Quite dusty but remember we are out in the red😊 our dog loved the place as he had free run, although he never wanders more than 20m from us

We stopped at Penrose Park for a few days so that we could explore Broken Hill and Silverton. The facilities were ok, clean and power for the caravan which helped to keep the heat and dust under control.
Silverton Pub was certainly a place to visit and Broken Hill was only about 25 k's away. In Broken Hill we visited Pro Hart's Gallery and saw 'The Big Picture' as well as the BHP Mine. Definitely a place to visit, it is a long way from nowhere but the town is quite large with all the facilities.

We booked in for 2 nights at the house accomodation. We left after 1. The septic tank issues they claimed they couldn't fix at the Union Park had us so close to retching we had to leave. The management knew there was a problem but said it couldn't be fixed . . . ho hum. Avoid

Have you ever nearly puked up your breakfast?

What a great place to camp! Bush atmosphere and plenty of room to allow fires. Easily spend a day sightseeing around Silverton. Friendly management as well. Just brilliant . Don’t forget to visit the bakery as well and enjoy a pie or sweet treat.

The campground is big and it was not very busy. But it seemed that all the occupied sites were right next to each other. We thought it was a bit strange that they didn't spread people out more.
Huge sites, but it is difficult to know the boundaries. I believe they are doing some upgrades, and it could be a lot nicer with some bushes or trees as dividers between the sites.
The amenities were not very nice or clean, and the BBQ in the camp kitchen did not work.

This is our second stay at this great camp ground and certainly won't be our last. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the campground itself is large and there are grassed areas available. Penrose Park also backs on the historic township of Silverton where you are guaranteed to receive a very warm welcome at the famous Silverton Pub (location of some famous Australian films such as Mad Max, Razorback).

There are great playgrounds for the children and some animals around reception add to the charm.

Worth the drive from Broken Hill - only 22kms.

Very warm welcome on arrival, very helpful and friendly.

We stayed two nights on a powered site, so didn't need very much in the way of facilities. Toilets and showers were pretty basic, but clean and tidy.

I liked the fact that there was plenty of space, so not like a caravan park, where you are crowded in on all sides.

As stated by an earlier reviewer, this is about 25km from Broken Hill, just out of the township of Silverton, so don't expect to be able to walk to Broken Hill.

we went there after reading the Tripadviser reports and were truly disappointed by the whole experience. It is for a start 25K out of Broken Hill and is not a very welcoming place at all. the shower and tiolets were discussing to say the least. They were not clean and the shower curtains were dirty and had mould on the bottom of them. the actual cubicle was also dirty. the toilets were also not clean and had dirt and cobwebs every where. the sites with power were far and few between. we had a site on red dirt which turned to mud when it rained. the whole place was awful and then they charged $25 per powered site. an awful lot for nothing. we would never return or recommend to anyone that's for sure. some of the above reports make me wonder whether these people actually stayed in the same place.

Hi Pam, the cost from memory was $25. The park is fairly basic bus beautifully quiet compared to the two in Broken Hill. I believe you can camp at BH racecourse which I've heard is quite good.Good feed at Silverton Pub. V.quiet at night also. Make sure you do sunset at Mundi Mundi lookout! Regs. David
